Our stay at Beaches Negril was truly memorable because of the amazing staff who made us feel welcomed and cared for throughout the entire trip. It is also an absolute beach destination with one of my favorite beaches of all time. The water is beautiful, the sand is soft, and the beach atmosphere is hard to beat. The food was excellent throughout the resort and easily one of the highlights of our stay. We have visited every Beaches resort and all but one Sandals resort, and even though we were traveling as a couple without children, Beaches Negril is now our #3 favorite overall resort. That says a lot because we have stayed at many incredible properties over the years. Sophia and Victoria at Soy provided outstanding customer service. They were very thoughtful about food allergies and paid close attention every time we visited. They made us feel comfortable and cared for, and the chef even came out twice to personally check on us. Kevoy from watersports was one of the highlights of our trip. Every morning he greeted us with positive energy and conversation. He checked in with us throughout the week, remembered details about guests, and made everyone feel included. He has a natural gift for connecting with people. He’s detailed oriented and kept his section of the beach clean. At Mariachi, Shereene always welcomed us with a huge smile and excellent service. Camiesha also stood out both there and later at breakfast at Stella’s. Days after meeting us, they both still remembered our names. That level of customer service is rare and made a lasting impression. Rannan at the BBQ restaurant was sweet, engaging, and always welcoming. Quick service with a smile and great conversation. Tonyo at Stella’s provided fast service while staying cheerful and eager to help. He handled everything quickly and professionally. Shericka made our visits to Yaku especially enjoyable. She was warm, attentive, patient, and professional every time we saw her. Her service was impeccable and smile contagious. We also want to thank Anya, Hilroy, and Lindley for quickly helping us move rooms after noise became an issue. The only real downside during our stay was that the LK side of the resort could be very loud late at night because of weddings and events. However, management responded quickly and moved us to the opposite side of the resort without any problems. On a positive note, both rooms were beautifully decorated and the AC was arctic cold. A bonus in the Caribbean. Both rooms were restocked and cleaned daily. Another challenge involved diabetic-friendly desserts. Even after working with the culinary concierge team for several days, sugar-free desserts were difficult to find consistently. There was a communication/system issue. Once the hotel manager Danielle became aware of the problem, it was handled quickly and professionally. We were told diabetic-friendly desserts would now be available daily at Café de Paris, which we appreciated very much. They had not previously been available unless requested. Astina was very helpful with food concerns at both the culinary desk and Mariachi. Chef Lamar was also professional, understanding, and accommodating throughout our stay. Kirt, the pastry chef, also deserves recognition, along with Ashara. Kirt made delicious sugar free/diabetic friendly desserts in addition to his daily duties. Ashara helped us in several locations including concierge, the food trucks, and Stella’s. What stood out most was her willingness to learn and understand diabetic needs instead of dismissing them. She said she wanted to learn more about diabetes. Her attitude and kindness were greatly appreciated and showed her compassion for those with specific food requirements. On our last day, Diadra, manager at The Mill, personally made sure my diabetic snack was ready for us at 10 a.m. That level of care and follow-through did not go unnoticed. Trevor from Loyalty did a great job booking our next stay. The people at Beaches Negril are what make this resort special. This can’t be stated enough - the people make the resort. Even with a few issues during the trip, the staff’s professionalism, kindness, and quick responses made a huge difference. We left feeling appreciated and are already looking forward to returning next year. Read less

Long Read — But Pertinent Information for First-Time Travelers Considering Beaches Negril Our experience at Beaches Negril has honestly been a mix of incredible moments and frustrating ones. The property itself is beautiful, many of the staff members were genuinely kind and responsive, and there were definitely moments during this trip that reminded us why people love Jamaica so much. However, for a first-time experience at this price point, there were enough repeated communication and consistency issues that I feel they should be addressed honestly. We booked flights and rooms directly through Beaches with the assistance of a representative. We specifically requested a ground-floor room because my partner is handicapped and cannot safely navigate stairs repeatedly. After literally 24 hours of travel from Oregon to Jamaica, we arrived exhausted only to find we had been assigned a third-floor room. Thankfully, staff corrected this issue quickly and moved us to a ground-floor room almost immediately, which we truly appreciated. Once settled in, though, several maintenance issues became obvious across our rooms. Broken toilet seats, closet doors that didn’t latch properly, a broken phone, broken connecting doors, and a non-working AC unit in the smaller room were all things we encountered right away. To the resort’s credit, every issue we reported was handled promptly and repaired quickly. That tells me the problem isn’t uncaring staff — it’s likely a lack of communication and preventative maintenance between guest stays. In my opinion, rooms should be inspected more thoroughly before new families check in, especially at a roughly $14,000 price point for a family trip of six. Food-wise, everything was okay, but not particularly memorable overall. That said, Kimonos was absolutely delicious and ended up being one of the standout dining experiences of the trip. Drinks throughout the resort were pretty watered down, though honestly that’s somewhat expected at many all-inclusive resorts. One thing that genuinely surprised us was the amount of cigarette smoking throughout the property. As former smokers ourselves, we understand designated smoking areas exist at many resorts, but it often felt unavoidable in common areas and around family spaces. At a family-focused resort, we were surprised there weren’t stricter limitations or better separation for smoking areas. We rented a cabana on our first day, and while our cabana attendant disappeared frequently, he also somehow magically reappeared with things we mentioned liking — including tracking down a fresh coconut drink for me that wasn’t even officially offered. That extra effort genuinely meant a lot and added to the experience. One major complaint involves the SNUBA excursion. We were under the impression it was included, only to later receive a bill for over $600. We understand that paperwork may have mentioned fees somewhere, but the forms were extremely difficult to read and were presented to us simply as “waivers.” At no point did anyone clearly explain there would be a substantial additional charge attached. Better communication upfront would have prevented a lot of frustration. The lazy river was probably my biggest safety concern. While we still enjoyed it, it did not appear to be cleaned very well and, more importantly, there seemed to be very little supervision or enforcement of safety rules. Small children were freely walking and swimming through areas where the current pushes guests along on tubes. Multiple times our group accidentally collided with children coming around corners because they were standing directly in the flow path instead of using tubes. At one point, a child’s head ricocheted between my tube and the wall multiple times while he was trying to come up for air, and there was genuinely nothing I could do to stop it once the current caught us. It honestly scared me. Drowning is a very real concern in an attraction like this, especially when children are unsupervised or not using flotation devices. There absolutely should be stricter monitoring, enforced tube use for smaller children, and better adult supervision requirements in the lazy river specifically. There are multiple other pools on the property for free swimming and walking around, but the lazy river should be treated differently for safety reasons. One final issue ultimately changed our opinion of whether we would return. We had arranged and paid for our children’s names to be done in pool art and were specifically guaranteed it would be completed Friday evening so the kids could wake up and see it Saturday morning before we left. Unfortunately, it was never done, and by the time we realized it, there was no time left to correct it before departure. To some people that may sound minor, but after multiple communication issues throughout the trip, this ended up being the final straw for us. The disappointment on the kids’ faces honestly mattered more than the money itself. Ironically, that same Friday we had actually booked a second future trip through Beaches for the Beaches Turks & Caicos location that would have cost us roughly $27,000. After the continued miscommunications — especially surrounding something specifically promised for our children — I decided to cancel that future booking and take that investment elsewhere. What’s frustrating is that none of these issues individually were catastrophic. It was the consistent pattern of communication breakdowns, unmet expectations, and details falling through the cracks that slowly overshadowed what otherwise could have been an exceptional experience. Overall: beautiful location, many wonderful staff members, and plenty of moments that made the trip worthwhile — but also several avoidable frustrations that kept this from being the seamless luxury experience we expected for the price point. With stronger communication, clearer expectations, better safety enforcement, and more consistent room maintenance, this place could easily live up to the Beaches reputation. Read less
