Travel Advisory to Canada – Ebola Outbreak Information

In response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has introduced temporary entry restrictions effective from 28 May 2026 for customers travelling to Canada from, or via, the following countries within the previous 21 days:

  •  Uganda
  •  Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
  •  South Sudan

For Canadian citizens and permanent residents

From 28 May 2026, Canadian citizens and permanent residents can continue to travel to Canada. However, customers who have travelled from, or been present in, any of the countries listed above within the previous 21 days may be subject to additional health screening measures on arrival into Canada.

From 31 May to 29 August 2026, customers who are permitted to travel to Canada and who have been present in one of the affected countries within the previous 21 days may also be required to quarantine on arrival into Canada.

For customers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents

From 28 May 2026, temporary entry restrictions introduced by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) may affect customers travelling to Canada who have travelled from, or been present in, any of the countries listed above within the previous 21 days.

Under these measures, certain Canadian immigration documents issued to impacted foreign nationals may be temporarily suspended and may no longer be valid for travel to Canada. This includes:

  • Permanent Resident Visas (PRV)
  • Electronic Travel Authorisations (eTA)
  • Temporary Resident Visas (TRV)
  • Work Permits
  • Study Permits

These restrictions apply to both previously approved immigration documents and any new applications submitted by residents of the affected countries.

The Government of Canada will contact impacted customers directly if their immigration documents have been suspended.

These temporary measures are currently expected to remain in place until 29 August 2026, with immigration document suspensions applying for an initial period of 90 days, subject to ongoing review by Canadian authorities.

We strongly recommend checking the latest Government of Canada travel guidance before travelling to ensure you meet all entry requirements for your journey.
