While the website pictures make the hotel and grounds look bigger than it actually is, this was a positive as it meant it was more intimate than I was expecting! I loved the fact that (apart from the last 12 hours) staff quickly learnt my name, and even those who didn't know it were always smiley and welcoming. As someone travelling alone, this made a big difference to me. Unfortunately the staff who were on for my final dinner and breakfast were less friendly and made no attempt to communicate. Apart from those 12 hours all staff were attentive and welcoming. My room was always clean and I was so impressed with how quiet it was - I heard one raised voice and one baby cry for the whole week I was there. Otherwise it was beautiful silence. The food was amazing. There was a huge selection of foods from around the world, always different for each meal. There were also areas where you could chose what / how you wanted things cooked and they would do it for you. There were also a good selection of drinks (alcoholic and non) included. It is a beautiful location and, during December, the temperatures were perfect. The buildings were beautifully spacious and nicely decorated for Christmas. Apart from at meal times, it did not ever feel busy / crowded. Unfortunately there were often queues at breakfast, but there *was* a sign to warn you of this. The only problem I then had was that the queues were on the stairs - being disabled I don't usually use stairs. I couldn't hold on to the banister, as it was covered in Christmas decorations so was made much more difficult! I had a facial and manicure, which were good too. Definitely somewhere I'd come to again. Read less

This was our first time visiting Ras Al Khaimah as a change from our usual Dubai trips. It's like visiting Dubai 10 years ago with a much more relaxing, peaceful vibe. There is much construction happening but still no where near the noise and bustle of Dubai. It's like witnessing history in the making as in a few years time it will be another Dubai. We booked a Club seaview suite and were very shockingly disappointed. The room -371- was in the main building of the hotel and was not a 5 star hotel club suite. You can see from the pictures that the room was shabbily finished with peeling corners and just slapdash. The entrance to the room is on all different levels and NOT disability friendly. There was mismatching floor levels in the room as well and we tripped a few times. In general the hotel is NOT accessible, with stairs, heavy doors that an able-bodied person would have trouble opening. All the different floor levels are not suitable for wheelchairs and we witnessed a few families having trouble moving elderly relatives in wheelchairs. There were no automatic wheelchair buttons to open doors so would need to be accompanied by a helper all the time. So be aware if you have mobility issues! We were on club board basis so went to see the club manager, Geralyn, to sort out our room. Geralyn and the club lounge were the highlight of our stay! Geralyn, Nana, Emmanuel and Elouisa were absolute stars of the club lounge and made our stay extra special. Geralyn made a huge effort to change our room and the next day we were upgrade to a club suite in the actual club building behind the club lounge to room 605- which was EXQUISITE. This was the room we had been expecting, not the original which was an absolute hovel- with view of back of other building not the sea. Finally we had an incredible panoramic view. See the pictures to compare to the previous! The club lounge provided a delicious a la carte breakfast as well as buffet and it was a peaceful experience compared to the rabble at the main buffet. The hash browns are THE BEST i've ever had! No joke, they were so so crispy, I would go back for those alone! The lounge did a beautiful afternoon tea and delicious snacks and canapés for evening drinks. Mahi Mahi skewers, Tempura potatoes and mini beef wellingtons were a few of our favourites. There's also a beautiful pool area for club guests only which is an oasis away from the rowdy main pool. The main buffet was average and we've been to hotels where the food is much superior. The chefs try their best and there were a few stand out dishes: The lasagne was incredible, the freshly cooked pizza and when they had the grill going outside on special nights, the freshly grilled lamb chops were fab. But other dishes, even when dished up fresh, were cold! I lived on pizza and chicken nuggets, which everyone went crazy for, not just the kids! There was no goodies in the room like toiletries and no special treats delivered on arrival in the room or on Christmas Eve, which is what we are used to with other hotels like The Sofitel and The Ritz. It's these seemingly penny pinching things that make the hotel not seem 5*. And without being a club member, other guests will get even less of a luxury 5* experience. Staff do try hard and are very welcoming but overall the luxe, luxe luxury atmosphere was a bit lacking. Read less
