Queen Kapiolani Hotel

Honolulu, Honolulu

Star rating

The hotel

Named after the beloved wife of Hawaii’s last king, Queen Kapiolani is something of a Waikiki landmark, paying homage to Hawaii’s majestic heritage and unique culture with a modern twist. Overlooking the sandiest stretch of Waikiki Beach, guests can enjoy stunning views of Diamond Head from the balconies of their newly renovated rooms, each and every one of them furnished in breezy Island style. As a change from the beach, laze beside the pool instead, dipping in every now and again to cool off. Although there are restaurants all around you, the hotel’s own Kulana is highly recommended, not just for buffet favourites but for its sweeping panoramic views! Pre-dinner, chill awhile at the Deck Pool, sipping on your favourite cocktail – a Mai Tai perhaps?

Don’t stay there if you intend to sleep. Every single night, during our 7-day stay, locals parked at the zoo parking lot across the street and from sun down to midnight, STOOD on their gas pedals revving their engines to the limiter to make as much noise as possible. Police do exactly nothing about it. So, if you enjoy the sound of a drag strip… Read more

Police do exactly nothing about it. So, if you enjoy the sound of a drag strip when attempting to get rest, this is the place for you. It’s deliberate noise pollution and ruined our week long stay. I’m looking forward to getting home to the mainland again so I can get some sleep. We won’t be back. Read less

We also appreciated the free ice and water stations throughout the hotel, which were perfect for staying cool and hydrated. Everything about our stay was relaxed and convenient. Highly recommend for families looking for a comfortable and easy beach getaway! Read less

The valet parking and staff was so friendly and helpful especially when there’s no parking but across the street. The restaurant served delicious food but downfall was the kitchen closing early at 3pm but advertised at 4pm. The room was a good size but the bed was a bit uncomfortable and would be nice if it had a microwave.

The room we had was no frills but an excellent view of Diamondhead and our kiddo loved watching the weddings happening down below us from our balcony. Something we missed beforehand was the very limited parking. You have the option of valet for $50/day or paying about $30 in a neighboring lot across the street. Read less
