We stayed as a family group in 2 premium queen rooms. These rooms were refurbished, and quite modern. We stayed as a family group in 2 premium queen rooms. These rooms were refurbished, and quite modern. (Other guests we spoke with were scathing in their comments regarding the non furbished rooms - so beware of which room you book). However, it is obvious that, even in our refurbished room, they have been modernized to a price point. For example, peeling paint, very small shower, taps loose on the wall. Toilet not particularly modern. There is no fridge in the room! But you can request one, for a fee of course! The hotel is very close to Times Square and Central Park, both only a couple of blocks away. As you would expect, the location is very noisy, so take good ear plugs with you. As an aside, during our stay many of the hotel guests were also noisy - at all hours of the day and night. But hey, we are in NYC, right? The hotel offers a 'Grab & Go' breakfast – a piece of fruit, a croissant or muffin, plus coffee or tea and water. Basic, but welcome all the same, especially if you are in a hurry! Our room cleaning was ‘hit and miss’, e.g., the cleaners may take three towels but only eave two. They would take the paper cups and not replace them, etc. Not major issues, but annoying all the same. The hotel is in the middle of a major refurbishment - both the rooms and the lobby area - the latter was a nightmare trying to check in or out, or collect your breakfast grab & go cards. There also seemed to be a lack of front desk staff during our stay - you could have maybe 20 or more people trying to check in and only 2 front desk staff. Given the renovations and the lack of space, the mornings were just a terrible logjam of people. (Seems to me the hotel could alleviate a lot of the queuing issues by simply issuing grab & go breakfast cards during check in, for the entire duration of your stay). Would I stay again - maybe not. I don't think the hotel had a major drawcard or attraction aside from the location - but there are plenty of other choices all around that area that I would try in the future. Read less

Terrible hotel, the corridors are dirty , carpets destroyed . The rooms were dirty and noisy . Unfortunately this is an old hotel and it desperately needs updating. I am shocked that IHG lend their name to this hotel . I would avoid at all costs .

I received excellent service when I had questions or requests. Racquel Navil made my stay a joy! She adviced me on local attractions and eating establishments. The room was clean and the crew were very accommodating. I will be returning and recommending The Manhattan to friends and family.
