Sure, Orlando is the theme park capital of the world, but the best places to cool off are 100% natural. Ready to dive in? Here are the best natural springs near Orlando for a refreshing dose of wild swimming.

Wekiwa Springs State Park

Just east on I-4 from Orlando, Wekiwa Springs State Park is a local legend. You can hike, kayak, or take a plunge into the crystal-clear spring that stays a steady 20–22°C, even in Florida’s summer heat.

A quick paddle or short drive away is Wekiva Island, a chill riverside hangout with Adirondack chairs, “river-banas”, volleyball, and free-flowing beer. Weekends get lively, so rent your river-bana early and soak up the sunshine.

Blue Springs State Park

A little farther north, Blue Spring State Park is paradise for scuba fans and manatee lovers. In winter, hundreds of gentle giants drift through the clear water. Swimming with them is off-limits, but spotting them is unforgettable. If you prefer to take it easy, hop on a two-hour river cruise along the St. Johns River and let the world float by.

De Leon Springs

At De Leon Springs, wild swimming meets breakfast goals. The spring is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, but it’s the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant that steals the show. You make your own pancakes on built-in griddles. Add chocolate chips, bananas, or both, then hike the Wild Persimmon Trail to justify seconds.

No matter which natural spring near Orlando you choose, you’ll find the real Florida, cool, clear, and buzzing with life. Just get there early. The early bird gets the best swimming spot.
