“Not the Curio Experience You’d Expect – Details Matter””

Let me start by saying I’m a long-time Hilton Diamond member who has stayed at many Hilton properties around the world. After reading several reviews mentioning that this hotel was missing the mark in a few areas, I decided to give it a try anyway to stay true to my Hilton loyalty. The location is good, but overall, the property lacks that “shiny penny” look and feel you expect from a high-end Curio Collection hotel. It’s the little details that add up—and here, those details are where things fall short. Even though the hotel recently went through a remodel, it’s already showing major wear and tear: smudged walls that stretch the length of hallways, paint worn off door frames, overpainted windows, mismatched tile repairs, and even duct tape on a handicap ramp. We stayed in the newer section of the hotel with outdoor access rather than in the main building. Unfortunately, the main elevator was out of service, so guests were directed to use a service elevator that was both dirty and constantly occupied by staff moving carts and supplies. Each time we used it, it felt less like a resort and more like a back hallway. The surrounding area was cluttered with stacked chairs, extra patio furniture, and discarded pool towels—definitely not the polished Curio vibe we were hoping for. For a property charging luxury prices, the details continue to disappoint. Expect to pay $8 for an Americano in the café and $24 for a poolside cocktail. With a $50-per-day resort fee, I would have at least expected quality towels, but both the room and pool towels were thin, rough, and even had holes. In hindsight, I should have trusted my instincts and gone with the DoubleTree. If you’re looking for a true luxury Hilton experience, I’d recommend looking elsewhere. It’s the small things that make a stay feel special—and this property, unfortunately, just doesn’t deliver.

“Spectacular stay”

From the moment we arrived, we were Wowed at the attention of the valet attention. Then the young man who helped us with our luggage to our room was just so kind and friendly. This just gave us such a relaxed feel after driving for four hours, and reassured us that we made the right decision of choosing the Casa Marina. We stayed in one of the King walk out suite in the suites wing...room 1024, to be exact, and it didn't disappoint. It was beautifully appointed with modern and artistic furnishings. The reason why it's called a walk out, is because you can walk out of the living room to a beautiful private sundeck/ patio and down the stairs to the(I counted 24 steps) ocean. This resort is just spectacular with two beautiful pools, a grand pathway to the ocean from the lobby door, and of course, it's on a beautiful beach. After dinner one night as we were taking a stroll, one the wait staff was so kind, she actually offered to do a mini photo shoot that turned out so gorgeous. We were Wowed. My husband and I did this trip for my birthday, and the staff didn't disappoint. On the day of my birthday, as we returned from a day at the beach to change for dinner, we were surprised by a beautiful birthday setup of flowers 💐, and birthday sign and a cake artfully designed with towels... oh my gosh, it was another Wowed moment. Not to mention, this was set up in the breakfast nook area our suite. For my birthday dinner, we had reservations for the "Toes in the Sand" dinner experience, and again, we were in Orr with the service and the food. This was a seven course dinner, and with each serving, the presentation and taste were more impressive. Our server topped off the evening with a sparkling candle and a lovely serving of Key Lime pie and a video, of course. Thank you, Penelope, for making us feel so special with our Toes in the Sand. I also have to mention the service on the beach. We had a day bed each day of our six nights stay, and the service was amazing. The beach supervisor made sure we were in need of nothing. The day bed includes bottled water and an exotic tray of fruits, in which the attentive staff will only bring out when you're ready... how genius. I have to mention one of the many beach servers Laurrain, she was attentive and very pleasant as she attended to the many guests on the beach. Although our stay was at the Casa Marina, we also spent some beach time at the property next door... The Reach. We found the beach area a better fit for us, and the beach staff were also very attentive and pleasant. We also had a day bed, and like the Casa Marina, it includes bottled water and a fruit platter. I also have to mention the turndown service of our suite and the numerous text messages to check on our needs and make sure our stay was going well. This was extremely impressive for us. I'm not sure if this was a general manager or housekeeping, but if I needed tea bags and creamer, I got it. If I needed an extra blanket, I got it. The service was just unbelievable and extremely impressive 👏🏼. We are already planning our return to the Casa Marina in Key West. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so special, and this birthday girl feel like a VIP.

“HIGH PRICED RESORT FEES!! AVOID”

FULL DISCLOSURE REGARDING "RESORT FEES". THIS HOTEL IS NICE, BUT NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY FOR WHAT YOU EXPECT FOR THE RATES BEGIN CHARGED. WHAT IS SHOCKING WAS THE 70 DOLLARS PER NIGHT "RESORT FEES." THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS AS THIS RESORT HAS THE HOTEL AND A POOL, NOTHING FANCY OR EXTRAORDINARY TO JUSTIFY THIS RIDICULOUS CHARGES! THIS IS JUST ANOTHER WAY THAT HILTON FINDS A WAY TO CREATE REVENUE DISGUISED AS A SERVICE. THE POOLS WERE SMALL. BEACH WAS NICE. THERE WAS NOTHING TO JUSTIFY THESE RESORT FEES ABOVE A USUAL HOTEL STAY. THEY DON'T TELL YOU ABOUT THESE HIGH RESORT FEES UNTIL YOU CHECK IN. WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO SAY???? No?? TRY TO FIND A NEW HOTEL LAST MINUTE?? BEWARE WHEN BOOKING YOUR STAY AT THIS RESORT AS THIS WILL ADD ON ANOTHER 500-600 DOLLARS TO YOUR WEEK STAY FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
