The resort, the location, the food, and the service were all excellent! I have helped with over 800 weddings myself. We own and operate hotels and restaurants and have two wedding venues. My youngest daughter chose to have her wedding at dreams and we all so appreciate them doing so. Enrique And, his assistant did an excellent job with my daughter‘s wedding and Rehearsal Dinner ! The Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding definitely exceeded our expectations! Although we were there for a wedding, I would definitely go back with our family and friends mostly because of the wonderful people that we met that work at dreams. Two of my favorite people were David and Orlando who greeted me on the day of my arrival and sent me off with a smile on the day I reluctantly left. I did end up extending my stay one extra day, lol. I so enjoyed seeing David and Orlando from time to time throughout my stay. Another wonderful individual that I enjoyed seeing every day was Alberto. He helped with the events and activities. Such great energy, and he was always there to answering my questions and informing me on the daily activities. One of the most important interactions I had was with Marianna, who helped me check in at the preferred lobby. I had separate reservations and she was able to merge them and keep me stay in tye preferred room rather than having to change rooms. At first it looked to be an impossible situation, but she took the time to contact a supervisor and help make my stay even more enjoyable. Guillermo was also a friendly face that I seen almost daily by the lobby bar. Also, Jesus was a wonderful bartender and the bartenders that all worked the lobby bar the first evening that everyone arrived was truly amazing! Almost our entire group of 100 people descended on the lobby bar that evening and the service could not have been better. We had such great experiences at all the restaurants and I I’m sorry that I cannot remember all the names. But I have to give a huge shout out to Irving who worked at the French restaurant that we went to the night after the wedding. He is one of the best waiters that I’ve ever had any truly made the night memorable. Thank you, team members and management at dreams! Keep up the good work! We will all hopefully come back to see you soon ! God Bless you all ! George S. Broadwell Read less

Otherwise you'll be waiting more than an hour for dinner. Appetizers come quickly, but the main meal and dessert take an extremely long time to get to your table. Dolce is the coffee/ice cream shop. They say they open at 6:30 am, which they do, but they are setting up at that time. If there are more than 3 people in line at any time, be prepared to wait. The resort grounds were very nice, but the rooms are outdated. You can see the wear and tear throughout the buildings. Rooms are extremely humid all the time, even with the air conditioner on. The rooms need a major renovation. We did the preferred club as well. The check in process was nice in the separate area, and having a place to get snacks and drinks was nice, but overall, not worth it. On check in, the staff will push you to attend a breakfast meeting for their Vacation Club program. The vibe definitely changed when we said we were not interested. You do get access to Bali beds, but beware. You'll need to wake up 5:30 am or earlier to get one. Plus, the staff is not consistent with enforcing the "rule" of unattended Bali beds. My family and I were gone just for breakfast and when we returned, our stuff was removed. I had seen bed unattended for hours, and nothing happens. The lazy river was nice and my son and I enjoyed this each day. However, even if you are not preferred club, they are not checking and I'm sure anyone can use it. We would not return to this resort in the future. There are much better ones that are superior in every way and with a better price. Read less

We’ve stayed at Secrets Akumal twice and absolutely loved it—we were blown away both times. Because of that, we expected this resort to be similar, and unfortunately, it just wasn’t. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the property is understaffed. Many employees didn’t come across as warm or welcoming, and overall service felt lacking. The resort itself feels dirty and run down, as others have mentioned—but the level of uncleanliness was honestly unacceptable. Glass surfaces looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in days, and the public bathrooms were a complete mess by 10:00 a.m. The fact that there’s often just one soap dispenser for multiple sinks is especially concerning—it's surprising more illnesses don’t spread in that environment. The food was below average overall. We did enjoy the hibachi experience, but it was difficult to get a reservation. The Mexican restaurant had extremely long wait times, which doesn’t make much sense for a family resort where quicker service would be expected. We were also promised a complimentary bottle of tequila with our Preferred Club room and never received it. Room service for turndown was happening at 9:00 p.m. or later, which is not ideal at all when traveling with small kids. Entertainment was hit or miss. The circus show and magician were fantastic, but most other shows didn’t hold our kids’ attention. The light show we attended definitely didn’t feel kid-appropriate—about half the audience left early. To make things more frustrating, the resort frequently changed the entertainment schedule with very little notice. My kids were so excited for a silent disco that was listed on the app, only for it to be removed a few hours before. The Preferred Club experience also fell short. The staff wasn’t particularly friendly, and food would sit out for hours—breakfast items lingering until 1:00 p.m., then replaced with items that sat out through dinner. Poolside food options were limited, and wait times were often over an hour. There were occasional fun food pop-ups around the resort, but communication was poor—you never knew when or where they’d be happening, and we often found out after we had already eaten. As for the kids’ experience, the kids club seemed geared toward much younger children. My 10-year-old was bored and didn’t want to go back—the teen club would have been more appropriate. The space itself is small, and there wasn’t much variety in activities. They advertised a “campout night,” which sounded fun, but it ended up just being hamburgers outside. They had also mentioned a fire and marshmallows, which never happened. This was our first time trying a kid-friendly all-inclusive, so maybe our expectations were off—but given our amazing experiences within the same brand, we really thought we’d love it here. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return. Save your money and look elsewhere—this just isn’t it. Read less
