Was a little worried about staying at this hotel after reading a few reviews but it was nowhere near as bad as some people were saying. My wife and I stay here in the last week of July 2025. We stayed the previous year at Margaritaville which was a short walk from here and I have to say if I ever return to NYC I would stay at the Doubletree rather than Margaritaville. The hotel is perfectly located near Times Square but far enough away that you don't get all the noise. Rooms are small but this is NYC so rooms are small and you don't go to NYC to stay in your room. They are perfectly fine for the price you pay. The only thing wrong with the hotel is the lifts / elevators. They are slow and always full. I was lucky as we were on the 5th floor so could use the stairs but if you are higher up then you end up waiting for ages. For those that said there were undesirables outside the hotel. We never saw this throughout the whole stay. I would recommend this hotel and with the exception of the slow lifts it would be a 5 review. Read less

Great central location, 8 mins to Bryant Park and Times Square and very handy for the subway and bus station. Very near Hudson Yards and USS Intrepid. 30 min walk to Central Park or 2 subway stops We were lucky enough to have a great view from our room on the 24th floor and a stunning view at night from the rooftop bar. Room is fine, good shower and clean. Only big grumble was the bathroom door which had been taken off and a sliding door put in place which did not close at all. Not much privacy. The lifts took a while and the bedroom furniture could do with being upgraded as pretty worn and chipped in places. Due to the location, cleanliness and warmth of the staff, we would stay here again. In a room with a proper bathroom door however. Read less

Concierge Carlos made a big difference in our recent stay. He assisted us with our luggage; pets and arrival/departure with our vehicle, as well as recommendations with dining and experiences around the city. We look forward to our return trip and seeing Carlos again

We originally booked a room with two beds through Booking.com for our trip to NYC, as our children were supposed to join us. However, they were no longer able to come, so we needed to change the reservation to a room with one bed. Since Booking.com didn’t allow modifications after payment, my husband contacted Hilton directly—since the hotel is part of DoubleTree by Hilton—and was able to make the change with them. Despite this confirmed modification through Hilton, when we arrived to check in, the hotel staff refused to honor the updated reservation. This led to a frustrating back-and-forth between Hilton and Booking.com, and we had to go through Hilton again to get the change recognized. The manager, Sata Afom, was not accommodating, even though she had previously said she would honor the email confirmation. I was able to show her the email, but it still took extra effort to have the modification respected. Additionally, Dominique at the front desk was rude and unpleasant, especially when I asked about a breakfast voucher that she was giving to other guests. Her attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. Another manager, Joot, was not helpful at first either. He only became involved after we escalated the issue through Hilton and insisted the email confirmation be honored. This experience was extremely disappointing—especially since we’ve stayed at this establishment before without any issues. I’ve never dealt with so many unprofessional staff members at a Hilton property, and I sincerely hope this situation will be addressed and resolved properly. Read less

However, we were surprised that our rooms (which we preselected in the Hilton App) were not on the same floor as selected. They didn’t even attempt to get us close and said sometimes it’s just not possible to get the room you selected through the digital checkin. Important to know in case you are traveling with family. The location is close to the theatre district, so walking to shows was a breeze. However, it’s really a gamble on booking in Hell’s Kitchen. This property is basically the first hotel you get to after exiting the Lincoln Tunnel. It faces the Port Authority Bus Terminal, so there is massive noise and traffic, and sadly, far more homeless people sleeping near the hotel than in any previous stay we’ve had in NYC. Lastly, the elevators take a significant amount of time to get into at certain times of day, so plan accordingly. They also lock the stairwell at night, so our party who were on a low floor were unable to take the stairs after 11:00pm and had to wait the 15 minutes for an elevator instead. Read less
