This was my first trip to Constance Moofushi. It was my fifth trip to the Maldives, however. It was 27 years since my last visit. The four previous times, in 1993 then 94. Then again in 1998, when I proposed to my partner Claire and again in 1999 for our honeymoon. These four times were to the same island resort called Ari Beach which is now Lux Maldives. The last visit in 1999 was in the aftermath of the most devastating El Niño event that destroyed 90% of the world’s coral reefs with the Indian Ocean being particularly badly affected. I vowed never to return because after seeing the reefs in pristine condition to seeing them dead upset me so much. But! After 27 years I changed my mind and boy was I glad I did. On arrival at Male, we were met by a charming Constance representative. He explained everything we needed to know about our onward journey and drove us to the Constance seaplane lounge about a 5 minute drive away. The lounge gave us a taste of what was to come. Calm and relaxing and beautifully stylish. We were offered refreshments and food while we waited the 45 minutes for the seaplane transfer. A 30 minute flight and we arrived at Moofushi to be greeted as the seaplane taxied to the arrival jetty by smiling and waving senior staff members. We then walked the short distance to the reception to be treated with a refreshing drink, given a bag to put our shoes in and a pair of Flipflops to wear. We were then taken on a tour of the island and shown where everything was and taken to our beach villa. Our beach villa was stunning, free mini bar with wine, beer, soft drinks and even Champagne at no extra cost. The villas are also cleaned twice a day. The Island itself describes paradise, not the other way round and although at full capacity never felt crowded, in fact quite the opposite. When showing friends back home photos one commented, where are all the people. The food in the restaurants was of the highest quality with different themes every night and entertainment every evening in the Manta bar should you choose to go. If not, there are other bars for you to enjoy. Now, onto the staff. From the wine experts that learn what your preferences and to the restaurant staff, to the people that keep the island tidy, they are all truly amazing, kind polite and informative and you end up feeling like they are your friends. A special mention has to go to Maaix, Gopan, Jeff/Joffra and Maddu. I could go on for ages because you cannot fault anyone or anything about Constance Moofushi, it is perfect. I have gone on enough. Thank you Mevin and your truly incredible family of staff for the most wonderful holiday. We will be back.
