Man eating food in Seoul

Food for the Seoul

It’s especially good when it’s a steaming bowl of jjigae from a tucked-away stall in Namdaemun Market. Meals are made to share — from tteokbokki and bibimbap at street stalls to late-night cafés buzzing with Seoul’s caffeine-fuelled culture. Expect sizzling snacks, hole-in-the-wall gems and the occasional Michelin-starred surprise

Gyeongbokgung Palace

Seoul’s Crown Jewel: Gyeongbokgung Palace

Wander temples tucked into the hills, or stay central at Gyeongbokgung Palace - Seoul’s royal heart. Wander through grand gates, catch the colourful guard ceremony and soak up centuries of culture at the heart of the city. Spring or autumn bring the most vivid views - rent a hanbok for free entry. And remember: palaces and markets close early, so start your day on Seoul time.

Seoul shopping

Seoul in style

Shopping here is an experience - glowing beauty counters in Myeongdong, luxury storefronts in Gangnam, and market stalls where bargaining is an art form (keep it polite and playful). Look for Tax-Free stores to make the most of your finds, then slip into a boutique or late-night concept store to see how Seoul defines style, on its own terms.

Skyline views in Seoul

The heart of old Seoul

Step into Seoul’s quieter corners, where glass towers give way to tiled rooftops and winding alleys. In Bukchon Hanok Village, centuries-old wooden homes sit between art galleries and tea houses, a living blend of heritage and modern life. Wander gently, pause often, and take it in - this is Seoul’s history, still very much at home in the present.

After hours

From the creative pulse of Hongdae to the international buzz of Itaewon and the sleek energy of Gangnam, Seoul’s nightlife has a space for every mood. Start the evening with cocktails or street eats, then wind down at a jjimjilbang — a Korean spa where locals recharge with saunas, scrubs and conversation that lingers past midnight.
