Overall Review Summary The stay scored 3 overall, reflecting a stay that was acceptable in parts but well below the standard expected from a 5-star resort. Rooms and location were the strongest aspects — clean, comfortable, and quiet — but service levels were inconsistent. Check-in, staff engagement, and responsiveness were average at best and didn’t meet 5-star expectations. Food & Beverage remained the weakest area. The only outlets delivering decent quality and value were NoHo and the breakfast buffet. All other restaurants were poor, with limited options, weak execution, and overall poor value for money. Access from the rooms to the pool was also poorly designed, making simple movement around the resort unnecessarily inconvenient. For a beach/pool-driven property, this is a noticeable flaw. In addition, the hotel is clearly showing signs of declining maintenance, with areas around the resort looking tired and not kept to the standard we experienced on previous visits. Overall: a functional stay with some positives, but not a resort you would return to unless significant improvements are made — particularly around F&B, layout usability, service consistency, and general maintenance. The level of customer service throughout the restaurants was wholly unacceptable. Drink orders routinely arrived toward the end of our meals, rendering them pointless. Hot drinks were served cold, and cold drinks consisted almost entirely of ice, one sip through a straw left nothing but a glass full of ice. We repeatedly waited up to 40 minutes for our first course and faced similar delays between each course. On one occasion, our dessert never arrived at all. Raising these issues with staff was ineffective, as their indifference was evident. The situation at Noho further highlighted the hotel’s service failures. Although the restaurant offers excellent food, the service was equally disappointing. We asked the reception team to book a table; they confirmed the reservation and assured us that a confirmation email would follow. It never arrived. We contacted the concierge team on the day of the reservation, and they rebooked the table, again promising an email that never came. Upon arriving at Noho at the scheduled time, we were informed that it was closed for a private function. When we raised this with the reception team, they appeared completely unaware that the restaurant was not even open to guests. Furthermore, the promotional images of the beach were misleading, failing to show large areas that were cordoned off for a corporate event. Once that event concluded, another section was closed for a wedding. During the setup of both events, we were subjected to loud, repetitive sound checks “1-2, 1-2, testing” projected across the entire beach. The noise from the construction and dismantling of event stages was incessant. Although we had been advised of external building works, those sounds were insignificant compared to the disturbance caused by the hotel’s own events. I raised these issues with the duty manager, who was apologetic and asked what could be done to improve the situation. My response was clear: the entire team needs training, or retraining, simply to deliver the basic level of customer service we have consistently experienced in numerous UAE hotels over the past 20 years. After completing the customer survey, I received an email from a manager apologizing and encouraging us to give the hotel another chance. I replied that there is absolutely no possibility of returning. We have stayed at many other hotels across the UAE that met or exceeded expectations without necessitating repeated complaints.
