The resort was amazing and the staff were great. If you’re a young couple this may not be the best fit for you. The only down fall for us was the food and drinks we were disappointed by the food especially

Sunset at the Palms is a hidden gem and we would go back in a heartbeat. My wife and I shared 10 wonderful days there in June 2025. The resort experience was great but, like any resort, there are some things that could be improved. Hence the 4-star rating. We chose this resort based on other reviews on Trip Advisor by previous guests, knowing it was not a 5-star resort, but it fitted our needs both financially and it met our expectations. I’ll try to keep it short and summarise the pros and cons, and you can take it from there. Pros: The staff really make this place; they are the best!. Standouts are Lynford (gardener), Michael (chef), Dotlyn (security), and Brittany (bar). Clean cabins and outstanding cleanliness of the resort. Quiet and private resort hidden amongst lush foliage and gardens (not a “concrete jungle”). Wake up to the sounds of birds and go to sleep to the sounds of tree frogs. Great private beach with enough thatched huts and lounges, security, clear and warm water. The food was very tasty, a variety that changes daily, fresh fruit, and the Jamaican jerk and scotch-bonnet-pepper touch. There was a great selection of cocktails at the bar. The Martini Bar was a nice touch. The friendly cats in the restaurant were a touch of home (Take a bag of cat treats for them when you go). Only 85 cabins/treehouses, not crowded. Comfortable bed. A/C worked well. Cons (Management, please note): Too little entertainment, no stage shows, same reggae band twice weekly, a mento band one night. Only one small pool, but nice. Premium liquor lacking. Rains caused having to wade through ankle-deep water on the walkway to get to our room #407, we had to go to dinner with wet beach shoes. The hot tub was closed for 5 days for “maintenance”. Wi-fi in the resort and room was intermittent. Room phone not working for days. No cream for coffee in restaurants. No ice cream anywhere (unbelievable for me). More specialty restaurants needed, only one specialty restaurant at the resort with not enough variety. General comments: In June, it rains every afternoon so be prepared for this. Adults only. Not a “party resort” (which is what we wanted). There is good snorkeling in the area. Short walk to the beach across a busy two-lane highway, but there are crossing guards there to help. Calm clear water at the beach but if you like bobbing in the waves, Bloody Bay is not the place for you. You get what you pay for and overall, we had a very pleasing and enjoyable time, and we will go back. It was very good value! Highly recommended. Read less

This resort is like a little slice of paradise! I’ve just come home from a 10 day stay at sunset at the palms and everything about it was amazing. I checked in online before arriving, and check in on arrival took all of 5 minutes with a welcome drink 🍸 We were then taken to our room which is a treehouse style bungalow. These bungalows are amazing, nestled in the trees in which you can hear all of the wildlife at night - I think maybe tree frogs? The rooms are very spacious and clean with large bathrooms and a large walk in shower. Plenty of space for storage of clothes and putting your suitcases out of site. Each room comes equipped with mini fridge - which is restocked daily with water, coke and red stripe. An iron and ironing board, and a kettle with teas a coffees. The resort grounds itself were absolutely beautiful, well kept and springing to life with different varieties of plants and flowers. You can also take a tour with the gardeners. The beach if absolutely breathtaking, with crystal clears waters and white sand. We’d spend each morning there before the afternoon showers. Looking for the Stingrays and carbs. The small pool is amazing with a swim up bar and plenty of sun beds. All of the staff were absolutely amazing, very friendly and approachable. The food was great, different themes each night which made a nice change each day. We tried both of the Al Carte restaurants which were both good. I really liked the Chefs showcase which highlighted the younger upcoming chefs, which each of them doing a little something. The coconut curried shrimp will live in my dreams forever more. We booked YS falls and Black River excursion through the resort- which was a little costly and you didn’t get a lot of time at all at YS - we only got an hour there. When really you could’ve done a full day there alone. Was absolutely beautiful. The only downfall was our driver for the excursions- although he seemed nice enough and attentive and really knowledgeable. He let it all down my literally stamping on a cats head whilst we were eating our lunch. As you can imagine this put a massive black shadow over the excursion and everyone who was there with us, upsetting a number of guests. Admittedly this is no reflection to Sunset at the palms or the amazing staff there. We will definitely be back to our little slice of paradise at Sunset at the Palms. Read less
