The hotel

Enjoy Louisiana hospitality at its finest at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter, a hotel located right in the beating heart of New Orleans. Guest rooms ensure a comfortable base from which to explore the myriad delights this city has to offer, and there’s a state-of-the-art gym as well as an outdoor swimming pool, perfect for cooling off in if you’re visiting in warm weather. The real jewel in the crown at this hotel though is Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House and Beyond. You’ve plenty of wonderful restaurants in the nearby vicinity but Dickie’s is not to be missed. Enjoy a rich array of tantalising Creole specialities, including freshly caught seafood, BBQ shrimp, thick steaks and decadent deserts. And rest assured, if it’s not in season, it’s not on the menu! Oysters are a house speciality, order a dozen at the bar whilst listening to the City’s best shuckers. It’s also a grand spot for a bit of ‘people watching’ with picture windows overlooking the action of Bourbon Street – fun you won’t be able to resist joining in with once dinner’s finished!

upon arrival at the Crowne Plaza, me and my husband checked in and requested an upgrade to a suite. We were told the price of what the price of the suite would be over what we had already paid. We agreed and were under the impression that we were charged for a suite. When we got to the room, we could clearly see that it was not a suite. It was supposed to be overlooking Bourban street but instead our view was a brick wall. The room was average and not worth the amount of money that we paid. On sunday night were awakened by an emergency alert in our room around 12:30am. Me and my husband exited the room and had to walk down 10 flights of stairs considering that we were on the tenth floor. Mind you I was scared and was just woken up out of a deep sleep so I wasn't really fully awake. Me and my husband made it down the last flight of stairs, along with the other hotel guest and then my shoe got stuck to the floor and I preceded to fall and hit my face. Thank God for the man that helped my husband get e up off the floor. I could have been severely injured or trampled on. As we all made it outside, a woman told us that it was a false alarm and that we could all go back to our rooms. She said someone pulled the fire alarm as a joke. Needless to say, I was pissed!!!! We never got a sorry for your inconvenience or anything. The overall experience was a great one but the hotel security needs to do better. The hotel staff that checked us in was nice but misled us about our room. Also the rooms need to be upgraded. Our toilet would not fill up on its own. We kept having to take the back off of it before it would fill up. Also the conditioner bottle in the shower was broken. Don't think that we will be back unless a few things are upgraded. As far as the location, it was excellent. But the hotel needs to do something about the people standing outside the entrance smoking pot!!! I saw alot of families with children checking into the hotel. I wouldn't want my kids to be subjected to that! Read less

The customer service is one of a kind, and the staff are always thoughtful and accommodating to any and all needs. I enjoy its incredible location to various fun spots in the area. There was a false fire alarm recently in the early hours of the morning. The staff made sure to communicate when the false alarm had been cleared by the fire department and informed everyone of the safe precautions to return to our rooms. Read less

When we checked in, the young man who checked us in, must have ignored the fact that I was a premium elite member, and put us in a room looking at a wall. I really didn't drive from Houston to stay in a room looking at wall. Alija changed that very quickly and efficiently. Give that young lady a raise! We will stay with you again on our next visit, as long as we don't have a room looking at a wall. Read less

Nice hotel, showing its age. Location cannot be beat. Lobby is beautiful. Rooms are up to date, but the building is so old that it is showing its age. Outside the front entrance seems to be a place to hang out and smoke pot. Really sketchy outside the front doors all day/ all night, but they have security outside so you are safe. You'll have to pass through a horrid cloud of pot smoke, cigarette smoke, body odor, and other foul smells every time you come or go. But honestly... that was really the only bad thing about the place. Our room was on the 3rd floor of the Astor tower. Absolutely quiet. Never heard a sound from Bourbon Street. Our view out the window was terrible (vacant building next door with all of the windows busted out), so we kept our curtain closed. Room was nice and clean. Beds were very nice. Maid service was very good every day. Be aware that there is a $27 daily "destination fee" that you MUST pay when you check in. For that, they give you a few freebies (we got 1 total beer coupon at the attached restaurant). If you go in knowing that you'll be charged the fee, then your stay will be more enjoyable. Pool was very, very small, but was nice and cold on an extremely hot day. Both partiers and families there. There was a pop-up bar at the pool and the server was super nice. Towels available at the door. Public transportation is right outside the door, and the location just cannot be beat. We enjoyed our visit and would/ will stay here again. Read less
