The hotel

The Cinnamon Dhonveli Maldives takes its name from the Maldivian word for crystal white sand, and it isn’t difficult to see why. Dhonveli is situated on a private island, surrounded by the sparkling turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. A secluded tropical paradise, the resort combines authentic Maldivian design and décor with modern comforts, facilities and amenities, to offer guests the ultimate Maldivian holiday experience. Why not treat yourself to a stay in an Over Water Suite — resting over the shallow waters surrounding the island, they offer privacy and seclusion. They have a spacious bedroom and a living area with glass panel to watch the marine life below, whilst outside a private sun deck has steps directly down into the water.

The location of this resort is a paradise for surfers on one side, while on the other side it offers vacationers relaxation on a beautiful white sandy beach. Our room was mezonet. So it was perfeft and daily clean. We had an all-inclusive package, which was definitely a great choice and well worth the price. If you enjoy peace and quiet while sleeping, we recommend choosing a beach villa rather than one by the open ocean, as the ocean can be noisy at night due to the waves. It didn’t bother us at all — in fact, we really enjoyed the sound. The food is excellent, and the resort offers a wide selection of restaurants and bars, a large children’s area with playground equipment, two swimming pools, a tennis court, table tennis, a volleyball court, a badminton court, as well as water sports and excursions. From the very beginning, you are welcomed by the amazing and incredibly helpful Ren, who truly turns your stay into a real holiday. At the beach bar, Sungaya takes care of you with a smile and mixes the best drinks! The cuisine is varied and outstanding. The only downside is the lack of sun loungers on the main beach, which may lead to disappointment in the morning unless you wake up early. Otherwise, everything was absolutely perfect! Read less

We travelled in 2nd week of January 2026. And it was very pleasant and memorable trip for my complete family. Everything starting from transfers, food, location and facilities were well planned and served. Only suggestion would be to make all items in mini bar free if guests have taken all inclusive package.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Luxury resort just like the magazines. Very good service too. Non air-conditioned restaurants main drawback

All you would expect from a luxury overwater resort, except food was hard to enjoy as none of the restaurants are air-conditioned, so it is humid and somewhat enclosed, so it makes you want to leave the restaurant area and not eat any of the hot food. Otherwise very happy with the resort. We had two overwater bungalows but Beach bungalows are… Read more

Arrived 2 days ago, via TUI, for 10 nights stay. Took the over water banglow, beautiful view, spacious, water very nice colour. However is outdated, no attention to details. The airconditioner is dripping water on the wall and has spider webs and mold inside. The windows are not cleaned properly- so the beautiful water view is ruined, the sink tap has calcium deposit on edge - this shows unproper cleaning day by day, the mirror is rusted. The curtains do not close properly- i had to use a hair clip to close it and they are not ironed. The jacuzzy is scratched, i closed the drain and i can not open anymore...the shower doors are wably because the top bar is missing the screws and is attached to the wall in one side only, the seal is yellow and the shower head has not been cleaned not even on the arrival day so avoid room 521..we took all inclusive that here is not all inclusive. There is one restaurant (buffet) for all inclusive if i want to go to the other 2 i have to pay. The food is fresh but limitted and focused a lot on indian food, there is a menu drink that inludes glassed wine, beer- 1 type only and 10 coktails anything else you need to pay. The staff is not as warm and friendly as other cultures, not all of them have ironed uniforms, in the first day i hold a bartender accountable for a mistake and he ignored me afterwords- they have a bar where all inclusive can get snacks in between meals, 4.30 he told me he placed the food order - he never did. 30 min later I went to the bar, asked another lady when is the food coming and he raised his voice " i placed the order". Kim went and checked, the order was never placed, she fixed the issue but we waited for 1 h just because he was pissed. This was at 5 pm- we arrived at 1 pm and had nothing to eat until 5.30. We were told on arrival we will get a bottle of wine and room decorated for the anniversary - no wine arrived... Bottom line is that i would return to Maldives but not at this resort- it needs improvment so you feel you get your money wort. Small details all over the resort like paint work that is messy, windows not cleaned properly, lack of tropical flowers, doors that do not close properly on bathrooms and toilets, daily cleaning without showers being cleaned, the pool area does not smell nice. We been to 4 stars resorts in South America and Europe and got better value for what we paid, better staff attitude or even a smile and good morning without being the first to approach the staff.
