The hotel

Not just a hotel, Zilwa Attitude is more of an experience, embracing the life of the islanders. With a relaxed village feel, it is packed with authentic Mauritian experiences so you’ll truly feel like one of the natives after a week or two here. In a beautiful location, overlooking endless stretches of sandy beach and with stunning views of no less than five islands, it is a slice of heaven. Just a few minutes away by boat, or a short paddle, is Grand Zil where you can while away a few hours on a lounger and perhaps tuck in to a barbecue lunch — or enjoy a rejuvenating massage on the smaller Ti Zil. Rooms are inspired from traditional seaside bungalows and are contemporary in design but rustic too with rough white-washed walls and brushed cement floors. Embracing bright colours, there's a choice of room types, as well as family rooms, apartments and suites by the sea. Book a treatment at the world-class spa and take some time to chill on a day bed in the relaxation garden whilst listening to the twitter of birdsong. As you kick back, the little ones will be kept happy at the kids' club, with a fun garden, a games room and a large boat to explore and escape the sun ! There are seven restaurants at Zilwa, offering cuisines from European to Creole, Indian and Asian, and the All Inclusive dine-around experience means you can discover wonderful varied meals each day of your stay.

We have just returned from nearly 3 weeks at the Zilwa Attitude. We stayed in a beach front room with fabulous views out across the island and the ocean. Everything was fantastic. Spotlessly clean, quietly efficient, nothing was too much trouble. What stood out for us more than all of this however were the staff. We have never stayed anywhere with such friendly and welcoming staff. By the end of our stay they felt like family and we were as sad to leave them as we were this beautiful hotel and island. Worth special mention are Veronique in the restaurant, Satyam, Nuraj and Rajiv in the bars, Pratima, Sharmila and Neena in the Spa and Miguel on the entertainment team. However, without exception, all the staff were amazing. Read less

The whole ‘vibe’ of the hotel is chilled and every member of staff is excellent. The bar staff are fantastic, never had to wait very long for drinks. The food in the Speciality Restaurants was absolutely superb. The quality and presentation was first class. The rooms are a little ‘rustic’ but this all adds to the charm of your stay. Plenty of sun beds around the pools and beach. Be aware this is a family hotel, so there are lots of children. Not a criticism of the hotel, but the only downside was that you can’t go for walks from the hotel. You can’t walk along the beach and can’t really walk outside the hotel as it is a busy road with no pavement. Loved Mauritius, loved the hotel. We will be back. Read less

We recently stayed at Zilwa Attitude in Mauritius for my best friend’s 40th birthday week, and overall it was a really memorable trip. The resort is absolutely beautiful — really picturesque and thoughtfully designed, with incredible views everywhere you look. The staff were consistently friendly and welcoming. A special mention to our waiter, Shubham, who genuinely went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of throughout our stay. We also spent time at the spa, which was one of the highlights of the trip. It was such a relaxing experience and we left feeling completely pampered and refreshed. A special thank you to my masseuse, Pratma, who was excellent. Being gluten intolerant, I really appreciated that many dishes were labelled with dietary information. That said, I would strongly recommend speaking directly to the head chef on duty early in your stay if you have any allergies or dietary requirements. Once we did this, things improved significantly and I was offered a great range of gluten-free options. A special thank you to Sous Chef Canniah for being so helpful and accommodating. We did have a few hiccups during our stay, but these were handled quickly and professionally by Sivadev, which we really appreciated. One particularly concerning moment was witnessing a medical emergency during dinner on our final evening. While we understand that these situations can be unpredictable, from a guest’s perspective the staff response appeared somewhat uncertain, and being told that medical assistance could take up to 25 minutes to arrive was unsettling. We sincerely hope the guest is okay, but the incident did raise concerns regarding emergency readiness and protocol, despite being assured that many staff members are first-aid trained. Overall, Zilwa Attitude is a truly beautiful resort with lovely staff and incredible surroundings. With a bit more clarity around dietary processes and stronger visible emergency procedures, the experience could easily be exceptional. Read less

We had a fantastic week-long all-inclusive stay at Zilwa Attitude. Set in beautifully fragrant, well-kept grounds, it offers an all-round exceptional holiday experience. Our room was spacious, cool and well-equipped, with reliable WiFi, TV and a wonderfully hot shower. The bar fridge can be restocked daily from the tuck shop near reception with water, soft drinks and snacks – a really convenient touch. Dining was a highlight throughout. Karay delivers a varied and delicious buffet for all meals, while the à la carte options add real depth. Standouts for us were Lor Disab for its relaxed beach BBQs, Tadka for outstanding Indian flavours (and the best poppadums we’ve had), and Kot Nou for authentic local cuisine. The bars are excellent, serving quality South African wines, local beers and well-made rum cocktails. Unlike some all-inclusives, the drinks here are genuinely top-notch – generously poured, expertly mixed, and somehow headache-free the next day. The bar team are friendly, engaging, and always happy to surprise you. The gym is compact but well thought out, with solid cardio options and free weights. The pools are clean and refreshing, and the beaches and lagoon are stunning. A real highlight was the Gran Zil island BBQ experience – complete with water hammocks – not to be missed. What truly sets Zilwa apart is the staff, referred to as “family members.” Their warmth, friendliness and genuine enthusiasm create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere throughout the resort. Evenings at the Siro Kann bar add to the charm, with a great mix of live music and traditional Sega performances. We had an amazing stay and wouldn’t hesitate to return – Zilwa Attitude is a truly special place. Read less
