We were in NYC last week and stayed at this property. Our train arrived earlier than the check-in time. We went to the hotel intending to leave our bags so we did not have to lug them around. We were thrilled to find that the front desk allowed us to check in. The agent said that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor but that that room was not ready. He said if we were willing to accept a lower floor, we could check in right away. We immediately agreed to the lower floor, happy to be able to access the room. We were quickly on our way, along with a small goodie bag.
The room was honestly larger than we were expecting for NYC and generally clean. We noted some stains on the draperies but nothing major. The bed was much softer than we would have preferred, but you can't have everything. Our floor was low enough that we were able to use the steps, so we did not have to wait for the elevators (though when we did take the elevator there was no major wait).
Breakfast was a madhouse. It would have been helpful to have more room, but there was no more room to have. The offerings were a combination of fresh/hot and pre-packaged items. We found it odd that the attendants would remove the nearly full platters of eggs or bacon to refill them, rather than have a spare to swap out. This made for some wait times while we waited for items to return. And with the crowds in the breakfast area anyway, the space became cramped. Still, the attendants were friendly and everyone seemed to be working very hard.
If the price was right, we would not hesitate to stay at this property again in the future.

Great experience in a great location

The staff was great, the room was comfortable, the wifi was good, and the bathroom has good shelf space. The location is awesome, it was great being able to walk around midtown and Times Square. There are so many great nearby restaurants. I will visit again.
An average hotel

Not bad, but average compared to other Holiday Inns I've stayed in. There are no refrigerators or microwaves in the rooms. Times Square is a 7-8 minute walk away.

This Holiday Inn Express provides smaller hotel rooms in the middle of NYC's Garment District near Pennsylvania Station. The room I had was functional (the air-conditioning worked; important on a hot summer day), but even two people would find this room very crowded. As with other Holiday Inn Express places, there is only a breakfast buffet for food (there are plenty of local restaurants on this same street). Useful for 1-2 nights.
