My wife and I recently stayed at the Princess Kaiulani Hotel at Waikiki for six nights. We arrived early on the first day, as we were coming from a cruise, so we had to wait for our room to be ready. We left our luggage in the lobby. it was placed near the front desk and literally guarded. When we did check in, we were amazed to learn we were upgraded to a higher floor in the tower than we expected, and had a tremendous view of the coastline, and the inland environs. Our room was great, and we were surprised that it greeted us with folded swan towels, rose petals, some treats, and a card celebrating our 50th anniversary.
We had some plans in place, but needed some help, so we went to the concierge, Kalani, for advice. He helped us book a number of activities including Star of Honolulu dinner cruise, Kualoa Ranch, Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace, Hanauma Bay, and some others. Kalani always greeted us with a large smile, and always got us through our many questions. We felt he was genuinely interested in us having the best trip we could.
The restaurant at the hotel was simple, but quite good, and the setting, by the swimming pool made it very relaxing. At nights there was live music at the bar, and it always added to the setting. Even though the hotel is pretty much surrounded by shopping, I always felt it was a haven from the crowds.
Our whole experience was pretty great, but, probably for me, the best part of the Princess Kaiulani was the staff we met. Everyone we encountered, was kind, friendly, and always had time for a few words. We would be glad to stay there again.
