The hotel

The Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives takes its name from the Maldivian word for crystal white sand, and it isn’t difficult to see why. Dhonveli is situated on a private island, surrounded by the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. A secluded tropical paradise, the resort combines authentic Maldivian design and décor with modern comforts, facilities and amenities, to offer guests the ultimate Maldivian holiday experience. Why not treat yourself to a stay in an Over Water Suite — resting over the shallow waters surrounding the island, they offer privacy and seclusion. They have a spacious bedroom and a living area with glass panel to watch the marine life below, whilst outside a private sun deck has steps directly down into the water.

On its own private island in Kaafu Atoll, in the heart of the Indian Ocean. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 25 minutes by speedboat.

Hotel information

148 rooms. All with balcony or terrace, air conditioning, satellite TV, mini-bar, tea/coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, iron, safe, and spacious indoor/outdoor bathrooms, some with bathtub and/or separate rainfall shower and bath amenities. Superior Ocean View Rooms are located in two-storey buildings facing the ocean, with 1 king-size bed (2 additional beds on request), sleeping maximum 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Room upgrades

Beach Bungalows are located around the bay, offering stunning views of the glistening Indian Ocean, with 1 king-size bed and separate divan/day bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults and 1 child.

Water Bungalows are located on the southwest side of the island and offer 66 sq m of living space, state-of-the-art entertainment facilities and a spacious private terrace leading out to the lagoon. Each bungalow comes with a Jacuzzi, 1 king-size bed and separate divan/day bed, sleeping maximum adults.

Junior Beach Suites are located on the beach with an outdoor verandah and terrace and an open-air shower or bathtub with 1 king-size bed and separate divan/day bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Over Water Suites are situated on the northwest side of the island and have a total of 85 sq m of living space with a glass floor panel, and a private outdoor terrace, sleeping maximum 3 adults. Over Water Suite guests enjoy exclusive access to the resort’s Rehendhi Restaurant and Bar, serving gourmet buffets and wines from the attached wine cellar, plus an exclusive swimming pool to while away the hours.

Beach Suite with Pool are a 2 story unit with a separate living and bedroom space overlooking the beach front and an outdoor shower with 1 king-size bed and single/day bed on upper floor and the option for a rollaway bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Ground Floor Suites have a day bed which can be used as a single bed, sleeping maximum 5 adults and 3 adults and 2 children.

One Last Evening in Paradise 🌴💙 Tonight is our last evening here, and tomorrow we sadly leave this beautiful island. Looking back at these days, we can honestly say that this has been such a special escape from everyday life. Our water villa, the beautiful beaches, crystal-clear water, sunsets, sunrises and the relaxed island atmosphere have made every day feel special. We have loved watching the surfers from the beach and simply enjoying the slower pace of life here. A very special thank you to the wonderful team at Dalchini Restaurant, especially Bhagya and Zareer, who took such great care of us. They also helped create a beautiful surprise for my husband's birthday, which made the evening even more special. ❤️🎂 A big thank you as well to General Manager Marlon, Mira from Reception, Sattar, Rafiqul and Moklesh, and the entire team for being so kind, welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. We have also loved discovering the Sri Lankan and Maldivian flavours here, and the food has been such an enjoyable part of the experience at Yumna kitchen. And one completely unexpected thing we absolutely have to mention: the staff here smell AMAZING! 😂 We have travelled to many places and have genuinely never noticed this before. Even the team working outside in the heat and sun somehow smells so fresh and lovely. We honestly don't know what shower gels, perfumes or magic you are using, but whatever it is, please never change it! 😂 Tomorrow we leave, but we will definitely be taking many beautiful memories with us. We spent an amazing honeymoon in the Cinnamon Dhonveli. They were waiting for us at airport and they ride us in a soeed boat to the island. It took over 30 minutes. We arrived quite late but they were really fast with the check in so we could go to the room just in a few minutes. Even it was after 23:00, they prepared us a late dinner in the sunset bar. We were 2 nights in a water bungalow and it was amazing to wake up and see the vies of the ocean and the reef. We spent anothe 2 nights in a beach bungalow but they made us an upgrade and we finally were in a junior beach suite. Amazing and with direct access to the beach. The staff of the hotel was amazing and they gave us a free dolphin excursion, a Bottle of wine in the room and a sunser dinner for free due to a Honey moon package. We didnt know this and it was amazing to receive this gifts from the hotel. Special mention to Sattar, the guy preparing the towels and the hammocks in the beach. He was so kind and enjoyable and he prepared us a surprise in our hammocks. He is so kind and funny all the time. We really love you man. You rock it man. He even offered himself to take us some pictures in the beach and they were amazing. The hotel offers excursion for snorkel and there is another company (Dive and Sail) that offers too. We went to the sharks snorkel and wow, amazing. We went in a boat with another guests during around 45 minutes and we snorkel with a lot of sharks and rays. It was better than we expected. There is also an Spa in the hotel and we took a special couple treatment. Fully recommended. Great time in an amazing hotel. It was the best finish of our honey moon.
