Flamingo

The Strip, Las Vegas

Star rating

The hotel

This historic hotel was built by Vegas legend, Bugsy Siegel back in 1946 and it's seen countless celebrities walk through its doors in the last 60 years, as well as being the backdrop for the original Ocean's Eleven film and Viva Las Vegas. It has an amazing location right in the middle of The Strip and near the fantastic Caesars Forum Shops, with award-winning Flamingo Go Rooms. The hotel is great for kids with its amazing Beach Club Pool. The GO Pool offers a 21+ lively pool party experience with its amazing 15-acre tropical pool paradise, which has whirlpools and four different swimming pools nestled among the lush, green foliage. Then there's the Wildlife Habitat, where the resort's eponymous flamingos hang out with turtles, swans and ducks. There's a choice of seven restaurants including Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and Margaritaville Casino, featuring the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar. Margaritaville is as much a state of mind as it is a place. The multi-level Caribbean-themed entertainment venue offers two outdoor patios overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, a nautical-themed restaurant, four distinctive bars, live entertainment nightly (both indoors and outdoors) and a 3,000-sq ft retail store. You can also eat outside by the pool or even enjoy a spot of gambling in the pool casino located at the GO Pool! At the Margaritaville Casino at the Flamingo, guests feel the energy of the Las Vegas strip while enjoying the laid-back vibe of the islands.

If Vegas had a drunk, fabulous aunt who still wears leopard print and tells wild stories from the ‘70s, it would be the Flamingo. The location? Chef’s kiss. If Vegas had a drunk, fabulous aunt who still wears leopard print and tells wild stories from the ‘70s, it would be the Flamingo. The location? Chef’s kiss. You can practically trip out the front door and land in the Bellagio fountains. The wildlife habitat with actual flamingos? Adorable and the only sober birds in the place. Now, the rooms… Let’s just say “vintage” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. My carpet had seen some things. The furniture looked like it had been through a few too many bachelorette parties, and my bathroom faucet dripped like it was auditioning for a horror movie. But hey, the bed was comfy enough to recover from whatever poor choices you made downstairs. The pool scene is like spring break met a perfume counter—loud, colorful, and smells vaguely of tequila and sunscreen. Lines for chairs start early, so bring your elbows or your charm. Resort fees are there to remind you that nothing in Vegas is truly free—not even Wi-Fi. But for the price and that unbeatable Strip location, the Flamingo still works if you want to be in the middle of the chaos and don’t mind a little “character” with your stay. Would I stay again? Probably. Would I Lysol the remote first? Absolutely. Read less

Room was so beat-up, housekeeping didn't even bother replacing our sheets. A complete dump - everything needs updating. We weren't in the room much so just to sleep but really so many nicer options on the strip for a similar price.

Honestly, I was disappointed in the room.It was not clean. We asked several times for them to clean the door in the bathroom because it was all sticky and it didn't happen. Also, somebody's fake nails were on the floor when we checked in. So obviously the floors hadn't been back yet. It just did not feel clean in the room. The casino was okay. But… Read more

But not good for gambling, which is not good, because you want to be able to stay where you're staying and gamble a little bit. So yeah, two stars, the view is good. Read less
