HURRICANE MELISSA – IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All of our thoughts are with the people of Jamaica, their families and loved ones, following the devastating impact and loss of life caused by Hurricane Melissa. Virgin Atlantic has a longstanding and proud connection with Jamaica, and the Caribbean holds a special place in the hearts of our people and customers, including the Jamaican community living in the UK.

Our teams have been working closely with local authorities and monitoring conditions on the ground. We’re pleased to share that we plan to operate daily relief flights between Saturday, 01 November and Tuesday, 04 November. These flights will operate from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (MBJ) following news that the airport will safely reopen on Saturday, 01 November.

Customers Away From Home?

Customers that wish to be rebooked onto a relief flight, must register as Away From Home using the link below. This allows us to confirm their location and begin making new travel arrangements. Without registration, we won’t be able to rebook you onto a recovery flight. This step is critical to help us support and prioritise their return home.

Click here to register as Away From Home

Customers who have registered will be rebooked and updates will be sent via email as soon as their new flight details are confirmed. Our teams are working at pace to rebook customers onto the earliest available flight, and updated travel details will be sent by email. These will also appear in My Booking.

Given the number of customers we’re supporting, rebooking will take some time, but please rest assured that we have all registered customers details and will be in touch as soon as bookings are updated. Customers do not need to contact us in the meantime.

We’ll cover reasonable costs for accommodation, meals, and transport where required. Please retain receipts and submit your claim here once you have returned home.

Available options if your flight has been cancelled prior to travel:

  • If you have been impacted by one of these flight cancellations, take a look at our Cancellation Policy here, where you’ll find all options available to you, such as rebooking and claiming a refund.
  • For any customers travelling with Virgin Atlantic Holidays, one of our team will contact you to discuss your options.
  • Customers booked through a travel agent or third party are advised to contact their travel provider directly to rebook onto an alternative flight or to discuss options, as we are unable to process changes on bookings made by a third-party company.

If your flight is still scheduled to operate
If you’re due to travel to Montego Bay and your flight is currently operating as planned, but you’d like to explore other options, we’re here to help. Our team is available to talk through the choices available to you and offer support. You can find our contact details below.
