May Maldives holiday

I have thought a lot about reviewing this resort. We have stayed in a few Maldives resorts, this being the most expensive as we were celebrating a special anniversary. Emerald group was recommended by a friend and all the reviews we read were good. We travelled in May and unfortunately were unlucky as the weather was by far the worst we had ever experienced in Maldives, we usually travel in the low season, mainly September. It was very windy, which meant that the red flags were out a lot so no snorkelling the reef and no dining outside which is one of the reasons we love the Maldives. We actually didn’t see one shark or stingray or many other fish whilst walking around, could this possibly be due to the weather? The staff are generally very helpful and friendly, some were excellent, a credit to the resort. The food and dining were good and as noted in previous reviews the management are always around for a chat. Our room was lovely and clean, maybe a little dated, our room attendant was excellent, very kind and helpful, he couldn’t do enough for us. One thing that was disappointing was that we had been gifted a 60 minute massage by family and decided to upgrade to 90 minutes, when we received our bill on the last night we were charged incorrectly and the sad thing was a manager came to our table during our last evening meal to dispute this, after some discussion in front of other guests it was finally corrected. Massage was amazing. Did we have a lovely holiday, yes of course we did, was it the best resort we had visited, I am not sure but maybe we are being unfair as the weather played its part. Read less
