Great family holiday

We have recently returned from a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The staff couldn’t do enough for you, special shout out to Muizz, Niroshan, Kusubu, Rathnayake, Ahuzam… who were brilliant at the bar. The evening entertainment was always good fun, the JJ twins were a highlight! The beach was beautiful, and the food was some of the best we’ve ever had on holiday. The Banyan was so varied and of very high quality, and the Indian food was excellent! The staff in both restaurants were fantastic. Would also highly recommend the snorkelling experience which was included with premium all-inclusive…. loved it! Thank you for a great holiday. Read less

Bliss!

After a very busy and full on wonderful tour of Srilanka we were fortunate enough to go to the Maldives and stay at the Hudhuran Fushi ! It was bliss ! The snorkelling and sunsets were fantastic. Our stay was made extra special by Thush who took care of us and our villa over the water. We were treated to lovely celebratory decorations on our bed, sparkling wine in the room and he arranged a special dinner on the beach for us. Thush went above and beyond and we thank him for this and his beautiful smile, care and kindness. All the staff at the Sunset restaurant and the food were fantastic. Thank you all that made our time there so special. We will definitely be back ! Read less

Terrible experience

I hate leaving a 1-star review, but for the price we paid and what we experienced, I honestly can’t justify anything higher. The biggest issue was communication and organisation. We arrived, were told we were on the surfer package, and were shown what our non-surfers could spend their credit on. I double-checked. Then triple-checked. We spent accordingly, only to be confronted with a $3,000+ NZD bill at the end and told, “I am not responsible for knowing what package you booked.” And I had to spend my last night at reception until 10:30pm crying being told the opposite to what I’ve been told all week. No respectfully was taken by the hotel for what we had been told by them, that prompted our spending because they confirmed it. Apparently, the credits didn’t exist for the package we had booked (2 surfers + 2 non-surfers). News to us, right. I’ve taken this up with Surf Safaris, but the hotel should have identified this on day one and clearly explained what was and wasn’t included. Instead, we spent money based on what we were told was covered and double confirmed by hotel staff. The surfing itself was also disappointing considering the additional cost. As an intermediate surfer, I was really looking forward to improving but received very little guidance from the guides about which spots would suit my ability and the conditions I’m unsure if they do anything other than just surf? The more advanced surfer had a blast because he wanted to be left alone to just surf out front and had no interest in the boat trips. More concerning was a surf lesson we booked for my husband. The guide was responsible for two people, and my husband ended up washed up on the beach and was left there for around an hour, while we were told he was on the boat. We got back to the boat and he simply wasn’t there. You pay for a lesson and expect safety to be the absolute priority. He is a strong swimmer and had surfed a few times, but this could have been extremely dangerous. We also put my parents in an overwater villa for their final night, expecting something special. Unfortunately, the room was incredibly dated, with water coming through cracks in the walls and floors. As we were checking out at 8am, we asked if they could have an early check-in so they could actually enjoy the room, but were told no. At the same time, we were receiving messages offering discounted room upgrades, which made that decision particularly frustrating. And honestly, seeing 40% off deals and last-minute upgrade offers when you paid full price more than 10 months in advance is a real slap in the face. On a positive note, the buffet was great and the staff were lovely. I’d skip the Sunset Restaurant though, which was extremely underwhelming. For a resort at this price point, the communication, organisation and safety oversight were simply not good enough. We came expecting a dream trip and unfortunately left feeling incredibly disappointed. :( Read less
