Wellbeing, at altitude

Our top ten tips for a comfortable flight

  1. Move
The best way to stay comfortable and minimise the risk of clotting disorders like Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is to keep moving. Try to change your sitting position regularly, and avoid crossing your legs.
  2. Walk
Take the end of a movie as your cue to leave your seat and go for a stroll around the cabin. As well as getting your circulation going, it’s a chance to check out the view and share travel tips with your fellow passengers.
  3. Stretch
You’ll find our unique inflight exercise routine in the wellness section of your inflight entertainment system. It takes just 8 minutes and stretches out all major muscle groups to keep you feeling relaxed, revitalised and free of muscular tension.
  4. Moisturise
Keep your skin protected from the dry air onboard by regularly applying moisturiser and lip balm. If you wear contact lenses, it’s a good idea to bring your glasses with you, as your eyes might feel drier than usual.
  5. Sleep
It’s a great idea to catch some zzz’s during your flight if you can, and you’ll find plenty of content in our infight entertainment to help you drift off, including meditations from Headspace, ASMR tracks and relaxing music.
Unless specifically recommended by your doctor, we’d advise you not to take a sleeping tablet, as this will make you less likely to get up and stretch your legs occasionally, which is beneficial for your circulation on long flights.
  6. Ears
While our cabins are kept at comfortable pressure levels, they sometimes change slightly, which can cause discomfort – especially if you’re suffering with a heavy cold, sinusitis or ear problems.
Sucking a sweet, chewing gum or holding your nostrils and gently blowing through your nose should help equalise the pressure - but not too hard or you could damage your eardrum. If that doesn’t do the trick, have a chat with a member of the cabin crew for some more advice.
  7. Eat
Meals and drinks are all included, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy creating our menu. That said, try not to eat too much in one go, as it can leave you feeling bloated (and yes, a bit gassy). Don’t forget, if you have any dietary requirements, you can order a special meal by logging in to My Booking.
  8. Hydrate
It's important to keep yourself hydrated throughout the flight. Our cabin crew will always be happy to provide you with a glass of water or juice. Try offsetting anything boozy with a glass of something softer, just for good measure.
  9. Clothes
Stay comfortable by wearing loose fitting, comfortable clothes and shoes. Stretchy waistbands are perfect for coping with the bloat, and layers mean you can easily adapt to changing temperatures onboard, and when you arrive at your destination.
  10. Jet lag
Set your watch to your destination’s time as soon as you’ve settled in onboard. This will help you adapt to your new time zone whilst you're on your flight, and you'll get a head start on beating jet lag.

So, where to?

Unwind your mind…

Give your mind and body a rest with a well-earned break. Escape the daily grind and feel your stress and anxiety melt away with a trip to paradise. Why not level up the relaxation and indulge in a luxurious spa treatment or some yoga?

Energise your body…

It’s time to get your body moving, and we don’t mean hitting the gym. Get your steps in exploring the big city, hiking through tropical rainforests or racing round theme parks. For something different, why not try cycling, surfing or kayaking? However you want to explore, working up a sweat has never been more fun.

Make your heart happy…

Travel brings people together, and spending time with the people you love is one of the best things you can do for your mental health. Sharing experiences and having fun together really gets those endorphins flowing, so book some time away for uninterrupted quality time with your favourite people.

Getting you to your happy place

Beach days, mountain hikes or long lunches with your favourite people? Whatever your version of bliss, we’ll help you get there. Because having a trip to look forward to changes everything.
