Just returned from this wonderful hotel.
Such a lovely resort.

Such a lovely resort.
My room was clean and comfortable. There was noise from the beach club next door, however I kind of liked it, whilst sitting on the balcony and inside the room I could not hear it. It did not impact on my stay.
I ate in the restaurant and took breakfast. The breakfast is out of this world and so much choice, I wanted to stay longer just to sample everything!
The staff are lovely and courteous.
I loved my stay here and miss my beach walks!

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid at all costs

I travel extensively for business, spending between 60 to 100 nights per year in luxury hotels around the world — so I know what to expect from high-end properties. Unfortunately, my recent stay at Alila Seminyak was the most disappointing hotel experience I’ve had in years.
1. Transfer Failure:
Despite booking a hotel transfer in advance, no one was waiting for me at the airport. I walked up and down the arrival area where drivers from other Hyatt Group hotels were present (including Alila and Andaz), but no one had my name. After 20 minutes of confusion, I had to book my own local taxi — a completely avoidable situation and unacceptable for a supposed five-star property.
2. No Functional Workspaces or AC Outlets:
I stayed for five nights in a suite with an ocean view. While the room was visually nice, it lacked a basic work setup — no high table, no desk, and the air conditioning barely kept up with the heat. Worse, there is not a single air-conditioned public outlet on the entire property — not the beach bar, not the restaurant. For a premium business traveler, this made it nearly impossible to work or relax during the day in a comfortable environment.
3. Harassment by Other Guests – and No Staff Protection:
The worst part of my stay happened when I visited the beach bar one evening and politely remarked that the menu was unclear — no standard categories like “Indonesian” or “Western,” just vague terms. I asked for nasi goreng, a basic Indonesian dish, which they didn't offer. I made no criticism of the staff, only of the menu’s presentation. Shortly after, I was confronted and harassed by a group of Australian guests, including two families, who told me I was not welcome and circled around me aggressively. I asked if they were hotel staff or owners — they were not. Despite being visibly targeted and harassed, no hotel staff intervened. They simply stood by as I was intimidated and pushed out of the bar. I was forced to leave my seat and could not eat or drink what I had ordered. To add insult to injury, I was still charged for the food and drinks I could not consume due to the harassment — and when I raised the issue with reception, they dismissed it. A staff member from the bar was standing nearby but made no effort to apologize or resolve anything. No refund, no acknowledgment of the incident, no action.
This was not just a service failure — it was a total breakdown in guest protection and responsibility. A Hyatt hotel has a duty to ensure that guests feel safe and respected, regardless of the actions of other guests. Instead, I was left isolated, humiliated, and ignored.
Reading other Tripadvisor reviews, I now see I’m not alone. This property might look appealing on the surface, but the management is clearly unprepared to deliver the professional, respectful experience expected at this price point and under the Hyatt brand. I will never return to Alila Seminyak, and I strongly advise serious travelers to stay away at all costs.

Quick but delightful stay in Bali
Jun 30, 2025Levinboys
From the check-in process to the rainy morning we left, the staff at Alila went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated! The property itself is right on the beach with great views, delicious food and easy access to Seminyak via shuttles to/from town. Our only complaint is we wish we had more time here and we’ll definitely come…

Exceptional staff and the Sea Salt restaurant is the next level. One of the best gyms in a hotel i have used. Will be going back.
