Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort

Honolulu, Honolulu

Star rating

The hotel

Enjoy an aloha-style welcome at the award-winning Outrigger Reef. You can take in the stunning ocean views, relax among the Polynesian canoe art and soak up the sun by the pool. In need of some peace and pampering? Look no further than the elegant Spa — we recommend the traditional Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage. But if you like to be more active, why not set sail in a catamaran (keep your eyes peeled for spinner and bottlenose dolphins) or enjoy a paddle in the surf in an authentic outrigger canoe. If you prefer dry land, amble along the Waikiki Beach Walk promenade, stopping at a café on route, or take a hike to Point Leahi at the summit of Diamond Head. Back at the hotel, you can grill-your-own hand-carved steaks and fresh fish by the beach or dine poolside at Kani Ka Pila Grille, as you watch the live evening entertainment.

I have to say that this hotel met out expectations. The restaurant on premises was amazing. Food is great. The wait staff is courteous. We found that people in general in Hawaii are very pleasant to talk to and are very friendly. When we arrived at Outrigger to check in we were greeted by Terumi at the front desk. She was very friendly and courteous. When we checked out a week later, we got lucky and got checked out by Terumi again. What are the chances of that. I also have to give special recognition to Maribel. She was from the housekeeping team. She would always check with us, as I'm sure she did with other guests, to see if we needed room service. She was always pleasant and always smiling. Whenever we got room service, our room was perfectly serviced and tidied up. She's a great asset to Outrigger! We did have to call the desk for a burned out shower light that should've been checked previous to our check-in. We also had to call twice for an outdated water filter on the water dispensing machine and for shower soap that they had replaced with shampoo, now having 2 shampoo bottles but no shower soap. All in all, I would stay here again. It's a beautiful hotel with nice atmosphere, evening music, delicious food on premises and courteous staff. Aside from the minor things mentioned above, it would've been a 5 star review otherwise. Read less

Great service, good food, and great views. The breakfast was delicious. The other restaurant was also pretty good. Really enjoyed the live music. Now for the bad- probably tbd worst was the shower water temperature. It would go from hot to freezing and then scalding. Every shower was an adventure. Our room was dirty. Dusty, soap scum in shower, mold, and the last guests toothpaste(Iguess) still in and around the sink. Was in room 806. The balcony was nice and we had a view of the pool and beach. Noise was not a problem at all. Bed was comfortable. Room overall was small and sliding glass partition to toilet and shower was dirty and got stuck a lot. There was no where to unpack, but space to put suitcases. We also had access to Club 47 It had a big variety of snacks and breakfast foods. Cocktails and other drinks very good as well. A little chaotic and not enough seats but very nice overall. Read less

Costco is known for great products and pricing. After taking advantage of their travel booking opportunities, Costco has moved up the ladder of customer satisfaction. The Oahu Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort Hotel met and exceeded expectations. Conveniently located on Waikiki Beach, it offers the proximity of great dining, shopping, beaches and excursion adventures. The hotel is immaculate and punctuated with a dedicated, caring and friendly staff. Stanley, Hotel Manager and Joy R., Housekeeping Manager, were both attentive to requests made for some minor room adjustments with a no problem attitude. The Blue Hawaiian Activities concierge staff at the hotel are knowledgeable and gracious answering all questions related to island dining, excursions, shopping, transportation and so much more. They were available to make the planning process seamless and stress free. Samantha, concierge extraordinaire, was contacted one week before we left for Hawaii. After speaking and follow-up emails, the perfect vacation was planned. Outstanding excursions with sufficient time for relaxation, dining and shopping was coordinated. Samantha listened and provided a caring and personalized itinerary. Upon arrival a warm welcome was received along with a detailed folio with explicit instructions for each activity. Samantha nailed it! Kylie, another associate, was also available to assist with enthusiasm and knowledge. All in all it was a remarkable and memorable trip! Read less
