BEST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER!! I've never written a review before, but felt compelled to after staying in this hotel. After booking 2 rooms for our 4-night stay, I read some more reviews that made me reconsider my decision. I searched for another hotel, but did not find any options that did not have other cons, so I kept my reservation...and I'm so grateful that I did! When I arrived, I was greeted by Melanie. I asked her if the 2 rooms I had reserved were adjacent or on the same floor and told her that I had called a couple of times to make that request. They were not, but she worked her magic while my family and I relaxed with free drinks, courtesy of Melanie. I went back to the desk after a bit and she said she was able to get us 2 rooms on the same floor. What a relief! My original reservation had a "city view" room on a higher floor, which may be why she acted concerned that I might not be happy with the new rooms, as they were on the 6th floor. Well, I can say that I'd choose a lower floor again in a heartbeat because we didn't have to wait for elevators, which were at times very busy. Thank you again Melanie! We were within walking distance of almost everything we went to New York to see and surprisingly, the rooms were very quiet, so it was easy to get a good nights' rest. Perhaps the biggest surprise to me was that the hotel has a rooftop bar (with an open-air rooftop) and I was elated because there is a perfect view of the Empire State Building! Did I mention that I originally wanted a "city view" room? It was a fantastic view of the city and almost a full 360 degree experience, since you can view it from 3 sides of the building! The trip was absolutely perfect, but my family might say that they wish we hadn't walked so much. However, one day after walking around Central Park and walking back to the hotel, we were absolutely AMAZED that my son's hotel room had been decorated for his birthday...again, courtesy of Melanie! How awesome is that!?!? She had put a sign and balloons on the bed, chocolate bars, breakfast vouchers, Doubletree cookies (yummy!), stuffed animals (keychain sized) and a handwritten note in the room for him. What an amazing person Melanie is! At the end of our stay I spoke with Melanie's manager to let her know that this was by far the best hotel experience I had ever had and it was because of the way Melanie had cared about us as guests. Thanks Melanie!! I hope the hotel higher-ups read this review and take note of what a huge difference their employees can make, not only on the guests' experience, but in the way their properties are viewed by potential guests...as places they want to avoid, or as places they are excited to stay at. If I make it back to Manhattan any time soon, I'll definitely stay at the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel New York Times Square West. THANK YOU SO MUCH MELANIE, MY FAMILY REALLY APPRECIATES YOUR EFFORTS TO MAKE OUR STAY PERFECTLY ENJOYABLE!!! YOU ARE THE BEST!!! Read less

If I could give this hotel a 0 I would. We arrived with our small children really early (no problem), however, when it was time to check in, there were no rooms available after we already had reserved a room with a city view and double queen beds. Instead of the city view (that we paid for) and queen beds we were put up in a double full bed room with no city view. (Massive price difference). On top of that, when it was time to leave, our vehicle was too tall to be in the parking garage. The valet staff destroyed the top of our truck and ripped the paint off in several areas on the top of the truck. We ordered room service, that was expensive, and it was never delivered to our room. It was sitting in the lobby all night. We were lucky to be greeted by kind bell hops and staff at the desk, however it was the absolute WORST experience I’ve ever had at a Hilton Hotel. I don’t recommend this place at all. The rooms were very small, the food was mediocre, and the disregard for our vehicle being taken by valet and destroyed, I’d give this nothing. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever encountered. Read less

Dominique on reception was very helpful. King bed room on 24th floor was small. Quite noisy comings and goings late at night and early on though. Breakfast buffet was OK but scrambled eggs and French toast were poor. Bathroom needed a refurb ; door and shower tray damaged

Just wanted to give a shoutout to Dominique for going above and beyond. She answered all of our questions and provided exceptional hospitality and customer service to both myself and my husband. We greatly appreciated her politeness and professionalism and she made us feel right at home and welcomed. We hope to see her again when we visit!
