Dress code: In the restaurants during the day, resort casual is accepted. Swimwear must be covered and dry. In the evening, smart dress for ladies and collared shirts, smart T-shirts, dress shirts, trousers or tailored shorts and closed shoes or dress sandals for gents in the evenings. In the evening, beachwear and gym wear are not permitted.

“Pineapple Beach Caribbean Getaway”

Our winter sun holiday led us to the fabulous island of Antigua and after researching extensively the Pineapple beach club resort.This hotel ticks all the boxes for a genuine Caribbean feel resort away from the corporate hotel chain offers- you will not be disappointed! Location - the resort lies about 30 minutes from the airport - taxi transfers from desk outside the main terminal cost $42 government capped- it is in the NE of the island on the Atlantic side so a little remote but on a small island easy to reach other places. Hotel - welcoming refreshing towel and rum/ fruit punch on arrival smiling faces made the start to our holiday a good one. We had booked a garden room with partial sea view Room 314 via Virgin holidays this turned out to be a good choice with views over the gardens and the sound of waves gently breaking just in view. The room was large and had recently been repainted large comfortable king size bed , fridge, ferocious hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities ,TV limited channels ironing board - plugs were US mode so UK visitors need to bring adaptors. Very large balcony with good views - bathroom included all toiletries adequate shower. Beach and grounds - the resort is located in Long Bay a smallish bay with soft sand and calmish waters long enough for an early morning beach stroll - water sports hobbie cats kayaks are available but when we were there it was windy so limited opportunity to participate. Grounds are kept immaculately tidy with a squad of gardeners working to maintain the effect. Food and Drink - the main eating area is the Topaz buffet dining room for all meals - open to the sea breezes and local bird life . Plenty of variety available breakfast fresh fruit / cereals/ cooked / omelette pancakes and waffles French toast Lunch salads and some cooked - evening meals themed nights - roast on Sunday , Asian , Tex Mex . A la cartes - these need to be booked in advance ideally early on - Italian El Pietros - reasonable European cuisine and Pineapple Grill - grilled dishes strip steak salmon ect both were fine . For special occasions Orchid offered more for a $ 50 additional charge . Snack bar had a regular supply of hotdogs / burgers / fries/ pizzas and please go to the Outhouse at the top of the hill for friendly service great views and ribs/ jerk chicken / fried beans / salad. The resort has numerous bars which provide decent cocktails alcoholic and non alcoholic- good local beer- wine mainly red and white ( no rose) and some branded spirits Gordon gin Johnny Walker whiskey - useful places to refill water bottles for the heat as the resort only provides 2 plastic water bottles on arrival. Entertainment - plenty going on resort orientation aqua gym painting classes jewellery making tie dye tee shirts volleyball ect Evening low key singers trio karaoke film night dj - demographic dictates an early curfew so 10.30 is run down time Island - do go out and about to see the island and it’s friendly people - excursions are numerous on both land and sea - we visited Devils bridge which is a half hour hike from the hotel take water and do not go in the heat of the day Took a pink panther half day excursion hotel pick up to Shirley Heights English Harbour Nelson’s Dockyard Pigeon Point beach great half day island orientation thanks to the lovely Gaby. St John’s the capital is worth a short visit for the cathedral / museum / cruise port area. We would have liked to go on a sea excursion but it was very windy whilst there so chose not to. Staff - a key element of any hotel/ resort are its staff and we thoroughly enjoyed our interactions with the majority at PBC. 1671 coffee shop- Tina Annenetta Renee and Wallace were a pleasure to see each day producing great coffee and added treats - Topaz dining - Jo Ann omelettes with a smile / Troy on pancakes - Nicole smiling greeting every day- Egebert, Kai and many more. Ents- Anne Marie the fun queen , Tyrian and others. All the bar staff , security, gardeners and reception all smiled and communicated - all good was the question - how could it not be . Finally this resort has a warmth and rustic charm to it - relaxed calming and genuine - you can relax and chill or be active as you need or mix it up with some of each. Would I return - yes I would ( time and funds permitting of course

“Quiet and relaxing... just what we were looking for!”

We are a married couple in our mid-40s that were looking for a nice, quiet place to spend a kid-free week and get away from winter weather. Our criteria were pretty simple: a clean and comfortable room with a nice view, easy access to the beach, good quality food & drink and a calm and relaxing atmosphere (not at all interested in the party vibe of some island resorts). Pineapple Beach Club Antigua checked all of the boxes and it’s clear to us why we met so many guests who regularly return to the resort. Pineapple Beach Club Antigua is a fairly small resort. If you are looking for a ton of activities and dining options you may find yourself disappointed, but we found the food to be consistently good to excellent, especially the Pineapple Grill (which we ate at twice), The Orchid (which carries a surcharge but is worth the price of $50/per person) and The Outhouse (unfortunate name, yes, but offers delicious barbecue and spectacular views). There is also a snack bar that serves burgers, fries, nachos, and other quick meals - simple,but quite good! Even the buffet, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, was consistently good and offered just enough variety and island-inspired dishes to keep it interesting. The only restaurant we were disappointed in was Chef Pietro’s, but that could be because we get plenty of good quality Italian food at home in Toronto. In addition to the restaurants there is a great little coffee shop that serves specialty coffees all day long and also had ice cream and baked goods, as well as two bars. Service everywhere we went was extremely friendly and responsible. Of course what draws people to the islands is the sun and sand. One huge plus of this resort is that you don’t need to get up at the crack of down to reserve chairs. We often had a casual breakfast at the buffet around 8:30 or 9 and by 10am there were still plenty of loungers on the chair and by the pool area. The beach was amazing - soft sand, shaded spots close to a building on one side (which is where we usually set up), and chairs on the other side with lots of palm tree and umbrella shade. We found the water was quite calm, even when the orange flag was on display. There were nicely sized floating loungers secured in place that would sometimes fill up - but it was rare we couldn’t get one. We are more interested in a beach over the poolside, but they seemed quite nice and were never over crowded, also with plentiful lounge chairs and cabanas. A few surprises: The coffee option in the room was not great but the coffee shop was great, just meant an early morning walk to pick some up. While the coffee shop had pastries they were mostly desserts. It would have been nice to see more danishes, croissants and muffins for breakfast. There is no stocked fridge in the room - but we actually didn’t mind and if we really wanted it we could have had it stocked for a fee. Otherwise you can always grab a few drinks at the bar and bring them back to your own. We were concerned initially about the fact that there were only two bars - one of which closed early, but this was rarely a problem. It’s worth noting that the wait staff does not provide beach or poolside service, so you need to actually get up off your chair to go get a drink. Not a problem for us - and in fact we found it kept us a bit more in line without overindulging. From past experience at other all inclusive resorts, it is far too easy when rum punch is delivered to your chair beachside at 10am! All in all an excellent place to spend a week without the kids and we will definitely be back. It was clean, friendly and relaxing, and we liked how close it was to the airport - only a 30 minute taxi ride vs. the long drives we were accustomed to at resorts in Jamaica and Dominican Republic. If you’re looking for a party vibe and a ton of activities, this is likely not the place for you, but we loved it.

A beautiful location for a beach resort. Quiet atmosphere and wonderful rooms. Entire resort always clean with excellent service. I have been traveling for years, and this resort provides the best quality of customer service I have ever received. The restaurants are wonderful. Some you will need to make reservations to avoid missing outstanding dinners. Fun and entertaining activities at resort. Great amenities and options for excursions. Great value for a vacation. Excellent experience.
