My boyfriend and I stayed at Cinnamon Dhonveli Resort in October, and our experience was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. Everything was beautiful, from the resort itself to the food and the incredible atmosphere, but what really made our stay special was the kindness and warmth of the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that every guest felt comfortable and that all their needs and expectations were met. A very special mention goes to Sattar, who is truly one of the sweetest and kindest people we have ever met. He always welcomed us with the warmest smile and made us feel genuinely cared for. Every time we came back from swimming or lunch, he had prepared the most beautiful decorations on our sun loungers using flowers, plants, and towels. Coming back and finding a new little decoration waiting for us was such a lovely surprise and made our stay even more memorable. We had an amazing stay at Cinnamon Dhonveli and would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a beautiful place, excellent service, and a truly warm and welcoming atmosphere. A dream holiday—we’d return in a heartbeat! Highly recommend Cinnamon Dhonveli! It’s absolutely stunning, and I would return in a heartbeat 💓 This holiday ticked a few things off our bucket list: visiting the Maldives, snorkelling and having dinner on the beach. We booked a barbecue dinner by the shore, and dining under the full moon made it even more magical. The setting is beautiful, with white sand and water so calm it feels like a giant swimming pool! You can go snorkelling on the sheltered side of the resort, so bring your mask and snorkel. If you love surfing, there’s another part of the resort with waves for the more adventurous—lots of guests brought their surfboards. We stayed in a beach suite with a private pool, right on the beach. We could step outside for a swim in the sea, then come back for a dip in our own pool. There are also several big communal pools, but we were so happy with ours that we never used them! Each room was allocated a restaurant, and there was always plenty of food. There was no need to rush or pile up your plate—you could simply go back for more. The General Manager was very hands-on and lovely to chat with. He came around during dinner to check whether guests were enjoying their stay and meals. We even saw him driving a golf buggy to give guests a lift back to their rooms! At the management cocktail party, he introduced his team, who mingled and chatted with everyone. It was also good to hear him talk about caring for the island and its surroundings, including protecting the coral by not touching or standing on it while snorkelling. He encouraged guests to avoid wasting food by taking only what they would eat, with plenty available if they wanted seconds—or thirds! A big thank you to Irmesh, Saha, the chef who prepared breakfast, pizza and pasta, and the wait team—Manoj, Ruth, Latteef, Aaish and Safee—for making every meal feel so welcoming. A special thank you to Irmesh for making my fresh juices just as I requested every day, and to our housekeeper for keeping room 803 and its bathroom clean and sand-free throughout our stay. This was our second trip to the Maldives, different island / resort to the first visit. This visit to Cinnamon Dhonveli was better than the previous one. To start with, getting to the resort was very quick and easy as we were met at Male airport by hotel staff and taken to the area where the resorts speedboats were. All in all, we landed at 09:30 local time, by 11:45 we were being welcomed at the resort with cold flannels and glasses of fruit juice. We were given a free upgrade from beach villa to an over the water villa which was an extremely nice surprise. It is the tail end of the rainy season so it did rain from time to time but only for short spells at a time. The room was very clean, housekeeping do a very good job in ensuring that it is kept that way. All staff work tirelessly to ensure your stay is memorable for all of the right reasons. For that reason I am not going to name any in particular as they are all equally good as each other. The restaurant always had a good variety of food on offer and for the nine nights we were there it was never repetitive, which considering neither me nor my wife are likers of fish dishes was a surprise as there were a few fish dishes every day. Due to the way the resort set out the different restaurants they never seemed overly busy. The marine life that we encountered from our room was unbelievable, reef sharks, stingrays, trigger fish, needle fish to name but a few. One thing to point out, this is a well renowned surfing spot globally. As such there are quite a few surfers there at anytime however, this does not detract from the level of service other guests receive. If asked would I return to this resort? My answer would be most definitely. Big thank you to all staff at the resort for making our stay brilliant. Read less
