No news. No shoes. Just an overwater villa with your name on it.
Water so clear it hardly looks real. Powder-soft sand slipping into the shallows. Sun-warmed jetties made for sipping cocktails or stretching out for a massage. This scattered archipelago will make you stop, look twice, and wonder if somewhere can really be this lovely.

Honeymoon highlights
In the Maldives, the good stuff starts at the water’s edge. Clear lagoons, coral reefs, palm-lined islands and spectacular sunsets all come with the territory. Whether you’re snorkelling, sailing or simply staying put, this is a place that makes slowing down feel very easy.
The Maldives is famous for powder-soft white sand, clear lagoons and palm-fringed islands. Whether you’re stretching out by the water or wandering along the shoreline, the beaches here make doing very little feel like exactly the right plan.
One of the joys of an overwater villa in the Maldives is having the lagoon right on your doorstep. In many resorts, you can step down into clear water and snorkel among colourful reef life without needing to go anywhere else.
Sunset in the Maldives tends to put on quite a show, with the sky shifting through gold, pink and fiery orange. Watch from your beachfront villa, take a sunset cruise, or sail aboard a traditional Maldivian dhoni as the light disappears over the Indian Ocean.
On certain nights in the Maldives, bioluminescent plankton can light the shallows with an electric-blue glow. It’s a rare natural phenomenon that turns an evening walk along the beach into something rather harder to forget.
The Maldives isn't just for lovers - a trip here can also make for an ideal family holiday. From included watersports and snorkelling to floating water parks, there are plenty of ways to fill the day.
Paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkel gear are often included with an all-inclusive stay in the Maldives. So you can spend more time out on the lagoon, without every dip, paddle or snorkel adding to the bill.
At Siyam World, families can take on a huge floating water park set right in the turquoise lagoon. Expect inflatable obstacles, slides and plenty of bouncing, climbing and splashing for kids and grown-ups alike.
Snorkelling in the Maldives brings colourful coral, tropical fish and clear, warm water into very easy reach. Whether it’s a first glimpse of a clownfish or a family swim above the reef, there’s plenty happening beneath the surface.
Private overwater villas, sunset cocktails, candlelit dinners on the beach. AKA, the perfect setting for kicking off your happily ever after.
Kick-start your day, and your metabolism, with a floating breakfast in the Maldives. If you’ve nabbed yourselves a room with a private pool, settle in with fresh fruit, coffee and a few treats, all served with a rather spectacular view of the Indian Ocean.
A honeymoon in the Maldives is a very good excuse to slow things right down. Many resorts offer couples’ spa treatments overlooking the ocean, so you can switch off together with warm breezes, sea views and the sound of the waves nearby.
An overwater villa in the Maldives gives you plenty of space to disappear into your own little world. Think private pools, uninterrupted ocean views and steps leading straight into the lagoon, ideal for lazy mornings, sunset dips and doing very little together.
Many resorts offer private trips to secluded sandbanks and uninhabited islands, giving you the chance to find a little corner of the Maldives to yourselves. With white sand, turquoise water and not much else around, it’s a beautifully simple way to spend a few hours together.
Some might say the restaurants and destination dining experiences in the Maldives are beyond compare. And we would have to agree. Choose a romantic spot to share the love and your sweet dessert dish (only if you want, of course).

The Maldives is a little slice of paradise in the Indian Ocean, just southwest of Sri Lanka and India. With 1,200 islands to choose from, it’s basically the ultimate island-hopping dream, where crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches are just the beginning.
The Maldives is made up of about 1,200 islands, scattered across 26 beautiful coral atolls. While not all of these islands are inhabited, many are home to dreamy resorts, perfect for escaping to your own slice of paradise. Whether you're exploring secluded beaches, diving into crystal-clear waters, or soaking up the luxury, there's no shortage of stunning spots to discover in this tropical wonderland.
The Maldives enjoys a tropical climate all year round, meaning warm temperatures, plenty of sunshine, and a touch of humidity. If you’re after the best weather, plan your trip between December and April - this is the driest season, with clear blue skies, long sunny days, and the perfect conditions for beach lounging, snorkelling, and sunset cocktails.
A direct flight from London to the Maldives takes around 10 to 11 hours. But trust us, those white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters are more than worth the journey.
Good news... you don’t need a visa to visit the Maldives. When you arrive in this island paradise, you’ll get a free 30-day visa on arrival. You will need to complete and submit your Traveller declaration form (within 72 hours) electronically via IMUGA, both pre-departure and pre-return. Each member of your party including children must complete the form and you must take a photo or screenshot of the QR code on completion of the form.
The Maldives is 4 or 5 hours ahead of the UK, depending on the time of year:
Some resorts even have their own ‘island time’ (usually an hour ahead of Malé time) to give guests extra daylight for beach lounging and sunset cocktails. Because why not?
