Staff couldn’t do enough for us - a shout out to Elite, our villa host, Arres, Pryanka, Ram, Joseph and all of the wonderful chefs ( who cooked us individual fish and curry dishes) waiters, and waitresses at the restaurants - we know we’ve missed many names but they are all great, greeting us daily with a warm smile and a ‘can do’ attitude 👍
From the seamless arrival at the resort to our departure in inclement weather, we were well looked after throughout the holiday, and our requests were dealt with promptly.
Highly recommend!

We stayed at Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa for our honeymoon and overall had a truly fantastic and very memorable experience.
From the moment we booked, almost a year before travelling, the communication from the resort was exceptional. Any time we had questions or requests, the team would normally respond within a few hours and were always incredibly helpful, accommodating, and flexible. It immediately gave us confidence that we were in good hands long before we had even arrived in the Maldives.
The arrival experience was one of the best we have experienced anywhere. As soon as we landed in Malé, we were greeted by a member of the Emerald team who guided us seamlessly through the entire transfer process. We barely had to touch our luggage, were escorted directly to the seaplane terminal, kept updated throughout, and even helped with getting set up on the Emerald app whilst waiting. It all felt extremely polished, organised, and professional.
The seaplane transfer itself was a fantastic experience, and the welcome upon arrival at the resort was equally impressive. Staff greeted us with drinks, a traditional welcome, and golf buggies waiting to take us to our villa. We were introduced to our butler, Iga, who was absolutely outstanding throughout the entire stay and consistently went above and beyond for us.
The island itself is stunning. It manages to feel spacious whilst still intimate and exclusive. Even when the resort was fully occupied, it never once felt crowded or busy, which is something the resort does extremely well.
The biggest standout for us was the villa itself. We stayed in a water villa with a pool and genuinely could not fault it. The room was spacious, beautifully designed, immaculately clean, and incredibly comfortable. The bed, air conditioning, bathroom, outdoor terrace, and pool area were all fantastic.
The housekeeping team were honestly some of the best we have experienced at any hotel. They always managed to service the room discreetly whilst we were out at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and the attention to detail was exceptional. Small touches really stood out throughout the stay. Staff would adjust the umbrella on our terrace depending on the weather, clean the pool daily, and even move belongings into shelter if it unexpectedly started raining whilst we were out. Those little proactive details made a huge difference.
As it was our honeymoon, the team also made a real effort to make the stay feel special, including welcome decorations, cakes, and thoughtful surprises throughout the trip. We had arranged a private beach dinner which unfortunately had to be moved due to weather, but the staff handled it brilliantly and made alternative arrangements without any fuss.
The beaches around the island were beautiful, snorkelling was excellent, and there were plenty of water sports and activities available. The spa was another highlight. Our complimentary honeymoon massage was so good that we ended up booking another treatment later in the trip.
The wine selection on the all-inclusive package was also surprisingly good overall, with plenty of variety and enough options for most tastes. The included champagne was fairly basic and not something we particularly enjoyed, but overall the drinks offering was strong.
Food quality across the resort was consistently good to very good, and importantly there was enough restaurant variety that we did not feel stuck eating in the same place every evening during a two-week stay. The teppanyaki experience was particularly enjoyable, and the culinary team also created a personalised honeymoon dinner menu for us which was a genuinely thoughtful and memorable touch.
The staff in general were very good throughout the resort, with a real shout out to Igga, Ram, Arres, and Rahiul who all stood out during our stay. Igga consistently went above and beyond for us, Ram at the beach club made lunches genuinely enjoyable every day, and both Arres and Rahiul provided excellent service throughout the trip.
There were, however, a few smaller areas where we felt the experience could be improved and which stopped the resort from reaching a true ultra-luxury 10/10 level for us.
One issue was consistency of personalised service. Whilst many staff members were absolutely exceptional and really took the time to learn our preferences and create a personal connection, there were others who felt more transactional. Service overall was always very good, but at the very best luxury resorts you tend to experience that deeply personalised service consistently across almost every interaction.
We also had a couple of minor issues with restaurant reservations. On one occasion, a reservation amendment we had requested had not been processed correctly, which resulted in us walking across the resort to one restaurant only to find there was no booking, before then having to walk back across the island again after discovering the alternative reservation had also not been updated properly. Ultimately it was simply human error and the staff were extremely apologetic and proactive in trying to make up for it afterwards, but these are the sorts of operational details guests notice at this level.
Breakfast was another area that became repetitive over a longer stay. The menu was almost identical every day and after two weeks it did start to feel a little tiring. We also noticed the breakfast buffet area was not especially well air-conditioned, meaning some items looked less appetising later in the morning after sitting in the heat and humidity for extended periods.
Lunch options could also have benefitted from slightly more variety. We preferred the à la carte restaurants over the buffet, which meant we often ended up eating at the beach grill each day. The food and service there were genuinely excellent, and Ram in particular was fantastic throughout the trip, but the relatively small menu meant we were essentially eating very similar lunches most days. A few rotating specials or menu changes during the week would have made a big difference.
The evening entertainment was probably the weakest part of the resort experience for us. Whilst there was entertainment every night, the quality and atmosphere often did not quite match the overall standard of the resort. Some evenings featured singers who were not particularly strong, and one karaoke night never really got going at all. Given the number of honeymoon couples and guests looking for a more relaxed luxury atmosphere, softer live music or more refined lounge-style entertainment may have suited the resort better.
Another small criticism was the level of upselling from some staff members. To be clear, this was always done politely and professionally, and staff were respectful when we declined. However, on several occasions sommeliers would enthusiastically recommend wines during dinner, only for us to later discover they were premium bottles costing an additional $100 - $200 outside the all-inclusive package. Whilst we completely understand premium options existing, we personally would have preferred a slightly less sales-oriented approach during meals at a high-end all-inclusive resort.
That said, these criticisms were relatively minor in the context of what was otherwise an exceptional honeymoon. The island is beautiful, the villas are stunning, the staff work incredibly hard, and the resort delivers a genuinely luxurious and memorable experience overall.
We would absolutely recommend Emerald Faarufushi to others and would happily return ourselves in the future. The team created some truly special memories for us, and with a few refinements in the smaller details, this resort has the potential to move from very good to genuinely world-class.
