Casa Marina Key West, Curio Collection by Hilton

Key West, Florida Keys

Star rating

The hotel

Opened on New Year's Eve 1920, Casa Marina Resort is Key West’s original grand resort. Boasting a dramatic 'water walk' that leads to the resort's two largest swimming pools and the largest private beach in Key West, Casa Marina is a tranquil oasis close enough to the action of Duval Street. Offered on-site is a booking centre for world-class diving, fishing and boating, and it also has one of the largest fitness facilities in Key West, allowing you to work off those holiday indulgences! Guest rooms here are contemporary in style with whitewashed walls, textured tile floors and dark tropical hardwoods — a great place to retire to at the end of a busy day seeing the sights. For dining the hotel’s Sun Sun restaurant and bar, an open-air wood pavilion overlooking the pools and beach, is great for those seeking a casual atmosphere and plenty of that Floridian sun!! And as if all this wasn't enough, you can take advantage of the facilities at the sister property, The Reach, just one block away.

This property is stunning! We love Curio Collection properties for their character, history, and charm and Casa Marina is an incredible property. The best spontaneous decision ever, we will be back! I stay on room 292 on 2 floor ocean view room and it is actually a side view basic they lie on ocean view. This hotel is far away from 5 star and the money they charge not worth. First time visiting and never again. Read less

The whole hotel experience was amazing, especially Uygar at Dorada who was handling the whole pool deck with amazing service, Tim at the front desk and so many others whose names we didn’t catch. Everyone was so hospitable it made for an even better trip. Can’t wait to come back!

My wife and I spent a week at Casa Marina Key West, and we had an overall very good experience. Here are what we feel are the "pros" and "cons" related to the resort, grounds and amenities... Pros: 1) We were in one of the second-floor rooms with a balcony overlooking the pools and ocean. The view was great and the balcony was spacious with two loungers (and large umbrella) and two chairs with a table. The room wasn't large, but there was plenty of space to move around and ample storage for everything we packed for the trip. We found the room to be very clean. We had a king-size bed that was very comfortable. The pillows were not very firm, so we typically used both to sleep on. 2) The resort and grounds are beautiful. Well-manicured lawns and foliage. The main area inside the resort is beautiful and well appointed. 3) The pools (one family and one adult only) were clean and towels fully stocked. It was a busy week, so you need to claim chairs pretty early. 4) The entire staff was extremely professional and friendly. We didn't use daily room servicing as we wanted to be more eco-friendly. We kept the "do not disturb" placard on our door the entire time, but we received a text message daily from the resort asking if we wanted our room serviced, which was great communication in our opinion. We did ask for more bath towels once and they were left in a sealed bag outside our door. 5) We didn't drive to the resort, so can't comment about parking or valet. But ridesharing was very easy and we were able to get around the entire island at any time. 6) There are two restaurants on the property and we utilized both during our stay. The menu at Dorada is diversified, but pricey. Same with drinks. Be prepared to pay premium prices for food and drinks. 7) There is an in-room safe, which was nice for us to be able to store laptop and other valuables. Cons: 1) Food and drink prices are very high. But, that's pretty much true of any tourist location. If you want to spend less, then go to a local restaurant or bar. Tip: Stay away from the tourist trap venues. Ask locals where they go... 2) Bathroom was small with little countertop space. Shower was also very small (luckily both of us are of slim build so it wasn't an issue.) On the plus side, the bathroom was very clean. 3) Towels were very scratchy, which is something we didn't expect this being a Hilton property. 4) There was a lot of sargassum grass on the beach, which unfortunately is out of the resort's control. We live in NW Florida on the Gulf coast, which have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. So...we didn't plan to spend time on the beach. All in all, we had a great week's stay at Casa Marina and we would go there, again. The only reason we didn't give it a 5-Star review was because of the very high food and drink prices and bathroom amenities as noted above. Read less
