The hotel

Part of the very fabric of Midtown Manhattan, this Art Deco attraction is proudly capped with the red ‘New Yorker’ sign that’s made it a landmark in the city skyline. Inside its iconic 1929 shell, this Jazz Age hotel’s held on to its heritage. Its top location, just a block from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, means you’re well placed for attractions like Macy’s, Times Square and the Empire State Building. And it doesn’t matter what time you finish exploring, its 24-hour Tick Tock Diner will give you a taste of New York with American comfort food classics like burgers and all-day breakfasts. If you fancy something a little more upmarket, the New Yorker’s Trattoria Bianca comes with an oyster bar.

This place is my new go-to for NYC. It's close to Penn Station (which takes you right to JFK for $13.50) - walking distance to Times Square and train stations galore. Their staff is IMPECCABLE! They checked me in early, were friendly and helpful the entire time. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. The Tick Tock diner has some great diner fare too as well as one amazing milkshake. I was booked to go 2 weeks ago, and my flight was changed the night before, so I reached out to see if I could get a refund on my stay bc I missed the cancellation window by 3 hours, and Neida was absolutely INCREDIBLE when it came to helping me. Friendly, professional and thorough. I will stay here again and again, and you should too! Read less

Great price, not great stay. Not very clean (felt dusty, and there was blood stain on the sheets), and a lot of noise from other rooms (likely from the shower heater which did not let my partner sleep).

Fabulous location on 35th Street and Eighth Avenue, short walk to The Empire State Building, Macy’s and Times Square. Lovely entrance foyer and reception with the Tick Tock diner and a great restaurant/bar. Our room was on the 35th floor with a good view towards Times Square. The room was big enough for the two of us with a queen bed (very comfortable), a desk and chair, TV, walk in wardrobe with a safe, ironing board and iron. Bathroom with good shower and nice towels, also a hairdryer. Plenty of lifts so no waiting time to get up to or down from our room. Nice little exhibition about the history of the hotel in the basement, along with a gym. Would definitely stay here again. Read less
