I stayed at the Royal Decameron Montego Bay in August last year and it was an absolutely awful experience. It was a total waste of money and I did not feel like I got my moneys worth at all.
The staff have no manners and there is a complete lack of global customer service standards. They only seem interested in collecting tips. If you do not give them money they talk behind your back and decide they are not going to help you. The only time you see a smile is when someone is looking for a tip. I even felt as if I had to beg for basic items like towels because there were hardly any available. The bar staff were consistently rude and dismissive.
The food was another major letdown. It was bland and very basic with an endless rotation of chicken. I have never seen so many different ways to serve chicken while other traditional dishes were missing. On the one night they served oxtail people who I believe were locals on day passes were allowed to fill up massive containers and take it all. There was nothing left for the all inclusive guests and the hotel refused to replenish it. Coming from the UK I expected authentic Jamaican food but this was worse than a poor takeaway back home.
I expect the hotel will respond to this with a generic reply rather than actually improving their staff training. They seem happy to just keep collecting money while providing a terrible service. I will never spend my money to stay at this hotel again.

This hotel has an incredible, dedicated, friendly staff that went out of their way to assist us at every turn. It's a wonderful property with particularly noteworthy food options at every meal.
