The hotel

Meaning “Reef Above Water”, the Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Maldives enjoys a unique location beside one of the longest stretches of reef in the archipelago. Featuring brand new beach bungalows, over-water bungalows set on stilts and platinum beach bungalows, you’re only a few steps into the waist-deep water and can enjoy fabulous views of the lagoon. Connected to the main resort via a walkway is a small private island with 20 platinum bungalows offering the ultimate in privacy. Ideal for couples or groups of friends with an outdoor pool, bar and lounge, and an exclusive restaurant for guests staying on the island.

Where is it

In Meemu Atoll, 145km south of Malé Island. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 45 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

Hotel information

10 Standard Bungalows, 70 Water Bungalows and 20 Platinum Beach Bungalows are built around two islands with direct access to the lagoon. All with sun deck, air-conditioning, lounge area with glass-bottomed floor (in water Bungalows), TV, tea/coffee-making facilities, mini-bar*, safe, hairdryer, iron and ironing board (on request), and bathrobes. Beach Bungalows are in a secluded inland location on the main island in close proximity to the main pool & bar with 1 double bed, plus an extra bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults or 2 adults and 1 child.

Board basis options

Standard All-Inclusive includes buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner plus selection of local snacks served between 10:30am-11:30am, 4:00pm-5:30pm & 10:30am-11:30pm (on request). Unlimited regular house brands from a a selection of spirits and wines (served by the glass only). Unlimited cocktails and mocktails from a select menu. Selection of draught beer. Selection of Carbonated Soft Drinks, Canned Fruit Juices, Tropical Fresh Juices, Mineral Water and a selection of Tea and Coffee. Mini-bar (soft drinks, mineral water, canned beer) refilled once a day.

Virgin All-Inclusive: includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus snacks at selected times. One seafood grill or steak dinner at the table once per stay. Beach barbecues, lobster and special seafood dinners, and à la carte orders are at a supplement. A platter of chocolates in room on second day and mini-bar including soft drinks and beer (refilled once daily). Selected domestic and premium branded drinks, including spirits, wines and cocktails, plus soft drinks such as bottled water, fresh juices, Sprite, Fanta, Cola (diet drinks at a charge), milk shakes, tea and coffee. Available 9:00am–midnight. Children's menu includes pasta, soup, nuggets, fish and chips, as well as drinks such as milkshakes, juices and squash. Snorkelling equipment, use of fitness centre, badminton court, table tennis and beach volleyball. One dolphin watching excursion per stay. Virgin All-Inclusive will begin at midday on day of arrival and end at midday on day of departure.

Premium All-Inclusive package: includes all of the inclusions of the standard package plus a welcome bottle of sparkling wine on arrival, in-room mini-bar stocked with beer, soft drinks and selection of snacks replenished daily, premium international brand spirits wines and cocktails, unlimited fresh juice and milk shakes. 2 complimentary excursions from selected list per person per stay (weather permitting). Invitation to 2 special themed party events organised by the resort, one special dinner on the beach with the option of a mixed seafood grill or steak. Signature 60-minute spa treatment once every 5-night stay and turndown service every night.

Water Bungalows offer a direct view of either sunrise or sunset with a glass-bottom floor, private sun deck and staircase leading down to the lagoon with 1 double bed, plus an extra bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Platinum Beach Bungalows are located on a small private island with a private outdoor swimming pool, bar and lounge and restaurant. The island is connected to the main resort via a walkway and is for adults 18 years above only.

On Main Island: Malaafaiy Restaurant (on the main island serving continental/buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner with different nightly themes and live cooking stations; open 7:00am-9:30am, 12:30pm-2:30pm and 7:30pm-9:30pm). The Crab Restaurant (on the main island serving specialty seafood). Veli Bar & Lounge. Pool bar (located on the main island serving International cocktails and mocktails with live music; open 7:00am until the last guests leaves). On Adults-Only Island: Manzaru Restaurant. Vevu Bar & Lounge. 

Entertainment including live music, cultural show, and disco night. Cinema on the beach. 

Swimming pool. Mandara Spa* (open 10:00am-8:00pm). Mini-gym. PADI dive centre*. Non-motorised water sports including windsurfing*, catamaran sailing*, diving*, snorkelling* and canoeing*. We had an absolutely amazing time at the resort. From the moment we landed at Malé airport, we were greeted by the hotel staff who assisted us with checking in for our seaplane transfer. Upon arrival at the resort, we received a warm welcome from Siti, and every staff member we met throughout our stay was truly exceptional. The buffet was fantastic, offering a different theme each day. The chef at the fresh cooking station even remembered my love for spicy food and always checked if I wanted extra chilli or spice in my freshly prepared meals, such thoughtful service. We indulged in spa treatments with Dian and Windy, who provided an authentic Balinese massage experience. Our room was spotless, the view was breathtaking, and we enjoyed plenty of snorkeling right outside our water bungalow. We also went on a local island-hopping tour. While the islands themselves didn’t offer much to see, our guide Najla made the trip enjoyable with her great sense of humor and helpful nature. The sunset fishing experience was another highlight, fun and definitely worth doing. We even caught some fish, and the resort kindly served them for us at dinner the next day, which was such a special touch. The boat staff were incredibly attentive, and Najim kindly offered to take photos for us, even guiding us on how to pose for the perfect sunset couple shot. All in all, it was the wonderful staff who made this holiday truly unforgettable. We’ll definitely be returning and thanks to all the stuff for making the trip one of the best holiday we had. We’ve just returned from an amazing stay on the Platinum Island at Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa and we genuinely cannot praise the experience enough. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and the resort went above and beyond to make it feel incredibly special — from the moment we stepped off the seaplane (which we thoroughly enjoyed) to the warm and friendly welcome from the reception team. A huge highlight of our trip was completing our Open Water Dive course with Magic and his fantastic team. They were professional, patient and incredibly knowledgeable. Magic’s calming nature and sense of fun instantly put us at ease. A special mention to Asra, the dive porter, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure all our gear was prepared, organised and ready for each dive. He is a real asset to the team. We captured incredible underwater memories, including beautiful turtle photos (thank you again, Magic) and snorkelled with nurse sharks and an array of vibrant marine life. These experiences were truly once in a lifetime and unforgettable. The food and restaurant teams were equally impressive. On the hot plate, Charzina cooked everything to perfection, while Anzaria on the pans was excellent. Anjali stood out for introducing us to new foods, flavours and fruits — especially the mangosteen, which quickly became our favourite dessert fruit. We enjoyed every meal, and the service from Riyaz, with Keerthi occasionally looking after us, was warm, attentive and consistent. Our bungalow was a dream. Its beachfront position and outlook made us feel as though we were on our own private island — peaceful, quiet and endlessly beautiful. A huge thank you to Habeeb, our housekeeper, who not only kept the room spotless but also decorated it beautifully for our anniversary. It was a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot and made the day even more memorable. Bar service was another highlight. Nandana and Akalanka made fantastic piña coladas, kept the beers ice cold and always greeted us with a genuine smile. Whether it was sunset drinks or a quick refreshment during the day, they made every visit feel special. Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa delivered everything we hoped for and more on such an important milestone: stunning surroundings, fantastic diving, great food and an exceptional team who made us feel welcome every single day. We left with wonderful memories and deep appreciation for everyone who helped make our 30th anniversary so perfect. The kitchen manager was also always helpful in explaining the dishes available. The location is beautiful, and the hotel grounds are well-maintained and relaxing. However, we did feel that some aspects could be improved to fully reflect its five-star rating. The seafood selection was limited, which was disappointing as a wider range of seafood dishes is typically a highlight of all-inclusive dining. What was available appeared mostly within rice-based dishes, and guests wishing for more variety were required to pay additional charges. Similarly, the fruit options lacked diversity, and the cocktail menu offered less variety than anticipated for this category of resort. Overall, we genuinely enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warmth and hospitality of the staff. While there are areas for improvement the overall experience was enjoyable. With some refinement, this resort could offer a standard of service and quality that more closely aligns with its five-star rating. Read less

The facilities were outstanding = all staff were friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their faces. the water villas were spotlessly clean - our cleaner Hummaide was brilliant and our waiter Layann could not have been more helpful.
