Looking for dining destinations in New York? Brooklyn is where the real culinary action happens. Here’s our pick of the best Brooklyn restaurants to check out next time you’re in town.
So much has been made of Brooklyn in recent years that travellers might soon skip Manhattan entirely. Fashion trends start in Williamsburg, young families thrive from Brooklyn Heights to Bushwick, and DUMBO’s art scene rivals Chelsea or Montmartre. But Brooklyn’s biggest draw is its food.
Food lovers flock to BKLYN Larder for artisan sandwiches and curated provisions, or to Smorgasburg, the open-air market serving everything from lobster rolls to vegan doughnuts.
In Williamsburg, highlights include Egg for breakfast, the Gatsby-esque Maison Premiere for oysters and absinthe, Fette Sau for legendary pork belly, and Peter Luger’s, perhaps the best classic steakhouse in the world. Add Milk Bar for sweet treats and you’ve got a perfect day’s eating.
Beyond Williamsburg, Frankies 457 Spuntino serves a cult-favourite meatball parm sandwich, and Grand Army pairs seafood with standout cocktails. Al Di La Trattoria in Park Slope, one of the old guard, still holds its own.
And of course, no Brooklyn food crawl is complete without pizza. Grimaldi’s in DUMBO, Roberta’s in Bushwick, and Di Fara in Midwood remain unmissable icons.
