Until 23 February, members of The British Airways Club members can level up with an enhanced status match:

  • BA Bronze steps up to Flying Club Silver.
  • BA Silver steps up to Flying Club Gold.

And of course, BA Gold still matches to Flying Club Gold.

Status match is available for members of The British Airways Club, even if you’ve matched before, and your new status will apply before you fly.

Plus, for a limited time The British Airways Club members can match their status even if it will expire before their future Virgin Atlantic booking.

How to match your status

Eligible Airline programmes

Become a Flying Club status holder in an instant, by proving you are in the top tiers of one of the below airline loyalty programmes. You'll also need to have a future revenue or redemption flight booked with Virgin Atlantic on a Virgin Atlantic flight or one of our codeshare partners with a VS flight number (in either Premium or Upper Class for Gold status), and have not received a Flying Club status in the previous 5 years using a status match

The nuts and bolts

These Supplementary Terms and Conditions (“Supplementary Terms”) apply to the British Airways Status Match Promotion (“Promotion”) and are in addition to the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Status Match “Small Print”. In the event of any inconsistency, these Supplementary Terms shall prevail in relation to the British Airways Promotion only.

1. Promotion Period
Applications must be received by no later than 23:59 (UK time) on 23 February 2026.

2. Eligibility and Qualifying Flight
To be eligible, Flying Club Members (“Members”) must, at the time of their status-match application, hold a confirmed, forward booked Virgin Atlantic flight purchased with money (“revenue flight”) or redeemed using Flying Club miles (“redemption flight”) for future travel in either Premium or Upper Class for Gold status (Economy is excluded for Gold status), or any cabin (Economy, Premium, or Upper Class) for Silver status. The qualifying flight must depart on any date after 10th February 2026, including dates after the Promotion deadline of 23 February 2026, provided the application is submitted by the deadline.

3. Proof of British Airways Status
Members must provide valid proof of their British Airways tier status at the time of their application via a digital scan or photo of their member card. Virgin Atlantic retains the right to verify the authenticity of any proof submitted and to reject any application where satisfactory evidence is not provided or cannot be verified.

4. Status Validity
Flying Club Silver or Gold status awarded under this Promotion will be valid for 12 months from the date the member’s Flying Club account is upgraded.

5. Prior Status Match Holders and Transferability
This Promotion is available to Members who have (or have not) previously held Flying Club Silver or Gold status via a status match.
Status awarded under this Promotion is personal to the Member, non-transferable, and may not be sold, assigned, or otherwise shared.

This exception applies exclusively to this Promotion.

6. Expiry of External Airline Status
By exception to standard status match policy, applications under this Promotion will not be declined solely because the Member’s British Airways status is due to expire before the qualifying Virgin Atlantic flight, provided such status is valid at the time of application. This exception applies exclusively to this Promotion.

7. General
Virgin Atlantic retains the right to amend, suspend, or withdraw this Promotion at any time, subject to applicable law.

Virgin Atlantic retains absolute discretion to approve or decline any application for this Promotion and is not obliged to provide reasons for declining an application.

If any provision of these Supplementary Terms is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the validity, legality, and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected or impaired.

These Supplementary Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

2. Our status match offer is available to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club members (“Members”) only. If you’re not a Flying Club member, you can join today online .

3. To be eligible for Gold status, Members must:  

· Have purchased a confirmed Virgin Atlantic flight for future travel, either purchased with money (“revenue flight”) or redeemed using Flying Club miles (“redemption flight”) booked on Virgin Atlantic or one of our codeshare partners, in Premium or Upper Class. Economy cabin bookings are not eligible for Gold status

· Have at least one flight on your itinerary with a Virgin Atlantic (VS) flight number.

· Have a top tier membership with another qualifying airline. 

4. To be eligible for Silver status, Members must:  

· Have purchased a confirmed Virgin Atlantic revenue or redemption flight booked on Virgin Atlantic or one of our codeshare partners, in Economy or higher.

· Have at least one flight on your itinerary with a Virgin Atlantic (VS) flight number. 

· Have a second-tier membership with another qualifying airline. 

5. If you’ve booked a Virgin Atlantic Economy cabin and have a top tier membership with another airline, we’ll award you Silver status. If you upgrade your flight to Premium or Upper Class before we apply your status match, please contact us. Virgin Atlantic may, at its discretion, review the application and upgrade you to Flying Club Gold status.

6. This offer is not available to Members who have received Flying Club Gold or Silver status via status match within the previous five (5) years, except where expressly stated otherwise.

7. This offer is not available to Members who also hold any level of membership with a SkyTeam partner airline. 

8. We need proof of your status with your other airline e.g. a photo or digital scan of your member card  including your full name, status level and expiry date of your current status. Your matching status must be valid when you travel. 

9. Once you’ve sent us confirmation of your status, we’ll review your application and confirm what status you’re eligible for. We'll provide an update via email.

10. We’ll upgrade your status 72 hours before your qualifying flight. For a valid status match, you’ll need to have your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club number on your booking when you apply and travel.

11. Once your Flying Club account tier is updated, it can take up to 48 hours for the new status to show on your booking.

12. If you apply for a status match within 48 hours of your qualifying flight, your new status may not be updated in time for your departure. You won’t be able to make the most of your new status benefits until your reservation reflects your new status level. 

13.  If the qualifying booking is cancelled or changed without providing at least 72 hours written notice to the status match team via email, the status match may be cancelled, and your status may revert to Red. In such circumstances, eligibility for future status match offers will be determined at Virgin Atlantic’s discretion. This penalty shall not apply where the change or cancellation is due to circumstances beyond your control, including but not limited to airline-initiated changes, flight cancellations, government restrictions, or medical emergencies.

14. Your Flying Club Gold or Silver membership is valid for 12 months from the date your account is upgraded (“Membership Period”).

15. Gold members need to earn 1000 tier points in their Membership Period to retain their Gold status.

16. Silver members need to earn 400 tier points in their Membership Period to retain their Silver status.

17. This offer is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and has no cash or monetary value.  

18. Virgin Atlantic may amend, suspend, or withdraw our status match offer at any time, subject to applicable law.

19. Virgin Atlantic retains the right to approve or decline Gold and Silver membership at its discretion.

20. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
