Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock

The hotel

The wow-inducing setting’s the first thing you’ll notice when you rock up at this hotel – and you’ll soon see why its home has been dubbed ‘the most beautiful place in America’. But this is a hotel of contrasts, and the iconic fiery red rocks of Sedona are the backdrop for the impossibly lush fairways of its championship 18-hole golf course, the shimmering waters of its outdoor pools, and the cool serenity of its spa. Standing like scarlet-clad sentinels, the famous red rocks can be seen as you dine on the poolside terrace at Blue Water Café, just one of Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock’s three eateries – and, although it’s mere minutes from the outdoor adventures the scenery promises (and from shops, restaurants, and galleries) the hotel’s loaded with so many attractions you’ll never need to leave its grounds.

Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, but I am a runner. I always try to find out what safe running routes are around. I like to run on the roads; Sedona is hilly and not everywhere on the way into town has a sidewalk (there are bike lanes, though). The people at the Hilton Honors desk didn't seem to know much about running routes, so I just mapped out a run myself on the local highway. No one mentioned the coyotes. On my first run, I ran into four coyotes (a solo observer, and then a group of three). This is not something I am used to, and it freaked me out, so I kept running. Not much else to do. When I returned to the hotel, I decided to ask the staff if it was normal to be so close to the coyotes and if there was anything I should do or any tips I should know. (Things like, "wave your arms," or "shout" or "they preferred to be ignored," or whatever.) Instead, when I asked what I should do if I saw the coyotes again (which I did, on four separate days) the man at the Honors desk shrugged and said, "Around here, we just carry." Uhhhhh. Okay. Not helpful. Weirdly, I also learned that this isn't even true. People don't go around just shooting coyotes in Sedona. So, I don't know what that whole thing was about. My Pink Jeep tour guide was pretty irritated when I told her the story of what the man said, and the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I became, too. It was really a totally inappropriate response to a hotel guest. That was the only issue I had with a person at the Hilton. I never saw that guy again. The other issues were cost-related in a felt like was a hefty pricetag for a hotel that is really only okay. The pool is run-down, the bathrooms by the pool are sad, the "games" they say they have for families are missing parts or incomplete sets. The drinks and food are really overpriced (and I am not cheap, but we had a really mediocre lunch at the pool on the Monday we arrived and it cost $180). We never ate there again because Sedona has much better food for the same pricetag or less. And then, the surprise to me was the parking, which felt a bit like a "gotcha." I paid $100 ($20/night) to park at a hotel that is literally situated in a giant parking lot off a main highway, not even remotely walkable to the town (shopping/eating) areas in Sedona. That annoyed me. Why charge for parking when there is truly so much parking available that every room has a view of the parking lots? If the hotel were in a town where parking is at a premium, I'd get it. I assure you, this is not the case. The Hilton Sedona is actually a parking lot in and of itself. Read less

We visited from Chicago for a 2-night stay with our two small kids, and we absolutely loved our time at the Hilton Sedona Resort. From the moment we arrived, Maddy went above and beyond—she was incredibly helpful, answering all our questions about the area and giving great tips on what to do (especially since it was raining when we checked in). When we had a small issue with our room, she quickly resolved it and moved us without hesitation. Michelle and Michael were also kind and helpful throughout our stay. A special shoutout to Siren at the bar—she was so patient and welcoming, even with little ones in tow! The property itself is adorable and feels freshly renovated. The location is ideal, and we loved the bonus of being able to take a golf cart to nearby restaurants. There are plenty of cozy fire pits for chilly desert evenings, and you can even grab s’mores kits to enjoy. The pool setup is perfect for families, with a kid-friendly pool and a separate adult pool. The entire property was clean, well-maintained, and every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and helpful. We’ll definitely be staying here again next time we’re in Sedona! Read less

Beautiful scenery. Plenty of activities offered on location such as night sky viewing and live entertainment. Very quiet grounds away from the crowds. On site dining was excellent. Staff were highly helpful and attentive to guests. All around positive experience.

EXTREMELY poor value for the money. Dated and worn furniture in hotel room seemed like pieces you would donate to Goodwill. Dined in the hotel restaurant twice. (dinner and breakfast). EXTREMELY poor value for the money. Dated and worn furniture in hotel room seemed like pieces you would donate to Goodwill. Dined in the hotel restaurant twice. (dinner and breakfast). Waited at least 10 minutes just to get seated because no hostess was there to seat you. Waited another 10-15 minutes to be given a glass of water and acknowledged by wait staff. Another 10 minutes to have order taken. Once served, hardly had anyone check on us except to bring check. Seems the Hilton brands are truly going downhill. There was NOTHING special about this hotel except location. Definitely not worth the price. Read less
