This is a name brand (Sheraton) now owned and operated by another name brand (Mattiot) hotel in one of NYC Manhattan's prime location. It bears 4 stars. The experience is unbecoming of 4 stars. And while it may rightfully seem that the quality of the stay is negatively affected by some work being done on the hotel's genereal areas, the hotels suffers from what would seem many years of lack of up-keeping, bearing the look, feel and smell of a run down property. There is a total lack of service and service supervision. 2 out of 5 days, our rooms did not get any service until the afternoon. We had to call for it, another day, we found the room only half "done" (one bed done, the other left unattended). The bathroom has mold around the bath tub seal and most of the the faucets are loose or poorly "fixed up" with cheap part (white plastic shower hose like those used on trailer homes and cheap weekly rate efficiencies-motels, loose chrome parts, faucets installed the wrong way around. A toilet of the smallest version, wall paper coming off, the bath door bearing oxidation thru over-paint at it's bottom). I had to you-tube research how to reset the room safe, because upon calling in about the problem, I still did not have service within 30 min. So, I reset the safe myself. We have observed check-in lines going twice the width of the lobby... people waiting over 2 hours to check in, only 3 people attending to them. We got lucky arriving the day before. Internet (WiFi) did not work for almost 24 hours. Service desk (call) is aware of most the issues... mostly your get an automated "all representatives are currently assisting other customers", for as many calls or few personnel they have. We have called and emailed the hotel 5 times during our stay. I must say that the "Destination Fee" they bill you directly at the hotel got cancelled. But until this hotel is rebuilt and management regains control over the service flow, I CANNOT recommend this hotel, and only warn against it. Read less

Everything is run down Rooms In bad need of face lift, though large by NYC standards. However, cleaning is now just an afterthought. Not done well. Workout facility Once one of the best in NYC (sole reason to stop there) is now completely abandoned. No water bottles, equipment is broken. Finally they got towels in. The peloton studio is completely wrecked. What a shame. Restaurants and property staff Bad and worse. It appears that current ownership is trying to bleed the property dry or perhaps the have liquidity issues, either way they don’t spend on staff and it shows. Nor do they spend on property. Marriott - what are you thinking? Read less

Room was fine, but didn't have a mini fridge because it was a disabled room (not something we requested). Water pressure in the shower was horrible, the water temperature also fluctuated significantly. Some of the staff was nice, one representative gave me a good Pizza restaurant recommendation, but the guy who checked us in should be working at a morgue with how cold he was. The staff wouldn't help us find the stairs when the elevator lines were too long. The location is great, and that is why they probably don't bother with making the stay very nice at all. Read less

Every time I walked past the reception area it was a mix of obstacle course and pity for those poor souls endlessly waiting in line to check-in. This was the case well into the night. Then, there are the elevators, which are the main character in the saga of this Sheraton. We formed long-term relationships with our fellow travelers as we grew older together waiting interminably for a ride, regaling our journeys and failed attempts at locating the stairs. (FYI, follow arrows to the Starbucks and keep winding around for the escape route to the hidden staircase) Here's a tip for the manager of this hotel. Take a 10 minute walk over to the Chick-fil-A over on 6th Ave during the height of the lunch hour. Watch and learn. Read less

Elevators were delayed and sometimes inoperable- taking as long as 20 minutes to arrive. The water pressure in the showers was non existent. The toilets were broken. The rooms were not clean. The staff was not friendly or helpful but we were issued 2 free bottles of water with our stay, so there’s that. The location is good for first time visitors who want to see the staples. That’s about it. I travel to New York often and this is by-far the worst place I’ve stayed in NYC. Read less
