The hotel

The Hard Rock name has hit the Maldives, bringing its inimitable chill out scene to the ultimate laidback location. A new concept in the Maldives, it’s more than just barefoot luxury and days of sunbathing, swimming, and snorkelling (although there’s plenty of that too). A footbridge links you to The Marina @ CROSSROADS, where a Hard Rock Cafe, SAii Beach Club, and a dining village await. And, being a Hard Rock hotel, you’ll also find VIP-worthy treats in store, like Rock Spa® treatments, super-chic eateries (The All-Inclusive option here takes your taste buds beyond the resort too, meaning you can dine around at SAii Lagoon and The Marina @ CROSSROADS), and exclusive ‘Sound of Your Stay’ music moments, including complimentary use of Fender guitars and Crosley turntables — all just 15 minutes speedboat ride from the airport.

We stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Maldives for 5 nights as a couple, and overall had a great experience thanks to the incredible staff and the beautiful property. The island itself is stunning, with crystal clear water, beautiful beaches, spacious and spotless rooms, and a great atmosphere. A special thank you to Joey, who was genuinely one of the best hosts we’ve ever met. She went above and beyond throughout our stay, helping us book spa treatments and dinners, arranging a room change when we had a noise issue, and making my birthday extra special with a surprise cake and champagne. She truly made our stay memorable. Another highlight for me was the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu mats. This was actually one of the reasons I booked the hotel. Coach Richard was incredibly welcoming, and I had the opportunity to train four times with him. Hearing his stories about training with Roger Gracie, who also trained on those same mats years ago, made the experience even more special. I’d also like to thank Monti, my diving instructor, who also took us on the dolphin cruise. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made both experiences unforgettable. I highly recommend doing the diving and dolphin trips if you stay here. That said, there are a few areas that need significant improvement. The Wi-Fi was extremely poor throughout our stay, so I’d recommend getting an eSIM like Airalo if you need reliable internet. The resort is also very family-oriented, with lots of children around, so couples looking for a quiet honeymoon-style escape may want to keep that in mind. Pool service was disappointing. Unlike many luxury resorts, staff rarely came by to ask if we wanted food or drinks, so service around the pool felt almost nonexistent. The biggest disappointment, however, was the food. Considering meals often cost between $180 and $270 for two, we expected a much higher standard. Unfortunately, almost every restaurant fell short: * Japanese Restaurant: 0/10 * Ministry of Crab: 1/10 * Elephant & Butterfly: 1/10 * Steakhouse: 1/10 * Room Service: 1/10 * Hard Rock Cafe: 3/10 * Sessions (Lunch/Dinner): 5/10 * Breakfast Buffet: 3/10 The food quality simply doesn’t justify the premium prices. This is an area the hotel really needs to improve, because everything else about the resort deserves much better dining. Read less
