Anyone wishing for a sophisticated and calming approach to accommodation in Chicago should look no further than the Royal Sonesta which rates guests' well-being and comfort levels just as seriously as the stylish interior décor. The hotel offers just that little bit extra with personalised in-room Yoga sessions on the TV or perhaps you would prefer an early morning jog? Of course, you don't have to jog to be able to enjoy the sights and guests staying at the Palomar will be pleased to learn that River North, Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile are all within walking distance. Further fabulous fitness facilities come in the form of the hotel's indoor heated swimming pool and 24-hour gym which are both guaranteed to help you work up an appetite just in time to check out the gastro-lounge dishes at the Sable Kitchen & Bar. What with in-room dining options and complimentary wine tasting sessions every day at 5.00pm, it's a wonder that you'll find the time to set foot outside however, it would be rude not to so this is your chance to give the Windy City a whirl.

Very clean and spacious rooms. My background is in the cleaning business so I tend to be nitpicky about hotel rooms. This one was the cleanest hotel I've stayed at in a long time.
Shaunda was super friendly to our 1 year old while we were hanging out in the lobby.
Highly recommend this hotel!

Good visit. Clean hotel in a great location. Red line right across the street and near to the river and magnificent mile. Restaurant on site is very nice. Downside is the pool has been shut down by the city, ice machine did not work, and our headboard was in bad shape. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this stature. 17th floor…

Downside is the pool has been shut down by the city, ice machine did not work, and our headboard was in bad shape. Not what you would expect from a hotel of this stature. 17th floor terrace was beautiful but closes at 10 pm, so not a lot of time to enjoy the night skyline during the summer. Great lobby and awesome patio out front for relaxing. It was $78 to park my car, but not unusual for downtown Chicago. I did see self park options down the street for $45.

Overall, I'd say this is a decent place to stay in Chicago. Somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars.
Pros: The staff is kind and helpful, the lobby and entrance are nice and quaint. The fruit infused water is delicious, especially on a hot summer day. The space of the king bed suites are nice and the rooms w/suites attached are pretty spacious. The Magnificent Mile, the river walk, and good food are just a short walk away.
Con: We arrived after work at 10pm only to learn that they were already at capacity due to a plumbing issue that made half of the rooms uninhabitable. Upon further questioning, we learned that this had been an issue for 2 days but we weren't notified of it, even after we called earlier that day to notify them of the late arrival. They placed us in a makeshift room from the living room that was connected to someone else's room with a pullout bed. Not the worst thing to ever happen, but definitely not ideal. The only thing that made it okay is the staff's commitment to upgrading our room the next day, not charging for that night's stay, and a complimentary bottle of wine. This is the main reason I'm giving the 4 stars b/c they did right the wrong. Also, before entering the upgraded room, they were installing tv's that afternoon so we actually couldn't use our room for an hour and a half.
Not a bad hotel at all and I commend them on pivoting and rectifying the situation, but the communication could stand to be improved on things that impact the guest. Some of the upholstery could stand to be repaired in the rooms as well.

Ms Shonda with public space,
Was so nice and helpful. She gave us some tips on Chicago, she got me some towels and all she do is smile and ask you how are you and do you need anything. Such a sweet lady. I hope to run into her again in the near future. All employees she smile and be polite to the guest. I smile just when I see her. Thanks Shonda…
