The hotel

Pure paradise if you’re heading to Hawaii for its beaches, Alohilani boasts contemporary design and is steps from Waikiki Beach’s exclusive ‘Kuhio’ stretch. You can be snorkelling, surfing or swimming just moments after you arrive. If that’s not enough water, Alohilani Resort’s 280,000 gallon Oceanarium is filled with Hawaiian reef fishes, creating a soothing setting for drinks at O Bar and island breakfasts at Lychee. And, if your aquatic thirst still isn’t quenched, the fifth floor pool deck’s an impeccably chic setting, with its infinity pool, paddling pool, bar, overstuffed teak loungers, driftwood sculptures, and ocean views. You could even splash out on a cabana or water lounger. By night, it’s a magical space with lanterns, fire pits, and live music, ideal after dining in one of its two restaurants led by world-famous ‘Iron Chef’ Masaharu Morimoto.

Decor outdated. Hotel room door stuck. Staff unresponsive. Mattress too soft. Lobby and check in/out were nice, but don't let it fool you. Shower didn't work correctly. Elevators were slow and too few. Don't go there until they modernize the hotel.

Location - although the location is pretty central, this hotel was marketed as beachfront. To most people, beachfront means the property sits on a beach with direct access to a beach. That is not the case here. You have to cross a major street to get to the beach. Charge beachfront prices for not beachfront property. Pool Deck - the pool deck was unsatisfying and pretty disgusting. The furniture is worn and busted, windows near the infinity pool were smashed. The offerings of the pools bar leave much to be desired. Again marketed as a resort, doesn't meet resort standards. Rooms - for the most part the rooms were fine, but the problem I had with this area was the lack of actual room service options for food. Again, advertised as such and little to no offering for food delivery. Service - my only complaint about service is that they would have maids knocking at your door at 8pm to clean your room????? Why would any hotel assume that is the proper time, I will never understand. Parking - parking is a joke. $50 a day to self park and you'll be lucky to even find a spot that you paid for. 3 floors are reserved for valet 1 for car rentals and the rest is for very tiny over full parking spots for self parking. I do not recommend this hotel, stay at the outrigger properties, Westin, Hilton or Marriott. Much nicer, much cleaner, more of a resort. Read less

The pool area is not very big and I would imagine it would be very crowded during peak season, but what are you doing in the pool when there is an ocean across the street? The longboard club lounge breakfast is great, it is worth looking into club accesss for your stay. There are also snacks and drinks at happy hour time. The staff at this hotel is amazing and so too is the location. I highly recommend this hotel. Read less

The front desk staff were very welcoming and would check in with us periodically by text to make sure we were enjoying our stay or if we needed anything. The entire staff was friendly and attentive.
