The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of seven restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, four distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

Stayed in the GO Room - entered the room and you are hit with what smells like a dirty bong. Room was ok but stunk really bad. There is no escaping it as it comes in through the air system. My room was... fine. Think “budget airline seat” but without the peanuts. No lotion, no coffee maker, though they did provide a bar of soap, just floating freely on the counter like it lost its soap dish in the divorce. There are vending machines on each floor where you can buy water, but here’s a tip: hang on to those singles after your trip to Chippendales. These machines are not fans of modern technology, no cards, no Apple Pay, just cold, hard, exact change. I half expected to find a rotary dial next to it. By day three, the WiFi began its slow emotional breakdown. My phone couldn’t connect, and since my room had all the cell reception of a fallout shelter, I spent nearly an hour on three separate calls with their IT support. Through the magic of troubleshooting, my laptop also decided to stop working, so I gave up and accepted my fate as a digital hermit. Would I stay here again? Only if I brought my own soap dish, a roll of singles, and zero expectations for connectivity. Read less

For the overall experience, this was the must frustrating Las Vegas stay for what seems like an insane amount of money. I should have just gotten an Airbnb. On day one we walked into the room and although the thermostat was set to 65, the room was in the low to middle 70's. Although I could feel a small amount of cold air in the vent area, there wasn't any force behind the fan to circulate the air. I expressed my concern twice and was told that it was working fine and I was essentially the problem. Our room was on the 28th floor and there was loud music with loud bass from outside that played well past 2am. Although the hotel was zero help with the room temperature being habitable, they had no problem bombarding my cell phone the entire week with reminders about the expensive shows and restaurants on the property.. Too bad not one of the unsolicited messages had any sort of discount or incentive. Overall it was a pretty horrible stay and Im glad to be checking out. Read less
