I am super critical and often told I expect too much. So I had to read the less positive reviews on Trustpilot before I posted our FIVE STARS for this resort. I have been to the Maldives 15-20 times but this was our first time to Faarafushi. It is TOTALLY beyond me how anyone can give this resort less than 5 stars. Yes, sometimes the odd thing might not go exactly as a guest wants it (ie exactly their way !!) on holiday but every single one of the Faarafushi staff during our two week stay did their absolute best to make guests happy. The co-ordinated efforts of the restaurant and bar teams was so impressive sometimes you just sat back and watched their professionalism … especially when dealing with rude or awkward guests. Waiters and waitresses were faultless. All staff were incredibly friendly and remembered your names, your favourite foods, your drinks orders and even your preferred tables from previous days. On our departure day even the entertainment staff came to our breakfast table to say goodbye to us even though we hadn’t participated in much entertainment. To single out individual staff for praise seems unfair as EVERY member of staff seemed like they were part of a World Class football team with a very experienced coach, manager etc supporting them. Regarding food, there was plenty of variety and all very high quality - I don’t know why one review says choice was limited and I only now wish I had taken photos to prove otherwise - it is simply not true and the pastry chefs’ presentations were particularly astounding. Villa hosts were exceptionally thorough and very attentive (including pre-booking and then changing restaurant tables to suit us) – so again, the review criticising villa hosts seems very unusual. The resort has a truly exceptional mixologist who tailors drinks to your tastes, chefs who offer to make you your favourite dishes that are not on the menu, an excellent teppanyaki chef who is also a great entertainer, knowledgeable watersports guys who organised our jet-ski’s and even garden staff who swept the sand on the beach to make it as perfect as possible for guests. The room was kept clean at all times, bedding changed every two days. Ice delivered every morning and our room service included brilliant bed art as shown in the photos below. All I can say is, we will go back next year for certain, we hope the same staff are there then and, in the meantime, a big thank you to every member of staff we came into contact with this time. You are a brilliant team so don’t let the odd bad review knock your confidence. Sometimes it’s the guests fault things don’t go quite right. Best wishes, Stuart and Steve.
