The hotel

Pure paradise if you’re heading to Hawaii for its beaches, Alohilani boasts contemporary design and is steps from Waikiki Beach’s exclusive ‘Kuhio’ stretch. You can be snorkelling, surfing or swimming just moments after you arrive. If that’s not enough water, Alohilani Resort’s 280,000 gallon Oceanarium is filled with Hawaiian reef fishes, creating a soothing setting for drinks at O Bar and island breakfasts at Lychee. And, if your aquatic thirst still isn’t quenched, the fifth floor pool deck’s an impeccably chic setting, with its infinity pool, paddling pool, bar, overstuffed teak loungers, driftwood sculptures, and ocean views. You could even splash out on a cabana or water lounger. By night, it’s a magical space with lanterns, fire pits, and live music, ideal after dining in one of its two restaurants led by world-famous ‘Iron Chef’ Masaharu Morimoto.

The hotel is very nice and in a great location. We've stayed next door the past 5 times, but decided to upgrade a little. The 5th floor smells like pikake, which is my favorite smell! Beds were comfortable. The breakfast included in our stay package was really good. The afternoon "happy hour" was a little disappointing. The pool and hot tub were really nice, but the hot tub was full of very young kids constantly. We could see it if we leaned over our balcony, so we checked often. If you want beach towels, get them from the pool. They never had any clean beach towels in the lobby. Read less

Our very first day we were accused of smoking in the room and charged a $500 fine. My husband demanded somebody come up to the room and search our stuff as no one in our family smokes or vapes. They reversed the fine after they sent a maintenance guy to our room but when we would come in after being out all day, the room reeked like old… Read more

They reversed the fine after they sent a maintenance guy to our room but when we would come in after being out all day, the room reeked like old cigarettes. In addition, we had to call down to guest services every single day because the housekeeper would only leave 2 to 3 towels for a party of four. Read less

Rooms are clean and modern, with a mini fridge, hairdryer, kettle, safe, and iron. Daily housekeeping and fresh towels — excellent service overall. The hotel’s interior is beautiful, especially the giant aquarium in the lobby. One of the staff gave us a lovely tour and explained everything about the fish and how they’re cared for. We never made it to the pool — the ocean was just too perfect! Highly recommended. Would love to come back! Read less

Stayed for two nights with our two kids in a diamond head view room with 2 queen beds. The room was very spacious and clean. The view was beautiful and incredible to wake up in the morning and see the diamond head right there. We really liked the location of the hotel as it is right across the street from the beach and many shops, cafes and restaurants. We had access to the lounge so we ate there breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was great with an excellent variety, however less variety for dinner they only had spaghetti as a main. Then again it’s meant to be a lounge and not full dining so I’m not complaining the kids loved the food too. The only minus was that the pool was not heated so we didn’t get to enjoy it as much as we wanted to. We were only there one full day as our flight was delayed so we didn’t complain and others seemed to be okay with the pool. They have a lot of amenities that we did not use I would probably go back there if I went to Waikiki again as their overall vibe and service was great. Read less

We found this hotel very inviting from the moment we entered. Reception and check in was efficient. Hotel was spotless and the rooms have everything you need. Plenty of towels available for both the pool and beach which was just across the road. Would definitely stay here again
