The hotel

Set against the majestic Ko’olau Mountains and overlooking Waikiki Beach, this Sheraton hotel is a real slice of heaven. With sun, sea and sand on your doorstep, indulge in water sports, land sports, wining and dining or simply stake your place in the shade and relax. There are two incredible oceanfront pools: an infinity pool for the adults, a very serene place, or family-friendly Helumoa Pool where the kids can splash to their hearts content. If a spot of pampering appeals, head to Spa Khakara for a couples massage or an individual beauty treatment. Hungry? Kai Market serves farm-to-table fare that showcases the flavours of Hawaii perfectly. It also enjoys amazing views of Diamond Head and the Pacific – a treat for the eyes as well as the taste buds! Alternatively, Rum Fire is the sensuous new spot for tapas and cocktails – boasting the country’s largest selection of vintage rum and playing live island melodies each evening. The Edge of Waikiki lives up to its name – set on the beach, it’s the perfect spot to admire the sunset over a tropical thirst quencher.

We are currently staying in this hotel. We had done a lot of planning before our visit and many hotels in Wakiki get average reviews. Given the quantity of tourists here, it appears many hotels can meet the demand for rooms so customer service and continued improvements are not big issues for them. So why do I see this hotel as average: Firstly location in Wakiki and view from the hotel is excellent and shops and restaurants are all nearby, however 1. On our first evening, we had booked a room for 3 (myself, wife and dsughter). The room only had one bed. We spoke to reception and were told it would be sorted. A few hours later, we aaginaskwd via the hotel app,and subsequently we contacted reception again. By 9pm, our daughter was asleep on our bed and we ended up with not a great night's sleep. After visiting reception early the next morning it was sorted. I was told a manager wiukd contact us but we are still waiting. So when I say the staff do not really care, we had 4 touch points to get one thing done and were awaiting a fifth touch point but no call from the manager. 2. The hotel allows non guests to wander through its lobby area to access shops etc, however there is no key card security on the lifts so anyone can come up to bedroom floors. 3. They charge an additional tesort fee.... fir, get this, 2 bottles in your room to put water in and to get towels at a very crowded pool. Overall, location is great but as a stand alone hotel, very disappointing. Read less

We had a bit of an issue with our “oceanfront” room assigned to us that was definitely not oceanfront. Upon inquiry, I was told the room we were assigned is the only 1 bedroom suite open. He brought our belonging up to our room, saw I was disappointed, took me down to the front desk to see what else could be changed. With a minimal up-charge, we were placed in a beautiful oceanfront room that was double the size of our booked room category. Dalton is a true gem! Thank you! Read less

The hotel itself is very nice—clean, well-maintained, and with a great overall atmosphere. However, the pool experience was disappointing. It was always a hassle to find available chairs unless you paid extra, and it seemed like anyone could walk in and take a seat, regardless of whether they were staying at the hotel. It would be much better if priority for pool seating was given to actual hotel guests. Otherwise, it was a nice hotel. Read less

Well, we had a rough start to our vacation at another Marriot Bonvoy location and decided to check in at the Sheraton on a Friday morning and boy was it busy. So we waited for our room at the beautiful infinity pool, It was taking a while to get the room. So, I went to ask for a little information and I met a wonderful host, Miss Smith she was warm, inviting and charming. She informed me it would be a little less than an hour so waited and came back. Now the good part, as I waited in a small line to speak with her again, I watched a guest with terrible dimers and attitude treating her poorly and she took it with a smile and grace. When I got to the front of the line we spoke, and she was so kind and made our trip amazing with a smile that could light up a room. She suddenly made a room available, she did not have to but I know you give sugar you get sugar I work in customer service and understand things are out of our control. Man, what a room she gave us, and boy did our trip to Hawaii start to turn around for my son's birthday. It was nice to have a friendly face to talk with and get help from through are weekend at the Sheraton. The next morning we were on our way to go swimming on the beautiful beach front of the hotel and we saw Miss Smith again and I wanted to thank her from the bottom of my heart for her kindness, as we walked off she called me back and told me she happen to have a treat for us and gave the family a scoop of ice cream coupon to Baskin Robins in the lobby on the hot morning, what a treat! I just want to make sure she gets credit for being an exceptional ambassador for the Sheraton of Waikiki. Thank you Miss Smith for making the tail end of the trip phenomenal. We cannot wait to come back again without her kindness I do not think we would have decided to return to the island and just keeping going back to Mexico. I look forward to seeing you in the next six months, Miss Smith. Read less
