We just got back from an amazing 8-day stay at Dreams Aventuras in a Preferred Oceanview room, and once again, it felt like coming home. We actually honeymooned at this resort 18 years ago and have been returning ever since — that alone says a lot! One of our favorite parts of going back year after year is seeing the same friendly faces. From the moment we arrive and are greeted by our favorite bellman, Ronier (or Ronnie, as everyone calls him), we feel so genuinely welcomed. The resort is smaller and more intimate, which we absolutely love. It really does feel like our home away from home. The staff consistently go above and beyond to make sure guests are taken care of. Yes, we’re frequent visitors, but honestly, it doesn’t matter if it’s your first trip or your twentieth — they truly do their best to accommodate requests and quickly handle any concerns. This particular visit was sunny but unusually cold — apparently the coldest stretch the area has seen in about 20 years. Since the weather wasn’t ideal for lounging in the pool, we treated ourselves to two couples massages with the incredibly talented Nestor and Guadalupe, which were fantastic. We also rented a golf cart for a day from Paul Ostrovsky to explore the town of Puerto Aventuras and enjoyed walking around the marina and local shops. Be sure to keep your eyes open for monkey sightings, hit up Jesse’s Gelato and attend the Saturday/Wednesday La Lomita market (10am-1pm) across from the town gazebo. As Preferred guests, we had access to Oceana for breakfast and lunch, which was always delicious and peaceful. The restaurant team — Julian, Teresita, Jose, Elia, and Nadian— took such great care of us, along with Jazi in the Preferred Lounge and Lennin and Rueben around the main pool. Our room was spacious with a breathtaking view, and Barbara, our housekeeper, kept everything spotless while always greeting us with a warm smile. Our final night was especially memorable thanks to Yanin, the Rooms Division Director, who always manages to amaze us. I casually mentioned that we hadn’t seen the Tenors perform in several years, and somehow they were brought in for our last night’s entertainment show! We had front-row seats, and later returned to our room to find rose petals, champagne, and chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for us. Such a thoughtful surprise. We can’t recommend this resort enough. It’s wonderful for young families and empty nesters alike. For us, the relationships we’ve built with the staff over the years make it truly special. When we got home, I jokingly told my husband it was time to “take our crowns off” — because for 8 days, they sure made us feel like royalty. Read less

He helped us learn some Spanish and even some Mexican culture. Was the place perfect as far as quality, no, but it was really nice and the staff work hard with what they have. The beach was a little rough in spots. The food overall was good, some better than others, but as a whole we enjoyed eating there. Good experience and would go again some day in the future. Read less

This is our 14th stay at the resort. We love how intimate, homey and cozy the resort is, not overly large but not too small. You feel like a part of the family. They get to know everyone and make a point of always making you feel special

This resort is a 10/10 for families with children - if you are a couple or group of adult friends, I suggest you go somewhere else. I have never seen so many kids at a resort. That said, if you are taking your littles of any age- this is THE place. We took out 16 month old and there are activities everywhere for kids of all ages and the resort caters to them with special drink menus, fun activities and entertainment like a beach movie night, special snacks, menu items at the a la cartes, etc. I have stayed at over a dozen different resorts all over the Caribbean, and this was my 8th time in Mexico - this was a great resort. Other than a very poo experience at El Patio, overall the service was good. The hotel was clean. The entertainment was excellent! As everywhere, the food was good - it is resort food and the staff individually make or break an experience. Issac was an exceptional waiter - among a few others. The beach is smaller, but so close to everything. And because it is blocked in, it makes for the perfect area for little ones swimming in the water. I never felt like my child needed to behave or was being disruptive, it made for a very enjoyable time. Read less
