The hotel

Having recently been the proud recipient of a ‘Best Renovations’ award, the Intercontinental Montréal offers luxury accommodation in one of the city’s most sought after locations. Combining the exclusivity of a boutique hotel with top-tier service, guests are most certainly in for a treat when staying here, relaxing in rooms that are sumptuously furnished with plenty of space to stretch out in. On the 10th floor is the fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment and aerobic classes. Alternatively, head to the indoor pool to swim a few laps or chill out in the spa tub. Osco! means ‘bravo!’, a sentiment you’ll heartily agree with at the Intercontinental’s signature restaurant, a Province-inspired brasserie with an ever-changing menu. There’s also the Sarah B Bar, named after Sarah Bernhardt, the queen of the French Tragedy, whose spirit is said to wander the vaults of the hotel — so keep your eyes peeled! At ‘green hour’, Absinthe is served. Known as the ‘green fairy’ it was said to enhance the creative energies of the great 19th century European writers and artists, including Sarah Bernhardt, but beware, at 55–75% proof, it’s not a tipple for the faint hearted!

For instance, we brought our dog and he was eating out of paper plates, so the maid brought us dog bowls for him! The concierges know so many details and can get you around the city whether by uber or metro, and were able to get us reservations when the online forums said they had no tables. It was our anniversary and it did not disappoint: the concierge told the restaurant and they had a free dessert for us! The hotel also had a suprise for us! Breakfast is excellent / however we did order a la carte. The room was very quiet. If you enjoy swimming and working out, the gym and pool are lovely, and there is a terrace off of the pool for sunbathing. The pool is the perfect temperature. This was our third time here and it will not be our last. Read less

Stayed for just one night post cruise. Had a room on 19th floor with king bed. I am amazed at the negative reviews, we found the hotel wonderful. We arrived at 9am well before check in but we were checked in and had access to our room. The bell staff had already taken our luggage so we could go and check out the city. The reception desk lady was lovely. So friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable with crisp white sheets and plenty of towels. We had a city view which was lovely and quiet. Would I stay again? In a heartbeat. Read less

Michael greeted us with a beaming smile and kindness, taking the time to ensure we had everything we needed while checking in and during our first visit to Montreal. He called shortly after we arrived at our room to make sure it was perfect. The hotel was perfectly located in the downtown area and even had access to the underground "city." We will definitely return to Montreal and the Intercontinental again. Read less

Dated decor, but the room was very comfortable, kept very clean, and they kept providing with more free bottled water than I knew what to do with! It's very central which was very convenient. Would've appreciated being pointed towards the entrance to the RESO - I eventually found it after a couple of days. Staff friendly and helpful though.

This hotel is very outdated. It’s crying for a renovation. My guess, the rooms were last updated in the 1980s. In room coffee maker - Keurig (yuck) - they need to upgrade to Nespresso. Restaurant dinner was very good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking underground. No valet / no bellman.
