Another wonderful vacation at Dreams Aventuras. As always, the people make this resort extraordinary. From the moment you are greeted by the bellmen - Francesco and Romeo (Romeo always had a bottle of water waiting for me after my morning runs) are friendly and so helpful - to the lovely preferred club concierges, Paulina and especially the lovely Alberto (who I just discovered has left the resort which makes us very sad), guests are made to feel so special. There are so many people here who are just so wonderful and friendly all the time. Karen and Jorge, the beach wait staff are so attentive - Karen, you make me laugh all the time! The lifeguards who take care of us, especially Yanai who also makes me laugh, but keeps us safe. Gabriela, who keeps the pool area sparkling; Rosalba, our buena amiga, who keeps the hallways sparkling; and Barbara, our room maid this time who was excellent! The wait staff and bartenders are amazing - Miguel and especially our buena amiga, Anita, who are at the Coco Cafe in the evenings; Diana and Margareta, at the Coco Cafe in the mornings who both make the best lattes with a side of smiles all the time. Leo at Seaside; Cruz at El Patio; Jose at Portofinos; Ivan, our beach dinner waiter (who also is an excellent bartender; and especially Manuel at Gohan, always so professional and attentive and sweet. Jazi, the preferred club bartender is wonderful and so friendly, making us special drinks. Special shout out to Amado, our buen amigo, who is a fantastic bartender at the preferred club and funny and very sweet. The entertainment staff continues to shine - Berenice, the head of the staff continues her excellence with a new Mexican show. All her staff - Daniella (please forgive me, senorita, if I spelled it incorrectly), Martin, Uriel (who is new and fabulous), and the lovely Christian and Sebastian! But what stands out as the best time of day for us was breakfast at the World Cafe! Sandra, who greeted us every day like old friends; our omelet lady, Ana, who was patient with my Spanish; Pascal and Yasmin who did the back prep for the delicious food; chefs Adrian and Lusia - food is yummy; wait staff, Hector, Ezequiel, and our buen amigo, Eleno. Our newest friend, Lilly, the breakfast manager who is doing a fabulous job - we felt like we have known you forever! However, our special thanks and hugs go to our lovely server every morning, Rosy. Our vacation would not be the same without you, senora! Your smile, your humor, your service, also your patience with my Spanish! She had our order memorized and table ready every day with exactly what we wanted. She is a great server, but more importantly, a wonderful person. In the pictures attached to this review, you will see our breakfast on the beach. Lilly and Rosy set this up for us one morning, and our chefs, Lusia and Adrian had all the food prepared - all of our favorites. These are people who care about their guests! So - as I have said in the past and now, the people keep us coming back. This is an older resort which needs constant updating. As I have stated before and continue to complain about, the owners of the resort need to care about their guests as much as their employees do. Once again, the large hot tub by the beach still has jets that are not functioning - owners, fix it! Or don't say you have a hot tub by the beach in your advertisements - say you have a large bath tub! The room renovations done a few years ago were needed and are good, but additional work should be done - including upgrading your air conditioning and fixing your hot tub. One final note - this is a small resort with a smaller beach area. Stop roping off part of it as a "preferred club" amenity. That is ridiculous. If you want a true amenity for the additional money you are charging for preferred, then make the bali beds the amenity - and stop charging an exorbitant amount for them. Just a thought. However, aside from these issues, we had a wonderful time! Rosy - keep the water coming!! LOL Read less

This was our 4th time at Dreams Aventuras and our last. I will be very honest about the resort. STAFF: The best of any resort we have ever been at. Absolutely wonderful. BEACH: Not you typical sandy beach. it is man made but is just fine with a shallow lagoon. RESTAURANTS: Food was ok. I though they were better in the past. It seems the quality is going down a bit. They are still good but not as good. We were disappointed on our last day in the Portofino. Our friend has an allergy, which they were aware of, but served her the wrong dish, she caught it and it was returned. My husband didn't receive his "pasta" dish but was served his main course instead. It was cold and he returned it. I share my pasta with him but I never received my main dish. We didn't even bother with dessert at that point. The Gohan was great. My husband has a shelfissh allergy so we were reluctant on this restaurant but there was plenty for him to choose from and they were very accommodating in eliminating and shell fish from his dishes. The Seaside was also good but we missed not having the "short ribs' on the menu. They had BBQ ones instead and they were great. The Oceana for breakfast and lunch are great also. They will make or bring anything that you want.. We only ate in the buffet once for breakfast and the made to order eggs were wonderful, but most of the other items were cold. The World Cafe ( buffet ) is only open for breakfast and lunch, no dinners. PROS: The resort is small which is great and it is in a gated community, which makes it very safe. The "town" is walkable with lovely shops and restaurants. Try Latitudes, just on the other side of the bridge. Good food and atmosphere. We were in the Preferred, which has it's perks, to us it was not worth it this time. ( more on that later). The preferred has it's own pool and restaurant for breakfast. It also has a small lounge for drinks and small bites to eat. The staff are amazing, all of them. Always smiling and greeting you. They make you fell like family. CONS: As I said this was our 4th time there and this one was very disappointing. We know that Hyatt took over and we are seeing small changes happening. On our first visit in 2024 we received a small bottle of bug spray and suntan lotion in our room, not anymore. We also had M&M's and Pringles left by housekeeping everyday, not anymore. I know they are small things but it's the small things that can make it seem like more. The preferred pool bar always served your drinks in washable plastic cups, now they are using throw away cheap cups. The Preferred Pool bar did not stock the "premium alcohol" they advertise. They did in the lounge. Not "top" shelf but better than the main pool. They consider Smirnoff vodka premium in the main pool. You could get Absolut,( sometimes) at the preferred bar. Most of the time the bartender would say he was out. The restaurants did not serve premium either. The Preferred pool is way to small for the number of people they are booking. We know this is a family resort but when you have 25-35 children in one small pool, the only ones who can enjoy it are the kids. That's like having a kindergarten class in your pool. Jumping off the sides and throwing balls around. If you are in the pool with a drink it would get splashed and then become undrinkable. The parents just didn't seem to care. The hot tub was also unusable the entire week we were there because of all the children playing in it. Including parents with children in DIAPERS. Disgusting. The Preferred Swim up bar was also unusable. Because it was shallower the children thought it was their wading pool. I love children but this was the out of control. There is a wonderful children's pool but it is not on the Preferred side. This pool used to be an Adults Only but was changed when Hyatt took over. On our last day we witnessed a gentleman 'reserve" 12, yes 12 chairs all along one side of the pool. There are only 12 to each side. We witnessed the mother of a teen going to the bar and getting the teen drinks. There were also adults and teens Vaping at pool. At one point there was a teen boy throwing young children into the pool on top of other children. OUT OF CONTROL. Other people were also upset and left the pool, we told staff and left ourselves. One couple we met said they were so disappointed with the preferred pool that they were trying to check out to go to another resort. Very Sad. I was disappointed in Management, they did come and find us to ask what happened and we told them and that the throwing of children was a safety issue and that someone was going to get injured and that there are too many children for that size pool and that they shouldn't be in the hot tub playing. I was told and I quote " "Well This is a family resort" and "Maybe you could come in the slow season". REALLY, this is what you tell a guest. This IS the slow season and I should be able to enjoy my vacation any time of the year. This is also a couples resort and they advertise it as a wedding destination. There is a wonderful children's pool but it is not Preferred. Maybe Hyatt should rethink their Preferred Club. Anyway we are very disappointed in the Preferred and would NOT recommend. TO MANAGEMENT AND HYATT- Do not advertise this as a couple resorts, it is not. It is a resort for families with children only. The Preferred Pool is definitely not worth the money. Hyatt should rethink this resort and make the entire resort "Preferred" , that way the parents can use the other pool but still get the "Premium" alcohol. The Preferred pool should be turned back into an "Adults" only pool as it was in the past. I am very disappointed in what this resort has become and will not return. Read less
