Under construction (not notified at the time of booking) and overbooked. The line to check in was over an hour long. Elevators were delayed and sometimes inoperable- taking as long as 20 minutes to arrive. The water pressure in the showers was non existent. The toilets were broken. The rooms were not clean. The staff was not friendly or helpful but we were issued 2 free bottles of water with our stay, so there’s that. The location is good for first time visitors who want to see the staples. That’s about it. I travel to New York often and this is by-far the worst place I’ve stayed in NYC. Read less

DO Not Stay Here. The NY Sheraton on 7th between 53 and 52 is a sad, rundown, and dirty remnant of a once great hotel. The lobby, restaurant and public walkways are largely closed and under construction. The elevators are out of date and poorly maintained leaving enormous lines of guests unable to get to the floors and rooms above. Due to the construction there is only one public exit out or in to a 1,000 room hotel making that an obvious and unforgivable fire hazard. The only amenity in this entire hotel is the former library turned into make shift bar/restaurant with no public street exit, no emergency exit, and one internal exit/entrance making this public space a clear and obvious danger and a fire code violation known and tolerated by thus Marriott Sheraton hotel management. It lis shocking tat the Marriott Corporation would willingly allow a hotel under the Sheraton brand know for quality to operate in such a low substandard state, having inadequate and at times defective elevator service, obstructed walkways, a single small hotel exit/entrance, and the only public space with no street access, no emergency exit, and one internal access point. This hotel operated in this careless manner by Marriott is a danger to its guests, the public and a failure of management by the Marriott Corporation. Read less

The only good thing is the Location. The staff don’t seem to care. The tap was leaking, furniture and wardrobes are in disrepair and no one from hospitality responded to the issues we raised. Towels were not clean when we arrived. We got stuck in the lift on the Lobby floor for 20minutes and not even an apology from the staff or management. Then… Read more

Towels were not clean when we arrived. We got stuck in the lift on the Lobby floor for 20minutes and not even an apology from the staff or management. Then the doors of another lift would not fully close, so walked three floors (36th to 39th). House keeping was no better, had to remind them to replace towels and toilet rolls. They need to learn that the Customer Service. Will Never Stay at this hotel again. Read less

Michael at the front desk was a great manager. He and his concierge helped us out and although the hotel is under construction and the room is nothing exciting (does the job), the service level in a hotel absolutely changes EVERYTHING. This hotel is a great location, good for a short stay, small room, little fridge and coffee maker and no frills but for NYC it works. The level of service by Michael at the front desk and his team as well as Eddie in the Starbucks made our trip so much more enjoyable. The night time staff when we arrived was not as accomodating but it didn'tt matter as they made up for it in the day. Read less
