Excalibur

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This good value on-strip casino hotel boasts an enormous pool area and is home to the must-see Tournament of Kings dinner show, complete with knights on horseback, jousting, pyrotechnics and Merlin himself. Las Vegas’s take on old England, the Excalibur would surprise the Knights of the Round Table. But that’s where it leaves England behind and takes on the world. There’s the all-American casino (with 100,000 sq ft of gaming), games arcade, and branch of Johnny Rockets’ famous hamburger chain. There’s Italy, Mexico and Asia (and a bit more America) in its casual restaurants and food court. And there’s Australia in its ‘Thunder from Down Under’ adult show and Australian Bee Gees tribute concert.

Worst Time I have ever spent in any property No Handicap help what so ever. I am a 100% Disabled Veteran. I suffered a spinal injury while protecting this nation and now have difficulty walking and getting from one point to another. I arrived to discover that Valet services has been closed and the Bell desk is no more. The only handicap parking spot was at the opposite end of the Self parking garage about 1/4 mile walk to check in while hauling luggage. By the time I got to Check in I was hurting very badly only to have to wait in line to check in standing the whole time. Needless to say by the time I got checked in and having to pay another $51.02 in resort fees, I was all but dead on my feet. Then to make matters even worse the rental on a power chair was astronomical $59.20 more. After two more trips to my car to retrieve our belongings and a trip to get a players club card so I could avoid the "Self Parking" charges we were checked in and in the room over 2 hours later I was more or less done for the night. Check out was even worse. We started by packing up and then me returning the cart and "Renting" a luggage cart and then wheeling it back to the room to load up then escort my special needs daughter to the Rotunda and offload our luggage and then leave my special needs daughter alone to sit with the baggage. Why did I not Take the Luggage cart to my car? Well I would have except that the document I signed said I would be charged $500 if I did not return it within 1 hour. So back I go with it to the "bell desk". At this time 45 minutes have elapsed and I am in extreme pain and still have to check out. By the time I got all checked out my pain level has jumped up 3 fold and can barely shuffle to my car. I walked another 1/4 mile back to my car and left to pick up my special needs daughter, Remember her, she was forced to sit outside for over 1 1/2 hours by herself. After loading up our stuff over 2 hours elapsed. Read less

Everything about this hotel was great except the music at the pool. We asked the manager to change music only to be given some BS reason as to why he couldn’t. Not everyone at your hotel is 20 years old. The people pushing shows at the entrance are annoying.

From the moment I checked in, it was a wonderful birthday trip. When we checked in, the lady helping us check in gave me bottled water for my dying rose. I kept the rose in water for the following 5 days. The water helped it come back to life. Housekeeping was perfect. She was friendly and awesome.

The room and casino were very clean. We were able to check in early to our room which was nice. The check in process was excellent. The only issue was on Friday night around the table games. The music was so loud that you could feel the music and it was not the normal music they played earlier in the week.

I knew when booking rooms that Excallibur is one of the older, less expensive hotels on the strip...but this was a special trip and we wanted to be able to stay on "The Strip". This was not our first Vegas or strip experience but of the three "strip" hotels I've stayed at I like Excallibur the best. The beds were very comfortable, the elevators were fast (but not the super fast head-spin/vertigo fast), the bathroom had a fan which could be turned off if you just wanted the light on (BIG BIG PLUS just having a fan to begin with!). I also liked that the food court had more options...as I said we were there for the experience and not looking to break the bank. We did splurge on our rest day and rented a cabana at the pool...100% would recommend if you have even a half day to relax, doesn't even matter if you go in the pool. Read less
