Recent trip to this resort was underwhelming at best. Breaking this resort down in several areas: 1. Resort grounds and scenery are the highlights of this resort and apparent where most investment by this resort is directed. It’s the Big Island and that in itself does not disappoint. 2. Stayed in Makai rooms. - Upon entry immediately noticeable the room is outdated, plain, was not thoroughly cleaned, wallpaper peeling, obvious repairs to tile in shower, shampoo, conditioner etc dispensers in shower were empty and had to track down room service for refills, poor lighting, easily can hear into next room, trash left by other guest outside their rooms in halls for several hours …. For the price being paid to stay this was far below the quality of what one would expect to stay. 3. As others have said food offerings are limited. Breakfast buffet overpriced. I arrived a few min late from rest of my family and asked to pull a 5th seat up to sit with them and was told no No? I can’t sit with my family”No”. Ok so I left. Food was average at best as told by my family. No other real breakfast options available. Front desk told my wife she would be able to order from a menu but was also told no when she had arrived to breakfast. Quality and options for other meals also limited 4. Work out rooms are located almost in a basement area near SPA. Rooms are small, dank/musty, equipment is old, some rusted, some broken and floor damaged. Overall for size and supposed quality of resort this was well below expectations. 5. Was told upon renting Cassabellas that individuals would be around to take drink/ food orders while relaxing near pool. No one ever showed up or were even seen in area all day 6. They promote a Dolphin habit /experience which I’m highly surprised hasn’t got more pushback. The Dolphin habitat is small with at least 5-6 Dolphins kept there. They looked well cared for by staff (our room overlooked this area) however we all agreed it looked far too small and shallow to be healthy for the dolphins. It saddened us to watch them in there. 7. Adult pool very small, hidden and stuck in interior courtyard area of one of the buildings and had kids in anyway. Only view was of interior building / room doors. 8. We have stayed at other resorts of equal or maybe slightly higher pricing on other islands, in Caribbean and other places and this was not on even ground with other resorts. Again yes you are paying for the Island and scenery and we understood that, but cannot recommend to anyone to stay here otherwise for price you will be paying. Overall 3/5 with other issues not mentioned but can’t recall at this point. This company/ resort needs to reassess where it reinvests its profits -updating rooms, amenities, and dining options would be my suggestion. We would not recommend staying here. Check out one of the other resorts in area with comparable or slightly higher pricing but better quality ( we toured several other resorts having dinner reservations at them). Read less

My overall experience at Hilton Waikoloa Village was disappointing. While the resort grounds are stunning and well maintained, the sheer size of the property is not matched by the infrastructure or staffing needed to support it. I stayed in the Palace Tower. One elevator was out of service, leading to long waits, especially during peak times. There are no accessible stairs as an alternative. The tram system had only one operating train, which was unreliable and slower than walking. Everything is a long walk away—which might not be a problem if the transportation system actually worked well. The room itself was spacious, modern, and clean. A few staff members were kind and tried their best, but it was clear they were overwhelmed and overstressed. Waits for check-in, dining, and services were long across the board. Food was expensive for the quality offered, and the water pressure in the shower was poor—not what you want after a long flight. As a Diamond member, I wasn’t expecting an upgrade at a large resort, but being placed on the second floor with no view was still surprising, especially as a regular Hilton guest. I also rented a cabana at the Kona Pool—advertised as including food and beverage service. Not once in six hours did a server stop by. I was later told only one server was assigned to all cabanas that day. Smokers, be prepared: the designated area is far away from most rooms and completely exposed to the sun. For Diamond Members: I was assigned the room category I booked (which I expected), but was surprised to be placed on the second floor with no view. The 18 USD food and beverage credit of 18 USD as expected did not go far at this property. Unless you’re using free night certificates or redeeming a lot of points as part of a large family vacation, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. There are better, more efficiently run options in Hawaii. Sadly, I won’t be returning. Read less

Front desk associate (Annie) was marvelous. Her patience, support and pleasant demeanor made a very unpleasant hotel experience feel much better. Can’t thank her enough for helping my family enjoy our time at the Hilton Waikoloa

Let’s discuss different aspects of this hotel: 1. The staff are generally not friendly, especially at the breakfast buffet. 2. The quality of food at the breakfast buffet is average and, in my opinion, not worth the $50. 3. The Makai Tower is close to the entrance, but if your room is in another tower, expect a long walk—around 8 minutes—to get there. There is a tram, but it’s slow and often involves a long wait. This can be a problem if you’re traveling with someone who has limited mobility. 4. My room was in the Palace Tower (Grand Room); these rooms are updated, clean, and nice. 5. The lagoon is family-friendly and offers great options for paddleboarding and swimming. It’s possibly the best part of the hotel. 6. The pools are nice. 7. There is no direct beach access, but the lagoon is connected to the ocean. 8. Very limited dinning option in this hotel. 9. However the island is amazing. Read less
