I’ve had an almost perfect experience. The hotel was lovely, clean, the beds were super comfy and the best part was the staff, Rafika is the shining star of the place, can’t express what an outstanding, professional she is. Soufiane was beyond exceptional, great fun conversationalist. Everyone else has been amazing with the exception of this one lady at the reception. The lady wanted me to pay a 100$ deposit per night, yes per night, and after we had our little back and forth, she said she could lower to 50$, she said it was hotel policy to do 100$ but she somehow has the power to lower it to 50$. When I refused, she said I might face problems despite paying for my stay already. Fast forward to the same afternoon, she wanted to give me a different card to my room saying that mine doesn’t work anymore for whatever reason, but I declined and said I’ll get back to her if I face any trouble with mine, which I didn’t, another lie. I’ve honestly had the best time, a near perfect stay, but a hotel of this kind should not hire someone who lies and tries to trick people for their own personal gain, in order to secure a few extra bucks, the lady who says she’s British, tried every possible trick in the book and it didn’t reflect well on a hotel that has the most wonderful staff I’ve yet to come across and I’ve travelled globally numerous times. I’d recommend the place to everyone I know, but I’d advise them not to deal with that one lady and I’d hope for Melrose to look into the matter and hire more people like Soufiane and the rest of the staff who are all incredible. This hotel is in a good location - it is between the Mall and historic Georgetown. There’s a metro station about five mins walk - which allows easy access to all parts of the city. Georgetown is walking distance and worth exploring. There’s plenty of restaurants etc. nearby if you head Georgetown direction - not so much if you head Mall direction. The room was a very good size and more than did the job. I would say the bathroom is a little dated. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The decor is modern and stylish. Would I stay here again? Probably. Would I recommend it? Yes. Read less
