We had a great stay at Cocobay Resort! It’s definitely a place to come to just for relaxation and to enjoy each others company. We thought the food and resort grounds were good. It might have been nice to have some nightly entertainment just because there isn’t much close by. Overall a great stay and would definitely recommend.

My wife and I have just returned from a week at Cocobay Resort in Antigua. Having researched several hotels, we chose Cocobay due to the overwhelming number of glowing reviews. The resort itself is set in beautifully maintained gardens with truly stunning sea views. The location alone is enough to slow your pace and reset your mind. Most of the customer-facing team were wonderful. A special mention must go to Kemlin, who couldn’t have done more to assist us, and Sacha in the coffee shop, who was consistently warm, friendly and a real pleasure to chat with. Both Kemlin and Sasha deserve 5 star ratings! We’d also like to recognise: Kerry Cheryl Delleeka Kaitlin Big smiles, great personalities, and a joy to encounter each day. We appreciated that all meals, including breakfast, were served to the table rather than buffet style. The menu changed daily and while the choice isn’t extensive, the food was consistently tasty and well prepared. It was disappointing, however, that a small handful of staff in the restaurant and bar were simply not suited to customer-facing roles. A shame, as the majority worked so hard to create a welcoming experience. The biggest challenge for us was the condition of the resort itself. The hotel is tired, exceptionally tired. It is in urgent need of refurbishment. Although our room was tidied daily, the level of cleanliness fell short. Walking around barefoot resulted in the soles of our feet turning black, and the wooden furniture, including the nightstands and dresser, felt sticky to the touch. Basic in-room comforts you would expect at this level, such as slippers and robes, were missing. We requested both. We were given robes but told the hotel does not provide slippers at all. The pool areas also felt neglected. Cleaning appeared infrequent and lacked attention to detail. A takeaway coffee cup sat beside a sun lounger for three full days. A wall-mounted ashtray was overflowing with cigarette butts. The sun loungers themselves are worn, stained and in very poor condition. The toilets near the restaurant and pool were, at times, genuinely unpleasant. In fact, they were so poorly maintained that the airport toilets felt luxurious by comparison. The fitness studio is described online as “intimate”, but in reality, minuscule, outdated and unloved would be far more accurate. One afternoon the hotel ran out of bottled water for roughly five hours. In all our years of travelling, we’ve never experienced that at any resort, at any price. In summary, Cocobay has all the ingredients to be extraordinary: the setting, the views, and some genuinely outstanding staff. But right now, the hotel is trading on past reputation and needs investment, care and renewed attention to the basics. We hope to see it restored to the level it deserves. Until then, it’s difficult to recommend at its current standard Read less
