The hotel

Meaning “Reef Above Water”, the Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives enjoys a unique location beside one of the longest stretches of reef in the archipelago. Featuring brand new beach bungalows, over-water bungalows set on stilts and platinum beach bungalows, you’re only a few steps into the waist-deep water and can enjoy fabulous views of the lagoon. Connected to the main resort via a walkway is a small private island with 20 platinum bungalows offering the ultimate in privacy. Ideal for couples or groups of friends with an outdoor pool, bar and lounge, and an exclusive restaurant for guests staying on the island.

Where is it

In Meemu Atoll, 145km south of Malé Island. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 45 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Hotel information

10 Standard Bungalows, 70 Water Bungalows and 20 Platinum Beach Bungalows are built around two islands with direct access to the lagoon. All with sun deck, air-conditioning, lounge area with glass-bottomed floor (in water Bungalows), TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar*, safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board (on request), and bathrobes. Beach Bungalows are in a secluded inland location on the main island in close proximity to the main pool & bar with 1 double bed, plus an extra bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Board basis options

Standard All-Inclusive includes buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner plus selection of local snacks served between 10:30am-11:30am, 4:00pm-5:30pm & 10:30am-11:30pm (on request). Unlimited regular house brands from a a selection of spirits and wines (served by the glass only). Unlimited cocktails and mocktails from a select menu. Selection of draught beer. Selection of Carbonated Soft Drinks, Canned Fruit Juices, Tropical Fresh Juices, Mineral Water and a selection of Tea and Coffee. Mini-bar (soft drinks, mineral water, canned beer) refilled once a day.

Virgin All-Inclusive: includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks at selected times. One seafood grill or steak dinner at the table once per stay. Beach barbecues, lobster and special seafood dinners, and à la carte orders are at a supplement. A platter of chocolates in room on second day and mini-bar including soft drinks and beer (refilled once daily). Selected domestic and premium branded drinks, including spirits, wines and cocktails, plus soft drinks such as bottled water, fresh juices, Sprite, Fanta, Cola (diet drinks at a charge), milk shakes, tea and coffee. Available 9:00am–midnight. Children's menu includes pasta, soup, nuggets, fish and chips, as well as drinks such as milkshakes, juices and squash. Snorkelling equipment, use of fitness centre, badminton court, table tennis and beach volleyball. One dolphin watching excursion per stay. Virgin All-Inclusive will begin at midday on day of arrival and end at midday on day of departure.

Premium All-Inclusive package: includes all of the inclusions of the standard package plus a welcome bottle of sparkling wine on arrival, in-room mini-bar stocked with beer, soft drinks and selection of snacks replenished daily, premium international brand spirits wines and cocktails, unlimited fresh juice and milk shakes. 2 complimentary excursions from selected list per person per stay (weather permitting). Invitation to 2 special themed party events organised by the resort, one special dinner on the beach with the option of a mixed seafood grill or steak. Signature 60-minute spa treatment once every 5-night stay and turndown service every night.

Water Bungalows offer a direct view of either sunrise or sunset with a glass-bottom floor, private sun deck and staircase leading down to the lagoon with 1 double bed, plus an extra bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Platinum Beach Bungalows are located on a small private island with a private outdoor swimming pool, bar and lounge and restaurant. The island is connected to the main resort via a walkway and is for adults 18 years above only.

On Main Island: Malaafaiy Restaurant (on the main island serving continental/buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with different nightly themes and live cooking stations; open 7:00am-9:30am, 12:30pm-2:30pm and 7:30pm-9:30pm). The Crab Restaurant (on the main island serving specialty seafood). Veli Bar & Lounge. Pool bar (located on the main island serving International cocktails and mocktails with live music; open 7:00am until the last guests leaves). On Adults-Only Island: Manzaru Restaurant. Vevu Bar & Lounge. 

Entertainment including live music, cultural show, and disco night. Cinema on the beach. 

Swimming pool. Mandara Spa* (open 10:00am-8:00pm). Mini-gym. PADI dive centre*. Non-motorised water sports including windsurfing*, catamaran sailing*, diving*, snorkelling* and canoeing*. Beach sports* and excursion programme* which includes island hopping*, fishing* and snorkelling safari*. Table tennis, badminton, beach volleyball, football, darts, board games and playing cards. Kids' play area.

A once in a lifetime trip the island is stunning We had an amazing week here the rooms were amazing the scenery was beautiful the sea life right outside our water bungalow was great we went out snorkelling everyday and saw loads of different fish, sharks, rays and turtles The only gripe we could find is that the food some days was a bit hit and miss there was some nice dishes at lunch time but it seemed in the evening the food was quite similar except for the odd dish that would change and the mrs complained every meal time there was no chips But all this was forgotten when we saw our server rumesh who brightened up every meal with his amazing service smile and looked genuinely pleased to see you, by far the hardest worker in the restaurant was always making sure his section was well looked after and replenishing drinks and clearing tables we were genuinely disappointed when he had a day off and on his return saw he had moved to the opposite side of the restaurant. We booked to do the turtle excursion with the dive team witch was good but we feel like we wasted our money as we ended up seeing them on the free trips the hotel provided (a great addition) and out side our water bungalow. Overall we had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone wishing to go to the Maldives from the stunning views and the crystal clear water the island is like paradise and we will never forget the amazing week we had in the Maldives Read less

We have just returned from Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa after a 2 week holiday. Service from the hotel starts at Male airport where we were met with a warm greeting and assisted through to our seaplane transfer. The island approach is breath taking - the 2 islands set in the turquoise sea with the white beaches glistening - it’s beautiful. We stayed on the platinum island with a premium all inclusive package. The hotel team are so welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. Our beach bungalow was lovely, views of the evening sunset & what felt like our own private beach just for us. Food was amazing - great quality, good choice and with chefs Charuna, Kelum and Anjali on hand to advise on traditional dishes as well as conjuring up little surprises including a special anniversary cake for us. Thank you. Riyaaz and Ayaash were always on hand at the table to ensure our glasses were full or that our morning coffee or tea was just right. The restaurant looks out to the beach allowing you to just sit and enjoy the view, watching the herons fish or the amusing hermit crabs moving around. The beach itself is gorgeous - you need reef shoes due to the coral but to be expected given the location. We swam with small sharks, fish and rays just metres from the shore. The attentive bar team of Nandana and Menaka always there providing fantastic service too and with a talented musical duet playing a couple of nights each week. It’s very laid back, chilled on the private island. If you want to do more then you can just walk across the board walk to the main island - more lively entertainment for those who want it. Our beach bungalow was perfect for us - everything we needed & with housekeeping in every day to look after us. We couldn’t find anything to be critical of - we tried but came up with nothing. It really was personal service. We rate the hotel and the team at Hakuraa as 10/10 and it’s because of that we are already planning our return. Read less

This place is absolutely stunning! We stayed in one of the water bungalows which I massively recommend, personally I think they are the best ones. You get your own water space and is just pure paradise. Our room and the whole resort is extremely clean, which is so important to me as I am such a clean freak! Our room was absolutely spotless, not a single bit of dirt. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate you, all of them are really friendly and happy. Anything you want or need they will do their upmost best to help you. I loved the pool & darts facilities, and the karaoke night was great fun. The day trips they offer are great, and MASSIVLY recommend the dolphin boat trip, this was truly magical, just unreal! All the food was great, lots to choose from and taste sooooo good! My only complaint would be the drinks. We was all inclusive premium, but I still felt like the drink options were pretty poor. There wasn't any popular cocktails on the list, like your Mojitos, Expresso Martini, sex on the beach, daiquiri's, Bellini's and so on...which was a real shame. There was only 1 beer choice and the sparkling wine was absolutely gross, very cheap and no bubbles at all! The wines wasn't that great either, especially when not very cold! The temperature of the drinks were quite poor to be honest. I would have expected them to keep the glasses in ice or fridge like most hot countries. It wasn't very nice trying to stomach a drink that didn't taste that great and also warm...yuk! Of course you can have ice, but as the temperature of the drinks wasn't that cold the ice melted straight away. I do need to point out though that I asked if they could make me an Expresso Martini which they happily did, but advised me if I wanted anymore I would have to pay for them. In the end, it was the only drink I liked, so I was happy to pay ($10 each). But when we left the barman did not add them to our bill, which was very kind of him!! This would not stop me from going back as the place is pure paradise and just amazing, we loved it! Tip 1 - make sure you take sea shoes, this is a must!
