A shopping guide to Wynwood

When people think of Miami they tend to gravitate towards the idea of soft sand beaches, palm trees and nightlife. However, in addition to all of these attractions, Miami is also home to an eclectic shopping scene with an abundance of great Design District stores. The Wynwood area houses a particularly diverse selection of shops, and though this is still an emerging area for tourists, we’ve uncovered some local favourites well worth discovering on your next trip to Miami.

CX2 Project

Located on the north end of Wynwood, CX2 Project is designed with elite locals and travellers in mind. Carrying a distinct array of exclusive designer pieces for both men and women, the collection includes US based designs by Heather Fashion, Cimber Jewelry, Hobo Handbags and Christy’s Hats. The gallery/boutique combo harmoniously brings together the fashions of the Design District with artistry from Wynwood.

Best for: Exclusive fashion and art.

Elemental Store

Elemental Store is without doubt one of our top shopping spots in Miami. Commonly referred to as ‘The Shop of Wonders’, this store has a quintessential Wynwood vibe and features a curated assortment of unusual home décor and designer products. The clean, white cube display concept is constantly changing to house new items from across the globe, allowing your imagination to explore new ideas in art and design. With a vision of ‘smart design, flawless industrial production, and reasonable prices’ it’s no wonder this local favourite has gone from strength to strength since opening its doors back in 2007.

Best for: Unique home décor.

Haus Fashion Lab

Established by renowned make-up and hair artist Emilio Uribe, Haus Fashion Lab features a variety of emerging local talent. Included on the roster: fashion, art, jewellery and accessory designers from the area, as well as from Latin America and Europe. While visiting, you may even bump into a local celebrity or two. Haus Fashion Lab has the glamorous task of dressing some of Miami’s elite for celebrations and editorials, but luckily for us, it’s also open to the public.

Best for: Emerging fashion, art, and accessories.

The French Atmosphere

Bringing traditional European design to the Miami market, The French Atmosphere carries a large variety of home accents and accessories straight from France, Germany and Italy. The 1,200 square foot shop may be a little on the small side, but it’s imaginatively decorated with walls lined with luxurious fabrics and an eclectic array of artwork, all packed into the tight space. Colourful textiles and beautiful items for the home – including decorative plates, glassware, luxe bedding, and one-of-a-kind gifts – can all be found within these refurbished walls.

Best for: Luxe European finds.
