Anyone wishing for a sophisticated and calming approach to accommodation in Chicago should look no further than the Royal Sonesta which rates guests' well-being and comfort levels just as seriously as the stylish interior décor. The hotel offers just that little bit extra with personalised in-room Yoga sessions on the TV or perhaps you would prefer an early morning jog? Of course, you don't have to jog to be able to enjoy the sights and guests staying at the Palomar will be pleased to learn that River North, Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile are all within walking distance. Further fabulous fitness facilities come in the form of the hotel's indoor heated swimming pool and 24-hour gym which are both guaranteed to help you work up an appetite just in time to check out the gastro-lounge dishes at the Sable Kitchen & Bar. What with in-room dining options and complimentary wine tasting sessions every day at 5.00pm, it's a wonder that you'll find the time to set foot outside however, it would be rude not to so this is your chance to give the Windy City a whirl.

My daughter, my 3-year old twin granddaughters and I drove 12 hours from Atlanta to Chicago. From the minute we pulled up to the hotel until we checked out, we had an amazing experience. Spiro met us at our car and helped us get all our girls and all our belongings unloaded. He stayed with us as we checked in and then assisted us to our room. Throughout our stay at the hotel, he was ALWAYS friendly and always wanted to know if there was anything he could help us with. He was happy and truly seemed to enjoy his job. Of course he helped us get all our belongings loaded up on our departure day. As we were leaving, he gave the little girls a little goody bag which they loved. Customer service isn't always great anymore, but all the staff were great, but Spiro went above and beyond everyday! We hope he sees this review so that he knows that his kindness and customer service did not go unnoticed! Thank you, Spiro, for making our stay at your hotel extra special!

Gold member status allowed us to check in early and check out late. We arrived around noon, and our room was ready. As a gold member, we received a welcome gift consisting of a bottle of wine and complimentary continental breakfast for the duration of our stay. The complimentary breakfast consisted of fruit/yogurt, protein (sausage, bacon, chicken sausage), toast (white, rye, sourdough, English muffin), and a small glass of juice and coffee. The couple that checked in right ahead of us were given $10 credit towards eating at CBR (the hotel restaurant) which I would've preferred over the continental breakfast, but it is what it is.
The lobby area is well light by the large windows, and the staff are very pleasant and welcoming. The lobby also offers self-service coffee/tea in the mornings.
Our room was on the 9th floor (927), and once you step off the elevator, you feel like you've been transported to an old movie. The hallways are dimly lit to create that old-time movie feel. The lighting carries over to the rooms, which helps because the room could use a bit of a refresh.
The living room area was spacious, and the seating was comfortable. The layout was nice, but the room could've used a larger size television. The mini fridge kept our beverages cold, but a keurig would've been a nice add, as I like to have a cup of tea at the end of the day to unwind. I'm sure I could've asked, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
While it was just the two of us, there was plenty of seating throughout the room, so we didn't feel like we were on top of each other for the week. There was also plenty of closet space.
The bedroom had the same aesthetic with the lighting, but found the beds to be comfortable, and loved the pillows. Plenty of space for us to spread out, and dresser drawers to unpack our stuff. The only drawback was the size of the television. This was one of the few hotels that didn't have Netlix or Amazon Prime, etc which was a bummer, as we also use the evening time to unwind, and watch a series on Netflix. The channel options left a lot to be desired.
The bathroom...the bathtub was GINORMOUS, and the high point of my stay. I try to stay at hotels that have bathtubs, as I don't have one in my master bathroom. The bathroom needed better lighting, but the size of the shower and the bathtub made up for it.
The night before we checked out we were offered turn down service which I found quite odd as this was the first time it was offered, and for it to be on our last night....
Would I stay here again? I'm not sure. It's definitely within walking distance of the places we wanted to see. There's a 7-11 on the corner, and a grocery store up the street. Plenty of places to eat, the area is pretty quiet, and close to public transportation.
The other option was the JW Marriott, but it was a bit out of the way.

Go see Edgar, he makes the best old fashions. Stopped by for a post lunch cocktail and had more than anticipated, which is a good thing. Lots of light in the space. Chic art work. There was a hot chick at the bar and she was hitting on is because we were having so much fun... thanks to señor Edgar
