Waterfront spot Pier 1 in Montego Bay is the place to go for traditional Jamaican food, such as curried goat and stewed oxtail. Once you've eaten your fill, hit the venue's open-air nightclub and dance the night away to a mix of international and Jamaican music.

Appleton Rum Estate produces the island’s most famous export. At the estate, you can learn more about the rum-making process, take a tour and enjoy tastings. Top tip: try it with some Ting or fresh coconut water for a refreshing tipple.

Head to Negril and enjoy some broiled Caribbean lobster at Rick’s Café. It was voted one of the top 10 bars in the world, but this spot offers even more than just world-class food – it’s known locally as the place to watch cliff divers perform daring jumps against the backdrop of fiery orange sunsets.

Every April the biggest festival in Jamaica brings music, dance and pageantry to the streets of Kingston. You'll be spending hours on your feet dancing, and you may well end up covered in paint, water and powder.

Visit Jamaica in early February and enjoy a festive atmosphere across the whole of the island in celebration of cultural icon Bob Marley’s birthday. 

Learning a few Jamaican sayings will help you interact with the locals, try ‘Wah Gwaan’  for a casual greeting, or 'Weh Yuh Deh Pon' when greeting a friend.

Experience the spirit of Bob Marley, and take a trip to the village where he was born and lived much of his life. Journey through the countryside and explore the remote village that gave Bob the inspiration of many of his songs.

Take a boat ride to the tiny Floyd’s Pelican Bar. This quirky bar is made out of driftwood and located on a sandbar out to sea off the coast of Parottee Bay. Enjoy a dip in the water, sip an ice-cold beer and play a game of dominoes with the locals.

Dunn's River Falls, Montego Bay, is an awesome family-friendly day out with an amazing array of sparkling waterfalls, secluded spots for swimming and traditional craft markets. 

Found in the western town of Negril and renowned for its impossibly turquoise waters, Seven Mile beach is the place to be for water sports and live music.

Feeling daring? Cruise alongside crocodiles and unique wildlife in Black River in Montego Bay, one of the longest rivers in Jamaica and named after the darkness of its water. 

Take in the world famous Blue Mountain Coffee plantations, cultivated between 2,000 and 5,000 feet above sea level for a day you breathe in and keep with you.
