Part of the Outrigger family, this is a premier hotel with well-equipped, spacious guest rooms ensuring a comfortable holiday base. The location is fantastic too, directly overlooking beautiful Waikiki Beach and just a stone's throw from shops, bars and restaurants. Even people who aren't staying here tend to wander into the lobby as it's filled with rare and historic Hawaiian artefacts, including a century-old koa canoe! The Hula Grill Waikiki is another local attraction, serving scrumptious breakfasts and romantic dinners beside the ocean. Duke's Waikiki is also right on the beach and perfect for an evening meal, complete with regular live music and hula performances. The swimming pool is beachside so you can enjoy the views of the sparkling blue waters, wherever you choose to set up camp for the day.

Just stayed for 4 nights July 2025. We booked 4 rooms. Ours was a double bed room with club level and we were very underwhelmed with this hotel. There was mold in shower tile grout and the hot water was a major issue. All four days we experienced problems. It would be hot for one shower then gone. Next day there was zero hot water. Once maintenance came up they told us to run it for 20 minutes. This worked sometimes. Then one manager said that it was “confusing” his words on why we had no hot water. The next manager said they knew they had an issue and many people were without hot water. The club level was not worth the price for us. Breakfast was decent but evening appetizers were not what they used to be. The elevators were also difficult. We had to wait up to 10 minutes on some days. The stairs were not an issue either because the stair door at lobby level wouldn’t open.. looked rusted and maybe stuck? The location is nice with beach views and being close to dukes and other restaurants. Also, if you book a 2 double room… the bathtubs are tiny. Never seen anything like it. It’s 1/2 of a tub. Maybe 3 feet long. The bathroom is spacious besides that. House keeping was very nice and did a great job.

Great ocean front balcony room with the comfiest glider chairs! Super convenient to the best beach in Waikiki and had plenty of choices for dining and shopping nearby.

I'm genuinely puzzled by the positive reviews for this hotel. Went to Honolulu last week with my family and was booked to stay at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach resort for four nights. Honestly, I found the room to be so run down that I checked out after one night and ended up at the Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort (loved it!).
I travel quite a bit and over the years, I have stayed in all types of hotels. As a point of comparison, I haven't stayed at a Howard Johnson or Best Western in a long time but the visible age and shabbiness of this hotel reminded me of those. If you are booking this hotel for $250/night and don't mind that the furniture and rooms are a bit shabby you should be all set. I'd never pay more than that to stay here, for any reason. The furniture looks like it's original from when the hotel first opened (which judging by the furniture I'd guess was sometime in the 50's or 60's). The carpet seems old and the wallpaper is peeling in spots.
Every interaction I had with the staff was positive. They were really wonderful and warm but for me that just couldn't make up for the state of the actual hotel and the rooms. People also seem to love Duke's one of the restaurants there (best of luck getting a reservation) and the fact that it's right on the beach. Many hotels are right on the beach and personally, I could not get out of here fast enough.

We have been coming to Outrigger Waikiki for a few years as a staycation and have not once been disappointed. The front desk staff along with the housekeeping staff have been awesome!!! The front desk Manager Mae always makes us feel welcome by instantly recognizing us! Steve the General Manager always sends gifts to our room! We recently upgraded to Outrigger Platinum Membership with the help of Ricky Kuga. He made our check-in process painless and the upgrades along with the amenities were great! The oceanfront view never disappoints!
Kudos to everyone for an excellent experience! Definitely will recommend family and friends to stay here!
