The hotel

Where is it

Located on the island of Thilamaafushi, in Lhaviyani Atoll, one of the Maldives’ smaller and underdeveloped atolls. Transfer time from Malé International Airport: 35 minutes by seaplane (remember to pack light for the seaplane transfer as luggage allowance is 20kg plus 5kg hand luggage, per person).

134 well-appointed guest villas, featuring unparalleled views across the whitewashed beaches, the Indian Ocean or turquoise lagoon. All with air-conditioning, tea/coffee-making facilities, iron and ironing board, mini fridge, safe, bathrobe, separate shower and tub, hair dryer, bathroom amenities, smart TV, and complimentary WiFi access. Beach Villas are 82 sqm featuring direct beach access, outdoor bathroom, and 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 2 adults and 2 children.

Half Board option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Dinner, choice of daily theme dinner buffet or a 3-course set menu served at Turquoise (set menu only when buffet is not available), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill or 3-course set menu at Riviera Tapas.

Full Board option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Lunch, choice of Turquoise (only when the restaurant is open), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill and 3-course set menu at Riviera. Dinner, choice of daily theme dinner buffet or a 3-course set menu served at Turquoise (set menu only when buffet is not available), 3-course set menu at Velaa Bar + Grill or 3-course set menu at Riviera.

Drinks: unlimited consumption of non-alcoholic beverages from the beverage list served in the above-mentioned outlets, only during mealtime (breakfast, lunch or dinner), and to be consumed in the outlets only. Mini-bar - non-alcoholic beverage and snacks replenished once per day.

All-Inclusive option: includes daily breakfast buffet at Turquoise. Lunch, choice of Turquoise (only when the restaurant is open), Waves Café, Velaa Bar + Grill and Riviera. Beach Garden Pool Villas feature an open-air bathroom, private pool, and direct beach access from the patio, with 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Beach Pool Villas are the same as above, with a pool located at the front of the villa.

Overwater Villas with pools have either sunrise or sunset views, private pool, and direct lagoon access. The bedroom has 1 king-size bed, sleeping maximum 3 adults.

Two Bedroom Beach Pool Villas feature direct beach access with a private pool, two bedrooms each with 1 king-size bed or 1 king-size bed and twin beds, and an open-air bathroom, sleeping maximum 6 people.

Recently we had a wonderful stay at Le Méridien Maldives, and it truly exceeded all my expectations. It was our second time there and it was even more unforgettable. The hotel location is absolutely spectacular –on a small island surrounded by the crystal turquoise waters. What makes it truly special is the beautiful house reef surrounding the island. While snorkeling or diving we may admire variety of colorful fishes, turtles and rays. The culinary experience was also one of the most important. The resort offers three exceptional restaurants, one standard restaurant and several bars also adults only. Let me point two very special for us. Riviera, with talented Chef Arvind, is a true gem. The seafood here is exceptional, perfectly prepared fish dishes that highlight the best of the seefood cusine. Their paella, prepared in the traditional way, is rich in flavor with perfectly cooked rice and decorated with nicely presented seefood. Every meal we had at Riviera was full of heart involved and memorable. Velaa, with Chef Pradeep, offers an equally impressive experience with a focus on premium meats. The steaks are cooked as perfect as we ordered, tender and full of flavor. But to be honest we came back to taste again the lamb chops. Among the best we ever had. Juicy, perfectly seasoned with garlic serving. Only thing we missed was the green pepper sauce we loved while we were here previously 3 years ago… What truly is the strong for the quality of both restaurants, is the outstanding service team. The teams at Riviera and Velaa are truly highly professional. But what is the most important they are incredibly warm, empathetic, and attentive. They remember your preferences, anticipate your needs, and make you feel really spectial. Their professionalism and sincere hospitality make the lunch and above all the dinner and evening verry special. We would like to congratulate Mr Thomas the quality he keeps up.
