Very friendly and helpful service. Comfortable beds. Quiet rooms with good ventilation. Good selection of restaurants nearby and within the hotel. The only downside was that the showers were lukewarm - I had the water turned up as hot as it goes and was still shivering.
Nothing that can't be fixed!

I was wrestling about whether to give the hotel three or four stars, but I picked four because what they got right, they got very right. Wish I could do bullet points, but I'll just list them:

I was wrestling about whether to give the hotel three or four stars, but I picked four because what they got right, they got very right. Wish I could do bullet points, but I'll just list them:
Clean room. I need clean. One review said that housekeeping didn't come, but they did here, daily, without my having to tell them to come. One glitch--the shower caps are flimsy and they need to add a new one daily.
Quiet. I need quiet, too. I sleep with ear plugs.
Room upgrade: with points and a little extra cash, I got a big room and a lovely view of the mountains and the city.
Location: restaurants were close and stuff to see wasn't far.
Staff: I give a huge shout-out to the attitude and work ethic. They fell all over themselves helping me, especially Julie, who immediately sought out a bottle of distilled water for the CPAP.
OK, now the needs, which can be fixed:
My first morning at the conference I attended, I was in a hurry and wanted room service. They had none. C'mon--a convention hotel and no room service for breakfast?
The former may have changed, because I wound up in the hotel coffee shop for breakfast and I was obliged to go to the $30 buffet because they had no a la carte menu options. I decided to peep in the final morning, and they had a la carte, and they put considerable goat cheese into the omelette. So, they might have been shorthanded the first morning.
There were no USB ports that I could find, and that's a need for most travelers nowadays!
But all those are fixable. So, four stars!

I stayed 4 nights on business and loved this hotel. One, it is conveniently located close to all the restaurants / activities in Salt Lake and it's also very close to the convention center. Check-in was extremely smooth (already done online) however, I needed an extra night and it was no problem to get it added at the reception. The lobby is large and it's very convenient to take a shared ride / taxi outside. Loved the fact that it was connected to a very nice restaurant (Spencer's) and a separate place for breakfast (well priced and extensive selection). My room on the 8th floor facing the mountains was super quiet, very clean and comfortable (especially the bed). The elevators were plentiful which helped experience very minimal waiting. The gym / pool area is amazing: separate rooms for weights and cardio equipment + very nice indoor pool. More importantly the staff everywhere was very pleasant, polite and professional. I appreciated the follow-ups by text to ensure that my stay was going well.
Overall it's a great place. I did not experience any issue and would recommend it to all.

I had made reservations at the Hilton Salt Lake City Center, in advance, but my travel plans changed. My reservation was considered flexible, and I could cancel or change it. My original three-night stay had to be changed to a two-night stay, but after several attempts to change it on-line, and two lengthy phone calls, they were willing to shorten up my three-night stay to two-night but tried to charge me an additional $130 per night. This would make my two-night stay more expensive than the three-night stay. They didn't seem to care, and I ended up canceling my reservations.
There are way too many options in and around the SLC area. I was able to get another property at less than half the Hilton Salt Lake City Center offered. I travel to the SLC area frequently, and I will not stay at this Hilton in the future. I find their business practices deceiving, the customer service (yes, I did speak to someone at the hotel front desk) lacking and the hotel overpriced. I believe they didn't think I would cancel my reservation and would just pay the difference; they were mistaken.
I see the ratings of this hotel are slowly dropping. If you are considering a stay at this property, I suggest you look around, there are better options.

A trip ruined by incompetence and dishonesty

There is a bit of a story here. I had initially booked a single room for a convention I was attending, but my sister ended up wanting to come. I went to the reservation online and added another room for her. However, when I did so I received a new confirmation number via email and I was worried. I figured there would just be a single reservation/confirmation number. I called Hilton to ask them about it and made it clear I just wanted a single reservation with two rooms. No problem. The person on the phone changed the reservation, and assured me it was the only reservation and I was all set. This was in March of 2024, for a reservation in December of 2024.
Since I'd called and confirmed exactly what I wanted and was assured that I had what I wanted I felt pretty confident I was good to go. Fast forward nine months later and I'm checking into the hotel and the person checking me in says that I have THREE rooms. That's obviously wrong, and the Hotel even thought as much. The said that they had called me earlier in the week to let me know they thought this was an error and let me cancel the room. However, I never received this call. I was told that because I had not canceled the room in the 72 hour time frame I would lose the deposit if I canceled the third room. I was pretty unhappy and the person went and got the manager. Essentially the manager reiterated that they had called me and left a message because they thought it was in error. After showing them my phone where I had neither a call or a voicemail - the manager could not care less. They just kept saying it was my fault and I would be charged. Since there was nothing I could do, I just canceled the room and took the loss.
Later as I was trying to figure this out I remembered what had happened and opened a case with Hilton with the additional information that I HAD called before their 72 hour time limit - you know 9 months earlier. Unfortunately this ultimately ended up in the same manager's hands, and they responded to the email saying that I should have caught this mistake by comparing the confirmation numbers in the emails they sent.
So, basically they screwed up, KNEW they screwed up, lied about trying to contact me, and left me with the bill. But because I didn't catch THEIR mistake, I have to pay. I'm not sure if the manager is extremely dishonest, or if they are just really incompetent, but either way I'll never stay at a Hilton again. Unfortunately, we've normalized theft by large corporations as just the 'cost of doing business'; if I had stolen several hundred dollars from them I'd be in jail. Let this be a warning if you are staying here and they screw up your reservation - you will be the one who pays.
