The overall condition of the hotel was old and poor. Not how it is represented in the photos. Upstairs rooms are mostly accessible only by staircases that are not well marked, and a single elevator that you must walk multiple hallways to access. Excellent staff. overall aesthetics were not at the level they have been in the past. The devil is in the details. The debris, trash, and unkempt landscape drew attention from this iconic location.
Awesome family vacation spot

Resort was beautiful and conveniently located next to both Monterey and Carmel. Loved the outdoor fire pits and complementary smores! Very friendly and helpful staff.

Don’t get me wrong the grounds are amazing. But the beds were the worst hotel beds I’ve slept in, in my entire life. Terrible pillows, too stiff and typical bad hotel scratchy sheets. Overall the room was just nothing special either.

Wow - terrible experience. Stayed at this tired hotel for a conference. Extended for a night. Specially asked if they needed to rekey our room card. We were told it was taken care of. Arrived back and - of course - keys don’t work. Okay stuff happens….

Wow - terrible experience. Stayed at this tired hotel for a conference. Extended for a night. Specially asked if they needed to rekey our room card. We were told it was taken care of. Arrived back and - of course - keys don’t work. Okay stuff happens….
We called guest services. Told that they would send new cards right away…. Nothing. Call back. Nothing. Finally I have to walk to the front desk myself.
Get there and ask why is it that after a long wait and several calls, I (the guest) can walk all the way to the lobby before they can be bothered to send someone the cards. Instead of being apologetic - front desk staff first try’s to blame guest services and then cops this disdainful and “I could give a sh$t” attitude - because I am unhappy - which in retrospect shouldn’t have surprised me given the front desk’s key card ineptitude, but rrrrreally ???
Front desk manager “Lea” then intervenes - but instead of apologizing or even listening says “this conversation is over” to me - apparently complaining about guest service is a prohibited topic at the Hyatt these days (especially with other guest nearby).
I know hiring these days is tough, but wow - truly one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever encountered. Especially from the “Assistant Front Office Manager” Lea.
When you have an old tired 70’s property (with smelly corridors and elevators) - the last thing you need is incompetence and indifference from your staff - especially your “manager”.
