Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort

Honolulu, Honolulu

Star rating

The hotel

Enjoy an aloha-style welcome at the award-winning Outrigger Reef. You can take in the stunning ocean views, relax among the Polynesian canoe art and soak up the sun by the pool. In need of some peace and pampering? Look no further than the elegant Spa — we recommend the traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. But if you like to be more active, why not set sail in a catamaran (keep your eyes peeled for spinner and bottlenose dolphins) or enjoy a paddle in the surf in an authentic outrigger canoe. If you prefer dry land, amble along the Waikiki Beach Walk promenade, stopping at a café on route, or take a hike to Point Leahi at the summit of Diamond Head. Back at the hotel, you can grill-your-own hand-carved steaks and fresh fish by the beach or dine poolside at Kani Ka Pila Grille, as you watch the live evening entertainment.

The front desk staff were overwhelmingly helpful with directions, suggestions and arranging transportation. We ate lunch or breakfast at the hotel several times and the food and service were very good. The beach is crowded but has a great vibe! The rooms are dated but very clean; daily housekeeping was much appreciated! We would definitely stay here again. Read less

There are lots of pros and cons to this hotel. In terms of pros… the room and the general standard is very clean and well maintained. In fact the cleaning staff save it! The reception staff left a lot to be desired…. My partner arrived here before I did as he was already here for work. Despite the fact his name was also on the booking and he had all of the booking information the person at reception was rude, sarcastic and very unprofessional considering this is supposed to be a 4+ * hotel we were not expecting that. The pool area is really small, the entertainment is very samey and we tried to have some drinks at the somewhat empty poolside bar and were turned away by someone called Amethyst who told us they were booked…. We walked past an hour later and there were at least 5 tables still free. You would have thought they would prioritise paying guests of the hotel instead of people who were coming off the street. The beach area directly outside the hotel is non existent if you want to relax by sea it will cost almost $100 per day. A disappointing stay unfortunately. Read less

He was expecting us our rooms were ready and he gave us a great introduction to the resort. The entire staff was great. I didn't get everyone's name, but there isn't a single complaint, just praise for everyone's gracious attitude. Our two son's room was on the third floor, Mary from housekeeping, made sure they were well taken care of and had everything they needed. Frank from the front desk and Voyager 47 Club remembered who we were from the first day and address us by our name. We are planning on returning for another stay soon. Thank you to the entire Outrigger Staff. Read less
